I grew up in Iowa, and my mom has always made snickers salad each year, usually for Christmas or thanksgiving. It’s definitely a rural church crowd sort of thing in my experience.

Yes I’ve had it many times. So many times a cookout people bring that 😂. My grandma would make homemade whip cream with cut up green apples. We had this every Sunday since I was 7-8yrs old. I’m 50 now. I live in North iowa. Not far from you.

I’ve lived in Minnesota over 40 years. I’ve only actually come across snicker salad 1 time in my life. That was at a random potluck. I just asked my wife (also a Minnesotan for over 40 years) and she’s had it twice but has a recipe for it. Long story short - not a daily food in any aspect, but it is around😂. Great video guys!

I'm Minnesotan and I've heard of snickers salad but I thought it was a southern US thing. Growing up my grandma made this thing called "jello salad" and it's similar, just a bunch of sugar tossed together in a bowl lol. If MN were known for any food I think it should be wild rice, it's still harvested traditionally on most reservations here. Wild rice hotdish is also my favorite hotdish, so frickin good!

I had it once. A friend of mine (incredible sugar addict) brought it to a pot luck once. As much as I enjoy a Snickers every so often, I can't say that I enjoyed Snickers "salad."

I live in Minneapolis and one of my friends brings snicker salad to all get togethers. It looks weird and most people think it's potato salad or something but I've heard it really good. I'm allergic to peanuts so I've never actually had it myself. Also that frozen chicken is super good. Very crunchy. It was half that price at Target.

It's basically a candied apple if you think about it. You should have gone with the granny smith apple which is tart and would balance the sweetness of the other ingredients.
I don't know about that 😅 I think the sweetness was fine, it was the texture for us that we didn't like. I don't know if using Granny Smith apples would have made it any better hahahaha if we ever get brave and make it again, we'll try it, though!

One of my sister's makes snickers salad for holidays (she lives in Mora, MN) and family gatherings. I had never eaten snickers salad prior to visiting Minnesota close to 20 years ago.
Yes. We have Snicker Salad in TX, but we also add popcorn (its best to freeze the snickers before cutting them). But we only make it for certain occasions. Like for Christmas or Thanksgiving, BBQs, or something. Once again, y'all cracked me up. If the world had more Raye's, it would be a better place. Korean/Minnesotan Fusion sounds awesome! lol
Kopiko is made in Indonesia. The candy contains extract from real coffee beans. It was one of my junky food when i was in high school. Esp during study group. 😂😂

first of, if you do brave this again, I would use real whipped cream and not spray topping cos, as you experienced, when you start moving whipped topping around, it melts almost immediately and just becomes wet. home-whipped cream would stay creamy and fluffy and maaaybe do a positive thing for the texture in that way lol. also cut the snickers much smaller next time so you can chew it all in the same amount of time and not just be left with a mouthful of snickers, like Jin said. ALSO also, if you ever need content ideas, cooking would be so much fun! both Korean food, but you could also show US/MN dishes that you do like 😃 you could start with hotdish, if you do like that lol. anyways, I'm gonna be making this for the nephews to freak them out 😆

Hey MN lady here. In my family, Snickers salad was made as a fun sugary dessert salad every Easter :) I kinda like it. And sometimes it is at the Cub grocery deli if youre lucky (on unlucky) :) The vanilla pudding actually helps it out in re a thickener.....but gotta love Minnesota - land of 10,000 desert salads. Ambrosia is great too....
We have snicker salad on most holidays. I didn't know it was a Minnesota thing though. You need the vanilla pudding though and use cool whip instead of the canned whipped cream. It's good with butterscotch pudding too.

Kopiko is so good. It’s a famous candy when I was a kid. My grandma used to buy it for us as a treat. It’s basically coffee candy.

2009년 미네소타에 있을 때 기숙사 요리사가 교사 생일선물이라고 비슷한걸 해서 내놓긴 했어요

이거먹으면 살 찌는거 아니냐고 했더니 자기보라고(190쯤 되는 근육질 흑인 아저씨였어요...)
자기 할머니가 많이 해줬는데 자기 살 안쪘지 않냐고. 그랬어요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 동양인은 췌장사이즈가 작아서 그렇게 먹으면 큰일난다고 하더라구요 ㅋㅋ

Hey MN lady here. In my family, Snickers salad was made as a fun sugary dessert salad every Easter :) I kinda like it. And sometimes it is at the Cub grocery deli if youre lucky (on unlucky) :) The vanilla pudding actually helps it out in re a thickener.....but gotta love Minnesota - land of 10,000 desert salads. Ambrosia is great too....

We have snicker salad on most holidays. I didn't know it was a Minnesota thing though. You need the vanilla pudding though and use cool whip instead of the canned whipped cream. It's good with butterscotch pudding too.
