It's the most recognisable religious symbol in the world, and the most familiar to the band, growing up as they did in the USA. Also, who cares if it offends people? A: they're a punk rock band, and B: you have a right to freedom of speech, not freedom from being offended.
@tweenyteen The actual logo was originally designed for two reasons. The first was to be easy to spray paint, like all the other logos of punk bands from the early 80's. The second reason was because it really pissed their parents off. The singe specifically mentioned that if he could go back, he probably wouldn't have used the logo because it can be so offensive. His other main idea behind the logo is an opposition to the unthinking dogmatic organized religion, not the religious themselves.
@tweenyteen bad religion started when the lead singer, greg graffin, was 16. of course he wanted to offend christians, at the time. he was trying to piss people off to get them to think. he was and still is a punk rocker who doesnt need to justify his actions to anyone. and like it was said before, the logo represents anti establishment and restrictions of thought.
The Kyoto accords really haven't done anything to slow down the amount of carbon. The Paris accord won't do anything either. The only way to slow down the amount of carbon is for all the developed countries go 100% green and stop the developing countries from making cement, asphalt, and drilling for gas and oil. All other countries want the same level of development that the US has and for that to happen a shit ton of carbon will be released into the atmosphere.
No. The West needs to lean on all of the 3rd World polluters to force them to stop killing the rest of us. Petroleum is the single most useful source of energy on this planet, with the exception of nuclear. The Lefties won't let us use nuclear, so nothing is left. The carbon footprint on Wind energy, Lithium batteries is far far in excess of what it is for petroleum. Please leave your cushy Western country and move to a "more enlightened" place. Leave the West to us "bigots and racists".
America is the largest polluter per person And also chernobyl was almost intentionally bad nuclear is now the safest power generation method we have but old awful reactors gave it a bad name and it cant recover especially when people equate everything nuclear to chernobyl constantly
@angryhob0z I can agree with you from personal experience. I'm a christian and the first time i saw that symbol i was like "WOAH! red flag, back it up!" and was scared away for a week. But i did more research into it, and over time Bad Religion became my one of favourite bands. I mean, i still dont like to look at the crossbuster, but i dont judge them based purely on it. Plus, a lot of the songs gave me good messages. Like No Direction =D
@tje125 yep you are right. actually kyoto now! was a name of a college student movement to push the US into adobting the kyoto protocal. somewhere in the mid to late 90's
Im only as smart as I am now because of bands like bad religion. If they never used such elaborate and eloquent vocabulary, I'd have never wanted to understand it.....- signed "the world's youth"....(if only)
anyone know what the reference to kyoto is about? kyoto, japan? i know kyoto japan is an industrial city as well as a preserved historical city. so it makes me wonder if this reference is about industrialism taking over.
The band's logo says that they're not actually anti-Christ but they're just anti-establishment. However, my concern here is that, if they're not into the RELIGION thing, then why do they have to use a cross as a symbol? This may have a bad connotation to the young sector. This could also offend Christians. If they're against religions then they have their freedom to express-- The thing here is, they don't have to use a religious logo to make generalizations.
I know this is just gonna come off as bitchy but it does bug me. If you're going to make a lyrics video get the damn lyrics right. Especially when you go through the trouble to get the hard ones correct, don't fuck up "We can't do nothing; I think someone else will make it right" when it's "We can't do nothing AND think someone else will make it right." Yea it's just one word but it changes the meaning of the sentence entirely. I'm done.
That's wrong. He does say Watch out or watch-o. It's kind of become a thing with BR. If you don't believe it you can go to thebrpage.net and look up Watch-o under "The Answer".
"The arid torpor of inaction will be our demise" those are really intelligent lyrics lol
A whole lot of wisdom for a punk rock song.
The Evil Bassist most have this much
Outstanding outstanding
Someone like Greg should actually be president.
This song is pretty relevant right now with all this c*nting f*ckery going on in the world.
Douchebaggery as well, love.
This band changed my life. Not even funny how amazing they are.
The only punk band that understand what punk is
I remember cracking a real dictionary with pages to look up some of the lyrics... think I did that for class? lol not a chance
"A real dictionary with pages" Wow, am I really that old?
@@dunjak111 yes
still here and this songs still fucking awesome

Paris Now!
One of the best songs I have ever heard on so many levels. "Founded on petrochemical plunder, and we're its hostages"
That line really hits hard. Just like "a brutal sun is rising on a sick horizon" and "the arid torpor of inaction will be our demise."

2017, this is still good.
PnR Gaming exactly :) I think it makes more sense now than when it was written
2021, still good

Concur! Ever read serge latouche?
So you're saying the entire planet should become the Third World?

smartest guys in music.
If you like smart lyrics, check out Raised Fist, but they might be a little too intense, so imma warn you right here...
Nice vid. I think the lyric is "we can't do nothing and think someone else will make it right" rather than "...I think someone else...".
Sly Shippy An important distinction =)
I think it's just a sarcastic way of saying that's what most people think. They do that a lot.
@angryhob0z

"Now the wisdom that sustains us is in full retreat" - it has turned into a rout now.
what about now?
xcutioner kera
Considering we're having recorded breaking hurricanes every year I think it's a fat L
This is their best song!!!! 😊😊😊
they dont have a"best song"!they dont need to have one!
igarashi ganta
Danny Cunningham ?
It is to me ;)
Favorite song by them.
Mines tested
Greatest song to try and sing along to because you know all the words but can't seem to keep the pace of the vocals.
@matttaylor817 I believe it has something to do with the kyoto protocol
Yes!!
You might not think there's any wisdom
In a fucked up punk rock song
@tje125 yep you are right. actually kyoto now! was a name of a college student movement to push the US into adobting the kyoto protocal. somewhere in the mid to late 90's
This wasn’t about the college movement. This was about signing the Kyoto protocols in the early 2000s to combat global warming due to emissions.
You might not think there's any wisdom in a fucked up punk rock song
No Bad Religion song can make your life complete. Prepare for rejection, you'll get no direction from me.
Sigh, more true today than ever.
I think it's "we can't do nothing and hope someone else will make it right"
Small mistake but big different in that one word.
Kyoto now
God bless Bad Religion :-D
You see the irony I hope
Im only as smart as I am now because of bands like bad religion. If they never used such elaborate and eloquent vocabulary, I'd have never wanted to understand it.....- signed "the world's youth"....(if only)
I fucking love that song, my favorite from Bad Religion with no doubt, over all the second chorus:
iiin my dreeaaams! THIS SONG is in my dreams :'=)
Revolutionary punk needs a revival.
Watcho!
How bout that Jay Antonio Sabin!!!!
The crossbuster means the same thing a no smoking sign does, this is not practiced here. Simple as that.
2:15 my whole life i tho he said "one, two.."
xD
+xcutioner kera they messed up in the video it's watch'o not watch out
anyone know what the reference to kyoto is about? kyoto, japan? i know kyoto japan is an industrial city as well as a preserved historical city. so it makes me wonder if this reference is about industrialism taking over.
Great song about the movement to decrease emissions. This is liberal punk and I love it.
It's sad that scientific truth is "Liberalism" and not just fact.
They’re socialists actually.
The game... I just lost it. e.e
Amazing song ^-^
FU! I lost the game.
My band sing it as, "a fucked-up pub rock song", because there's no comparison between the British idea of punk and the US one.
One of them is a Christian. If he isn't offended, I don't see why you should be.
1:13 - 1:46
They said it was just a stupid logo that they picked when they were first starting out in their teens and twenties. Not supposed to mean anything.
The band's logo says that they're not actually anti-Christ but they're just anti-establishment. However, my concern here is that, if they're not into the RELIGION thing, then why do they have to use a cross as a symbol? This may have a bad connotation to the young sector. Not to be mean, but I'm 99% sure their intent IS to offend people. I think they made a song about it.
we need a fresh and new religion??
bush: we need a new world order
Paris now! Let's see if biden keeps word
Hostages? Complicit. This song is so shitastic. It was already too late for Kyoto.
watch-o IS NOT watch out!
But if you actually pay attention to some of their lyrics, you can clearly see that they do not agree with Christianity. ;)
The only lefties I like
HEYA! ANYONE THAT IS CONCERNED ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING! GET A SOLAR PHONE CHARGER! IT'S LIKE FIVE BUCKS! DO IT! PLEASE!

He says "1,2" before the guitar solos, not "watch out", I'm pretty sure most BR fans know this!
That's wrong. He does say Watch out or watch-o. It's kind of become a thing with BR. If you don't believe it you can go to thebrpage.net and look up
Watch-o under "The Answer".
The logo is a silly thing they drew when they were 15 to piss off their parents. Not a lot of thought behind it.
You might not think there's any wisdom in a fucked up punk rock song
