    Oh cool! i came from a tropical country and lived in Montreal for 5 years. I am sooo tired of the very long and very cold winter. I need to move out. I am considering this state.

    The humidity here is my biggest gripe... but thankfully it's only for a few months. I LOVE FALL! If your a snow lover then Richmond will disappoint you a lot, but
    every so often you'll get a surprise 'biggie' where the city will get a huge dump, everything closes down, and it's a holiday for a few days to a week. It doesn't
    happen often though. Springs are freaking glorious!!!!!!!! But of ALL the seasons, the summer heat and humidity is definitely the most pronounced. Those hot
    sticky days seem to go on and on... when you get that first cool air in late September it sure makes you appreciate it :)

      You are 100% right about the humidity and we are in the thick of it now. I always warn my California/West Coast relocation clients to be prepared, we are not a dry heat.

      Hi, I had the chance last week to meet a 21 year old from LA who had never seen a Firefly. I guess you don't have those? They are wonderful to watch at night and kids love to put them in a firefly lantern over night next to their beds. In the morning they are released. Other than that, we are not Florida. I live outside of Richmond in a very rural area.

    We have only two seasons in Virginia and they are summer and hell with like a month of mother nature going wild with weird winter stuff. Also Richmond does get extreme weather at least 2 or 3 times a year depending on the year. They're trying to butter you up and you'll start complaining when you get tornadoes, thunderstorms, snowstorms, hurricanes, hail, sleet, and etc.

    Another great and informative video!
    Could you please do one about bugs and other creepy things out there, lol. Honestly so interested. I live on the west coast and our area doesn’t have a lot of creepy critters and I honestly want to know if I could handle it. So many people comment on the amount of creepy bugs, biting bugs, ticks and snakes. I worry that I will be locked indoors all the time 🥴.

      Thank you! Everyone's tolerance is different but I would say the city of Richmond and its suburbs do not have tons of what you are concerned about. The more rural areas further out do have snakes and ticks. Mosquitoes aren't great here no matter where you live, but companies like Mosquito Squad actually do work and drastically reduce the number in your own yard.

      During the summer you can depend on spending your evening hours inside or huddling under a bug lamp. Any light will draw clouds of bugs. Dogs living or visiting outside will become coated with ticks.

    How close is Glen Allen, Va to VUU?

    • @LivingInRichmondVirginia
      @LivingInRichmondVirginia  2 года назад

      It all depends on which part of Glen Allen you are in but I would ballpark it and say about 20 minutes if you are in the middle of Glen Allen. The further west you go the longer, the further east the shorter. Hope that helps!

      I hear ya, some of my older videos make me cringe a bit. In all of our newer videos I have created consistent audio levels with good quality audio. I went through some trial and error with different equipment before figuring out what worked best for us. Video editing is one thing, audio editing is it's own beast as well. Thanks for watching this one and I assure you all future videos won't suffer from bad audio.

    Weather in Richmond SUCKS! About four weeks of good weather per year. Otherwise it is hot and humid or freezing cold. Snow usually comes late January/early February and even a light dusting makes driving extremely dangerous. Richmond is on the boundary of winter. It doesn't get cold enough to freeze local ponds where ice sports would normally be good, nor does it snow enough to allow skiing or even cross-country. Winter (Oct-Apr) is usually just cold, wet and miserable. Summers are hot and very humid with almost daily rain showers.
    Bugs? Tons of 'em including the world's worst collection of mosquitos. The land around Richmond is low-lying or swampy and a perfect breeding spot for Virginia's State Insect.
