    Samael is very old. Here’s a hint, his wings. They are upside down meaning Samael is a fallen angel. Plus he’s in the Bible, he was an archangel. Samael was one of Lucifer’s followers and was casted out of heaven with him.

    • @TrueMastersandMorons
      @TrueMastersandMorons  6 лет назад +10

      We actually originally posited that the inverted vs. normal wings would be a sign of who was or wasn't a fallen angel, but the Fallen, the only unit type specifically called out as once being an angel, now a demon, has normal wings, and no one elses lineage is called out within the continuity of the games. We do know that biblically Samael has angelic ties in most of his representations. But within the context of Darksiders no specific mention is made either way and we try to throw as little guess work into these videos as possible, calling out when we are guessing when we feel the need to. TL;DR you're right! But Darksiders doesn't spell that out one way or the other unfortunately.

      Samael is by far the most inteligent and manipulative and selfish being in the whole Lore. He simply uses whatever and whoever he can to help him achieve his own agenda, which of course we don't know what it is. But , imo, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the possibility that there is a huge conspiracy between the Dark prince, Lilith, and the Charred Council, War being the one chosen to be the scapegoat in the middle of all this. For some reason, Samael did not agree to whatever this plan was and was imprisoned, another proof that he is much harder to kill. If the dark prince was so powerful, he could just kill Samael in a snap right? Samael most likely knows all the secrets and is seeking vengeance of his own, only to take the place as ruler. When he makes the deal with war his terms are - "bring me their hearts and ask me no questions, my reasons for helping you are my own" and later "I do not approve the company my master keeps." so he was probably next in line to rule hell, but somewhere along the way, he was discarded in favour of the destroyer, most likely as a result of some sort of a deal with the charred council...

      War did die, it was viewed through the tree of life. In doing so, Uriel struck the seventh seal and in doing so the cosmic powers brought him back up. So I think Sameal being able to slip through time, knew full well of the events that unfolded at the end of Darksiders.
      As it’s said both at the end of DS1 and DS2, “The riders shall always remain as four.

      Samael is near a omnipresent. He somehow possibly has the ability to see all events and actions on an unknown amount and even more unknown time lines (hence why he knew Death journeyed back to the past). That being said, Samael is probably manipulating the "current" timeline in his favor and setting up everything so that he can rule over ALL kingdoms, while at the same time lessening the powers of the dark one (nephilim army, ensuring that the 7 seals are broken, honoring the Pact/Treaty, making Lilith seem untrustworthy while aligning Lilith to his side, eradicating other demon lords that would get in his way) also, the actions of the Horsemen are giving Samael the knowledge that he wants as well, seeing as he can see just about all actions taking place.
      All in all, when the riders ride, he remains faultless (due to his imprisonment) and he can sit back while both the Council and the Dark Prince are dealt with.
      Reminds me of the old homage, "3, dogs but only 2 are fighting, one just watches. Who wins? "
      "The dog that was watching!, why? Cause either both dogs killed each other or one has to be dead and the other is drastically wounded. The third dog just has to come in to do the final blow and takes everything"
      There's a more simple version, but I love the way Samael thinks (I see a lot of myself in his character), just sit back, wait it out and let your opponents kill each other, they're basically giving you the victory while you just watch or play both sides of the war from the shadows.

    I'm fairly certain I remember Lillith saying "I'm drawn to raw power. And NO Demon in any realm can match that of Samael" meaning he's the one who stands atop the entire race in terms of raw power...now that could just mean that his magic and strength is far beyond what any other demon could match using the same spells and techniques, which would allow the Dark Prince to actually retain the top spot (for now) with some hidden techniques and abilities and magics that Samael DOESN'T have access to or the knowledge of. But it's stated quite clearly that he IS the one with the most raw power. So any argument against him actually being more powerful than the Dark Prince and just allowing him to retain his throne has to account for that.

      There are several versions of Samael in biblical lore for sure, some call him an angel, some call him a demon, others a fallen angel (like the devil), so we would not at all be surprised that there's a book saying Samael is the actual devil, that sounds possible from a biblical myth stance for sure.

      Well Darksiders 2 implies that Sameal and Lucifer are two separate entities. If anything I’d wager the Pan that Death speaks to in Darksiders 2 May be Lucifer in disguise trying to play all sides. Sameal was imprisoned because “The Dark Prince” didn’t trust him.

      In DS when Death fights Samael... In the past, was BEFORE he was imprisoned by the Dark Prince, which is implied that this is before or right at the beginning of the 100 year imprisonment of War.
      Samael is near a omnipresent, so he probably allowed Death to win the fight, to give him the demon key, knowing full well that he'd be imprisoned soon, but also knowing of all and emerging timelines that War would regather his powers, thus allowing the Dark One's plans to fall, the Destroyer to be vanquished and to create a "new" timeline that put Samael in the best position to literally Conquer ALL kingdoms unchallenged.

      More than likely Samael is a fallen angel.
      I commented on one if their other videos. In DS2, In one of the side missions (or it could've been one if the DS books I read quite often) there's a vault with 2 statues. One is enormous the other average. The extremely large one is of a daemon that closely resembles Samael, and says something along the lines of "If an angel becomes tainted with corruption and hatred for far too long, physical changes begin to happen. It's once glorious form starts to become twisted, it's wings broken and displaced, hell burning in it's eyes, before too long a powerful Demon is born"
      The other state is of another demon that quite resembles Lilith, and makes a very similar statement except it says that the same can occur to a human"
      I'm gonna try and find it, so I can link it to you.

    • @TrueMastersandMorons
      @TrueMastersandMorons  6 лет назад

      That is true he does die twice. And that is a possibility that he's talking about War dying in the beginning of the game. But then why would he mention it with the line "Sometimes the HERO dies at the end" why would Samael think of war as a hero in a story who died in "the end" when it is before the rest of his game took place? And since this conversation happened with Samael in the time frame that it did (When Death went back in time to before Samael was imprisoned and thus before the events of the beginning of Darksiders 1) He still would have been seeing into the future.

    • @FatalFist
      @FatalFist 6 лет назад

      Sameal saying, “Sometimes, the hero dies.” Was a foreshadow to Death sacrificing himself - I think that was the point of his line but death does seem to be a reoccurring theme in the Darksiders universe since the Seventh Seal changes all the rules.

    • @FatalFist
      @FatalFist 6 лет назад

      I honestly think Sameal wasn’t confident that Death would choose humanity over the Nephalim and thus sowed the seeds of doubt to get Death to make a decision with the best outcome.

      In the world of Darksiders 1 falling onto a planet in meteor form seems to just be a mode of transportation. As seen in the very beginning of Darksiders 1 in the cut scene with all the demons and angels falling to earth in meteors followed by War. Then at the end of the tutorial War is beaten to near death (But not killed) by Straga, Was then imprisoned by the council for 100 years for breaking the rules and sent back to earth (once again in meteor form) to right his wrong. We then see the meteor travel one last time as the angel of death Azrael sends War to fight The Destroyer/Abaddon once again in the form of a meteor striking down and War coming from the crater. At the very end of the game Uriel kills War with the Armageddon blade then breaks the 7th Seal thus calling the horsemen no matter where they are (Dead or not) and bringing about the Apocalypse. War simply stands and his brothers and sister fall in meteor travel form. All Horsemen live and ride by the time Darksiders 1 ends.
      Hope this clears up the "death" of War and Meteor travel

    • @TrueMastersandMorons
      @TrueMastersandMorons  6 лет назад

      We agree that the Dark Prince almost certainly had a hand in locking Samael up, but another thing to consider is that it was probably both the Dark Prince and Abaddon (hopped up on the Well of Souls) that locked Samael's power away. It's also possible that the Dark Prince ripped the power out of Samael to defeat him instead of afterword.
      Or... all of those rumors about Samael being stronger than the Dark Prince were just that, rumors.

      Arguably Lucifer is much more powerful but as any powerful villain, arrogant and paranoid. Sameal was seen as a rival rising to power. There’s also probably an angle Lucifer is playing and may have seen Sameal’s role in the end war. Likely inprisoning Sameal was an attempt to keep War inprisoned and protect the Seventh Seal so the four Horsemen wouldn’t interfere.

      He does, he's stabbed by Uriel in his back, honored the death oath they swore. This was Wars plan after visiting the tree of knowledge. He knew he would be killed, but also figured a way to break the seventh seal, since he was in possession of the Armeggedon blade (one of the few things string enough to break a seal). So he knew that he would be killed, but also knew that once the 7th seal was broken it would immediately revive him with full 100% power and also summon his other 3 brethren as well.

      @TrueMastersandMorons  6 лет назад +1

      So the thing to remember about Darksiders one is that you have the tutorial level, then 100 years pass off screen, and then the rest of the game happens. Darksiders 2 takes place during that 100 year offscreen time, presumably ending well before the 100 year mark. Death does show up at the end of Darksiders 1 in one of those meteors, but after Death's story and probably after Strife's and Fury's. We're open to doing a timeline sometime after Darksiders 3 comes out though if you or others would still be interested.

    • @zangunov8664

    • @TrueMastersandMorons
      @TrueMastersandMorons  6 лет назад +1

      As far as we can tell since the idea is once the 7th seal is broken the horsemen ride and War is resurrected, there's no reason to assume that the 3 meteors we see at the end of Darksiders are just the dead falling bodies of the other three horsemen. :P For this reason we assume all 4 horsemen will for one reason or another be dead at the end of their games.

    • @zangunov8664

      War did indeed die. He was like you said impaled by urial at the end of the game but then he was resurrected by the power of the seventh seal being broken and summoning his brothers and sister to earth. But make no mistake he was indeed dead for at least a few seconds there.

      It is not you, they are definitely upside down... so are most of the wings demons have in darksiders... is weird, also probably symbolic, but mostly weird.

    Why Darksiders separated Samael from Lucifer? And made them two separated entities? Is this kind of future plot twist that would be revealed in the future that Samael and Lucifer are the same entity? Because in Christian Mythology, the original name of Lucifer Morningstar is Samael, meaning the Wrath of God or the Poison of God, seeing that Samael have wings, maybe is entirely a demon as he say he is.

      We don't know about the name thing from Christian mythology. As for them being the same person, there's no possible way inside of Darksiders cannon for this to be case as Samael is constantly fighting with Lucifer, Lilith hates Samael and wants nothing more than to serve Lucifer. So in Darksiders canon, definitely not the same person. As for the wings you can check out our lore video on the demons of Darksiders. You'll see that wings are not as informative as we all wish they would be. :P

      @@TrueMastersandMorons This is not an insult, I only find it contradictory, that is all, Darksiders is a good source for beings larger than life itself, literal gods, I trying to expand my cosmology in my fictional universe, I have my Lovecraftian aliens, but I now I want to expand to literal gods, for varied pantheons and Darksiders seems to be a good source of inspirations, also I always wanted to play Darksider II, I am surprise how hard is the first fucking dungeon, in Assassin Creed was a test of how well you knew the mechanics of the game, but here you need to solve the puzzles, and sometimes is not apparent what puzzle it is, I have been writing for the last five years science fiction/fantasy, but now I want to expand more the fantasy aspect, beginning from the bottom of the barrel, vampires, werewolfs, fae, to then expand to celestials and gods, I was having a discussion for a original setting for vampires, something that wasn't made before, and we agree in science fiction, the problem is putting vampire in a science fiction setting is very hard it seems.

      Depends on the mythology. In modern Christian mythology, they’ve been fused together as figures. However, in older conceptions of the mythology, for example the Jewish mythology, the figures are different and separate with unique functions (much like the difference between Mycenaean and Greek mythology with the roles of the likes of Poseidon, Pan and Dionysus). In older versions of the mythology, Lucifer and Samael were indeed different beings, Lucifer being the favourite son of god who fell in his own vanity and Samael at one point being the angel of death (later replaced by Azrael) and at another point being a very powerful devil, being the serpent in Eden and the consort of Lilith (who is also wiped from modern Christian mythology which claims Eve to be the first woman instead). Thats not even to talk about Dante’s inferno (which is literally a Christian canon that includes the river Styx, centaurs and Hercules as real figures) where its even more convoluted with Satan being a separate being too
