Yep, some LEOs who claim to be “by the book” don’t always remember that the constitution is the supreme law of the land, and the right to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed. If someone is not committing a crime or been convicted of a violent crime, they have no business bothering someone possessing a firearm. That person could actually save that officer’s life one day, so the pompous attitude against armed civilians needs to stop!
I recall when it didn’t matter who appointed the judge. They ruled on the law of the land which is the basis for the judicial system in a Constitutional Republic.
You nailed it. The term lock, stock, and barrel comes from the fact that these parts used to be purchased or made in different places and assembled by The people. When a business opened in Pennsylvania that made and assembled all the parts in one location it was revolutionary, you could now buy a gun ready to go, "Lock, Stock, and Barrel."
Yep. And because the Government and its agencies have to always be the big dogs, Randy Weaver's wife, son, baby, and dog lost their lives. Because an informant CLAIMED a shotgun barrel was an inch too short.
That's right. Most of the gun control we endure today actually came in our lifetime. We have witnessed the end of the nation that was created by our Founders.
You're not required to have serial numbers now NYSRPA v Bruen did away with that. Commercially made guns do but you have no obligation to place them on homemade guns.
The making of your own gun was accepted practice in 1791. That is all the justification to throw out this "law". SCOTUS was clear on this. This is the only argument you should put forth as there is no need for any other.
No matter how this Supreme Court rules, and I seriously doubt that even the current Supreme Court is going to uphold their own ruling in Bruen, but even if they do, it all lasts only as long as the Court doesn't get another leftist majority. The left will immediately overturn the individual right in Heller and that ends it all. There is no room for us to concede even the smallest of points or rights to the left. Anti-Trump gun owners risk the future of our rights by supporting Biden.

It’s past time for the US Congress to pass a 2A restoration act and repeal the unconstitutional NFA, GCA, and every other law that infringes. It also needs to force states and cities to honor our rights too. We should never be subjected to an arrest and imprisonment just because we cross a state line in this country!
This ban is ridiculous. If you have the discipline, dedication and skill necessary to mill and make your own gun parts, its highly unlikely your the type of person to use it with criminal intent. Just another example of punishing good people to protect the crimes of politicians.

@@richardmorton1310It would be fantastic if we had the resources to file on all of these, in every state. But, should we win (with Bruen), we will go after everything possible.
This is a VERY SIMPLE CASE. All the court has to do, is determine whether the state can show that there were widespread Founding era laws that addressed the supposed issue of so-called "gun violence" (which actually doesn't exist) in a similar manner.
From this we get the phrase “lock, stock and barrel,” about those gunsmith who actually produced the entire gun. They had to be locksmiths, blacksmiths and woodworkers.

Not 1768, Not 1868 Are firearms that were made prior to the Gun Control Act of 1968 required to be marked with a serial number by a licensee? No, unless re-manufactured after the enactment of the GCA, October 22, 1968.
Most people don't understand that this law is hiding something. The law is cleverly written to make it appear that ATF determinations constrain the language of the state legislation. However, enough ambiguity exists in the state law to cause confusion among judges, prosecutors and law enforcement that will lead to seizing legal firearms. My understanding of the Ghost Gun law is that any outward facing part of the gun that houses "fire control components" now requires a serial number. This includes detachable magazines. All AR-15 rifles now need three serial numbers: lower receiver, upper receiver, and buffer tube. Plus, each detachable magazine needs its own serial number. A detachable magazine houses a spring and follower that are components necessary for the firearm to initiate, complete, OR continue the firing sequence. The Illinois Ghost Gun law is clear because they explicitly state, "For models of firearms in which multiple parts provide such housing or structure, the part or parts that the Director of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has determined are a frame or receiver constitute the frame or receiver." However, Colorado's Ghost Gun law is not clear. Vermont has opted to copy Colorado's law.
I want a 25-06 left hand bolt rifle. Savage will make a rifle of poor quality compared to a rifle made by tikka. The only way is buy a Tikka receiver, buy a barrel, stock by someone and put the parts together.
How would a favorable ruling here integrate with the GG ban in Washington? I was doing a lot of 3D2A here, and since the ban, which mostly required serial number engraving, I've just gotten an FFL for my prototyping.

Ghost guns are not a problem. Very few people produce these things and most don’t work. As I gunsmith I have seen guys try to make these things and they often ruin one or two to get own that works. They end up spending way more money than they could buy a serialized receiver for. If they want to play this game then let them do it. I just feel there bigger hills to die on than this.
It's not just about the cost and complexity of milling an 80 per¢ frame vs buying a serialized complete frame. This is about our right to make our own arms, outside of gov knowledge and without being added into the ATF database of 4473's.
