The term "shards" was used in Kaldheim with the planeswalker Niko Arnis. Shard tokens. (They're enchantments with "2, Sacrifice this enchantment: Scry 1, then draw a card.")

My idea for Meathook Massacre II is that it's going to be part of a line of sagas that are all parodies of horror movies
Shot in the dark on the Keyword ability, Undying was initially in Avacin Restored which was the third set in the Innistrad block. Maybe, Soulbond from the same block.
Okay, the balloon token definitely reminds me of the movie, *It* . Either a Clown Horror or Clown Spider Demon.
It would probably be an avatar or demon avatar if it’s book/movie accurate like they did in the lotr set since it’s an interdimensional being similar in power to those characters

Definitely think the one referring to Tamiyo planeswalker cards is the new Nashi card. However, I'm wondering if they are gonna resurrect Tamiyo and it's gonna be a Pet Cemetery situation.
Edit: The Red Ballon is a reference to It. So possibly we get a Legendary Clown Demon. Also, I'm wondering if the new mechanic is Impending which is referencing Bestow.
Whatever makes Red Balloon tokens is definitely an homage to Pennywise, I can't wait

“Lets play a game” should be like making a villainous choice but I definitely want that for my mr. House deck
I read all the flavour texts of Alpha. Excluding all the cards which text mentioned the character of the card itself and the characters that already appeared in later sets (a lot of sets, since this is Alpha!), I found, if not mistaken, only these:
1) Mi'cha, a war mammoth mentioned in "War Mammoth"; very unlikely;
2) Najib, mentioned in "Dwarven Demolition Team" but dead;
3) Tal, a deity mentioned in "Northern Paladin" (as Book of Tal);
4) and Gnerdel, the ogre philosopher mentioned in "Gray Ogre".
There's also granite gargoyle, which has flavor text from the underworld cookbook
So we might get a new Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar!

Maro did say returning, so that could mean one that previously got a card like Norrin, Pashalik Mons, or Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar. All three were also mentioned in flavor text of Alpha.

A new look at Graft would be interesting and fitting with a horror theme. It came from the third set of Ravnica block.

"A tweak on an ability word that first appeared in the third set of a block," annihilator came out with Rise of the Eldrazi, third set of the original Zendikar block...
The text where it says "Where X is the number of creatures 2 or less" has to be some sort of card based on facedown creatures. One of the new face commanders for the precons is about having facedown cards and as well as know facedown cards enter as 2/2 base creatures. Super excited face down mechanic is a really interesting playstyle and id love to see the new creatures or effects we are gonna get with it.
The line of text that refers to "Creature spells you control and creatures you own that aren't on the battlefield" is most likely just turning them into enchantments, kind of like how Encroaching Mycosynth from ONE does with all spells and artifacts. There are a lot of synergies around enchantments in this set, including a whole rare cycle of Glimmers that are enchantment creatures that become regular enchantments once the creatures die, like the already spoiled Enduring Tenacity, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a card that enables more enchantment synergies appear here, most likely in black but could be in green too. I think Anikthea players would have a ton of fun with that
I’m thinking the same thing and I immediately knew it’s going in one of my two enchantress decks. If it’s a green or selesnya card, it may fit in both my Tuvasa and Anikthea decks. Either way, if it’s an enchantment card, I’ll find a way to use it even if it means building a new enchantress deck 😂
My money is that the card that cares about permanent type is referencing planeswalker, not battle. Signs of undead Tamiyo, Kasmina summons 0/0 fractal tokens, and Niko uses shards. They talked about reducing the frequency of planeswalker cards to increase play value, which has only fallen since then. More and more planeswalker interaction would be cool.

A variant of a previous mechanic might be a new intimidate variant, which itself is a variant of fear. Maybe this time the creature can’t be blocked by artifact?
Possession makes me think you might be able to temporarily take control of an opponent’s stuff. Maybe like a time counter but on the last one you give it back or it exiles? I’m curious about that one too.

Possession. What I first thought of is, you gain control of target creature until a certain trigger happens. Such as until damage is done to the creature or you take damage etc. That would be sick.
Maybe it’s like an upkeep type trigger where the possession counters come off every turn.

Yeah so the remix is another version of attractions because they returned the 1/1 red balloon creature token from infinity that can be made from opening the balloon stand attraction. When you become a Mr. House main you learn a LOT of weird niche cards from the most random set😂

The 4/4 white beast token has already been seen on Toby, Beastie Befriender I think? It can’t attack or block alone, but as long as you have four or more creature tokens, Toby gives flying to all of them

The balloons are most definitely a reference to IT and I think the Human Clown Berserker is what will create them 🤔
The character from Alpha is likely Samuel Colridge, from cards like "Will-o'-the-Wisp". Not deep diver, i literally just dug through the alpha flavor texts, and it matches the spooky vibe.

My money says "A character returns as a legendary creature that first appeared in flavor text in Alpha" is Norin the Wary. Just scanned through the list on scryfall, Alpha did not scan online very well, but from what I saw, Norin, Asmo, and Pashalik Mons are the only options, and Norin makes the most sense to me.
Legendary creature might actually be Dihada without her spark, she was I think reference in alpha🤷🏼♂️

i think the card that will have you have no maximum hand size and don't lose the game for having 0 or less life will also have when ever your dealt damage draw that many cards or something like that

Isn't that already an abbility from Ravnica called "Afterlife"? I mean, that one creates a flying spirit, so this one could create a non-flying spirit, but that seems just too similiar, why wouldn't they just bring Afterlife back xd

The only one that I found is Marianne Moore that was on the flavor text and that wasn't a real person. So with this information my best guess that Whoever this Marianne Moore is will be a card in this set. It was on a red card however it was dragon so it may work??
I really wish Duskmourn doubled down on “The Haunting” or Resident Evil 1 or even 2 vibes…I would have loved that. Right now I don’t see anything interesting for me other than the lands.

Been interested in magic due to bloomburrow and we are getting a horror themed set??? Guess im playing magic now.
If the 1/1 balloons are a reference to Pennywise from IT, we will 100% need a deck tech for cards utilizing balloons where every other card in the deck (aside from basic lands) is one penny!

it is possible to make a tribal tribal deck cureently its just... inconvinient. I used Arcum Dagsson and a bunch of cheap artifact creatures so i could reliably tutor maskwood nexus then chucked in all the trial lords i could find in mono blue.
