      When you were being tested for the pre trip inspection, the truck that you did the inspection on, were there any real defects that you have to actually identify? Or was it a truck in good condition with no defects and all you had to do was show that you know what to look do if there were any actual damage ?

      @@imtheguy1565 i mean it depends on what school you attend some schools have so messed up trucks. But the examiner just wants to see that you know what you're talking about. But the school shouldn't let you take your CDL driving test in a messed up truck

    This is a good video to get an applicant started, but it would be good to watch other similar ones because he misses a few things like steering wheel play and brake lights. And be sure to read the SD DMV CDL manual because it is the final authority. There are many free sources of information to help pass the test.

    Watch out on the bleed down test. I aced the In can but failed because I didn’t state the air pressure again right before starting the test. I had stated it when checking the gauges. When I started the bleed down I released the parking brake, stated when the the air had stabilized. North Augusta can be brutal. Inspector said it was in the manual, but after re reading the procedure I did was correct.

    Voltmeter shows volts. As picky as these instructors are, if one of them knows anything about electricity and you say "it operates at 14 amps" that will be points off.
    I was taught to say "all cab glass" which I did while pointing all around and then specifically to the windshield. Examiner said because I didn't say the word "windshield" it was points off. Also not all things you can go back and include. When I did the gauges the air pressure was still building. I noted that it was building as it should and that the governor would cut the compressor out at around 120 - 125 psi. At least three times later in the air brake test I said "the air compressor governor has cut out at 125 psi which is correct," but because I didn't say that sentence immediately before starting the leakdown test, it was an automatic fail.

    • @michaelgeurink4422
      @michaelgeurink4422 4 года назад

      On the other hand, I've had the examiners calling the gauge a volt/ammeter, when it's only reading volts, so at least some of them probably don't know the difference.

    why do they make cdl pre trip so complicated they? They should make a regular driver license test the same way that you have to know every part of the vehicle and tell what every part does and also a brake test also

    • @thegrayeagle9181
      @thegrayeagle9181 3 года назад +2

      I understand why you driving a very large vehicle. You need to be fully aware of every aspect of the truck a d trailer. You have your life and the lives of the public in your hands. Drivering these trucks are no joke for me I want to make sure I know what I'm doing not just pass the test. So This instructor was excellent.
