    It's concerning to see the mistakes made by Giovana, especially considering her role as an English teacher. Hopefully, she can find assistance in learning authentic Native American English, either through professional instruction or by seeking corrections from reliable sources like this channel. Accuracy in language instruction is crucial for effective learning and communication.

You alone cannot cover the entire Internet to search for errors resulting from false teaching. Thank you anyway.

      I think she forgot to update her bio because she's Brazilian and before teaching English full time, she also explained Portuguese grammar, so, vocabularies wouldn't be wrong since she showed both English and Portuguese lexicon, but, in the current state of things it'd be technically incorrect because she focused 100% in English and got rid of Portuguese

    I'm not playing Devil's advocate here but in her defense, this is one of the first videos she posted on RUclips a couple of years ago and since then, she's improved a lot with her grammatical accuracy, she still makes mistakes ofc but not as gruesome as Marina's or Arianitta's

    The sounds in "orange" and "juice" are identical represented by /dʒ/ in the IPA. Even when you are correcting you are making the same sound so I don't see your point.

    • @Andrew21219
      @Andrew21219 Месяц назад +3

      First of all, she said "aran-juice". So basically, she didn't pronounce the last syllable of oranGE, and also she didn't pronounced correctly the first syllable of ORange. Furthermore, if you're talking about IPA, yes, it's ˈɔːr.ɪndʒ but don't forget the rule that says that if you have a consonant between two consonants you drop that consonant, so, basically you drop the "d" and it becomes "ɔːr.ɪnʒ." In other words, what she said was: "ɑ:r.ɪn dʒoos" but it should be "ɔːr.ɪnʒ dʒuːs".

    • @jealousdoctor628
      @jealousdoctor628 Месяц назад

      @@Andrew21219 I'm not sure what you mean by consonant dropping and how it applies in this context. The [dʒ] sound is not a consonant cluster, it's a single sound, just like [ʒ] , even though it's represented by two symbols. As for her pronunciation, yes she did mispronounce the vowel but Kevin is wrong when he says the word "orange" should be pronounced with the ʒ sound. You can check any dictionary, British or American, or listen to native speakers and see that the standard pronunciation of this word is with the [dʒ] sound. "ɔːr.ɪnʒ" is probably a variant in his regional accent that he is generalizing from.

    • @Andrew21219
      @Andrew21219 Месяц назад

      @@jealousdoctor628 the point is that she did not only mispronounce the first vowel but also she didn't pronounce the final consonant of the word orange. I've just checked on Youglish. Everyone pronounces "orange" and then "juice". It's not like people say "oran juice." In fact, she said "aran juice" which means two mispronounciations. So, the correction is spot on.

    • @ItsBilly.
      @ItsBilly. Месяц назад +1

      Well, surprisingly they tell you practically the same thing with “Changed” /tʃeɪndʒd/, when in reality natives pronounce it as /tʃeɪnʒd/.

    • @jealousdoctor628
      @jealousdoctor628 Месяц назад

      @@ItsBilly. Which natives? I've never seen any native speakers who pronounce it that way. Maybe a small number of them do. A small number of them also say "expecially" instead of "especially" but it would be ridiculuous for them to go out and say that it is the standard pronunciation.
