Timestamps would be so appreciated for a podcast like this… I love everything being covered in the beginning, but I would like to at least know if you cover his information theories and potentially skip ahead of that since you don’t have that option, i’m going to stop listening right now about 20 minutes in and possibly come back to it or possibly forget about it and possibly look up another RUclips video that specifically talks about what the book covers in terms of his breakthroughs, that said, I am greatly enjoying the first 20 minutes of the podcast enough to come back to potentially soon. Thank you for putting this out.!

Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed the first 20! This is originally an audio-only podcast that is part of my substack newsletter, so I haven't gone through the youtube version to make chapters. I agree it would be useful, I unfortunately just haven't had the time to do it.
If you prefer to listen to the audio-only version for the rest, you can find the podcast link here: www.libertyrpf.com/p/claude-shannon-fan-club-with-jimmy

This was a brilliant podcast. I knew about Shannon in the context of his definition of entropy and so on, but didn't know about his personality and approach to life and work. Keep up the good work. Subscribed!

Thank you very much! Glad you appreciated it. If you want more on Shannon, Jimmy's book is excellent, and it was the basis for me understanding him better.

@@LibertyRPF Sure thing! I was trying to buy the Audible version, but for some odd reason it's not available in Poland. I'll definitely order a physical copy.

I wouldn't lump Apple into that, since Bell Labs actually came up with new stuff.

Einstein e=mc² or general relativity doesn't have much application in our daily life.

Not obvious ones, but GPS is one, nuclear power plants are another.
