    • @meliorstudios

      We believe you can push the 8 bit footage a lot if you learn to understand it's limits in post. It may also take longer to get you're desired look with 8-bit but at the end of the day you can get very similar images. Remember getting lighting correct plays a huge factor in this! and yes a flip out screen for vlogging or even filming youtube videos would've been super helpful

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 года назад +2

      Hey Filipe, thanks for taking the time watch our video! To answer your questions, 1. We used to own a canon camera before we upgraded to the A7iii and already owned the canon glass, hence it was cheaper for us just to buy an adapter. 2. If we would recommend one lens to anyone buying the A7 series it would be the Sony 35mm 1.8 and if you have the bigger the 1.4, incredibly versatile lens as you’ll be able to see in the video examples in the video. 3: yes, in low light 2.8 is often not shallow enough to let in enough light and so we often use the 35mm 1.8 in those situations. We hope that answers the questions:)

    Still shoot on my A7iii and I love it. 4k/24p oversampling does a grait job, though I mainly use it for still objects. For panning, gimbal movements and children playing I use 1080/60p which is still a decent quality. And sure X-T4 and GH5 may have a supperior video recordign specs, but they are not full frame snesors and A7iii totally beats them in low light and when you need that shallow DOF for the best cinematic looks. Cheers for the great video :)

    Very informative! Thanks a lot.
    I would like to ask you that you have used colour mode - ITU.709 MATRIX where almost every other tutorial says either SGamut 3 or SGamut 3.Cine so could you please explain which one is the best for cinematic colour rendering?

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  10 месяцев назад

      Hey thanks for watching! This is simply for the Sony A7iii. The Sony A7iii has really bad magenta shift which is very hard to color grade. This is partly due to Sgamut3 which doesn’t work too well as a color space on the A7iii. A way of getting around this magenta shift is using ITU.709 matrix instead. There will still be a magenta shift but much less than when using sgamut. Thus, making it a lot easier to color grade. I hope that makes sense. Majority of the Sony A7iii videos on out RUclips are shot on slog2 and itu.709 matrix if you wanted to see more examples

    You mentioned the option of a Panasonic GH5. I’m looking for a camera purely for video so would you recommend this? I have a Nikon D850 for photos however I’m torn between a Nikon z6ii, Sony A7iii, or the GH5.
    I know talent is paramount but I’m also thinking about cost to quality. I’ll mainly be shooting architectural/interior videos.
    Thank you, subscribed

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  8 месяцев назад

      Hey! As a video camera I’d say the GH5 is superior to the A7iii. It has a lot of features which the A7iii doesn’t and produces great Colors. Tho saying this, you can achieve great visuals fro the A7iii too and have great plethora of lenses to choose from
      However it has a micro four thirds mount which is great but if your thinking of upgrading further in the future to Sony/canon etc it may be.
      At the end of the day, it’s your call, let us know what you decide!

    • @RohanStrathie-ci6yb
      @RohanStrathie-ci6yb 8 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the heads up. I don’t have much knowledge on video specs etc. I’m looking at the GH5 and it will likely buy it. Although the choice of lenses seems limited. I would use my tilt shift lens for certain architectural videos but it’s hard to find an adapter that works with tilt shift lenses. This is the only reason I would purchase the Nikon z6ii for lens compatibility (but compromise some video quality)

      we often use a circular variable ND filter to reduce the amount of light help control the exposure and sometimes a black pro mist 1/4 filter though we haven't used this in over a year. And fot the canon lens. We used to have a canon 6d where we bough the canon lens. @@PERIKLISTSINTZAS we have experience with the X-T4 but not with the S5. The colours that come out of the Xt4 are usually very full and clean, and like you say the slow motion is quite nice, and very important when doing weddings. Hello! So I'm planning to buy an a7iii as my second camera ever, after my a6000 (But I've used other cameras at work, I'm using the fuji xt3 right now)
    Since I can only spend 2k euros, is this camera a good option?
    Or should I go for an a6500?
    Apart from the 16 50mm kit lens. I've only got a 30mm sigma 1.4 apsc.

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  Год назад

      Hey man! Sorry for the slow reply, did you end up choosing what camera you wanted to get? I would definitely recommend the A7iii to the A6500, simply for the body shape, battery life, cleaner sensor and the full frame imagery you're getting, tho that's just personal preference for us. But if you only have APSC glass it may wiser to go with the A6500

    hello guys, and thanks first of all for everything. I would like to ask you why when I try to grade the clips, and I try to add contrast, use the primary curves, white balance, a black vignette is always show up on the image, and the contrast isn’t uniform throughout the image. Why ? I do some mistake ? has it ever happened to you? I film with Sony 35 1.8 slog2 ITU

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 года назад +2

      Hey Paolo, thank you for taking the time to watch! A black vignette will usually show up due to the lens but we also use the Sony 35mm f1.8 but we never get a vignette, so that’s strange. However if you do push the image too much or increase the contrast too much you may get a vignette, that’s usually the case. This usually happens to use with some of our lenses when we try to increase the contrast past a certain point of the image. We hope that’s helpful

      Better stabilisation for handheld work can be nice. Compared to larger cinema cameras it’s hard to add lots of weight to a rig to reduce micro jitters. Can’t wait to see what you decided in the future! And charger always charging haha 🔋

    Hey guys! Congrats on your channel! I'm really enjoying your videos and tutorials over here in Bavaria.
    A question about the boxing match that you mention in this video: Do you also over expose HLG3 when shooting in a more extreme light situation ?
    I'm still struggling with artefacts (wich I first mistook for noise that I thought i could get rid of in da vinci studio) when I shoot a very contrasty scene with HLG3.
    Do you have any tips on that?
    thanks & keep up the great work!

    • @meliorstudios
      @meliorstudios  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Milltown! With HLG3 We perfectly expose so +/- 0 stops (not overexposed or underexposed) When shooting in bright conditions we often switch to S-log2 and in darker situations we choose to shoot in HLG3. Artifacts can be annoying but if you have the studio version of Resolve you can use the denoise tool which is often very powerful and can help remove the artifacts.
      We hope that's helpful!
