I’m so happy your vid popped up in my feed this morning because I have also ( nine years after you) decided to make my tree all handmade this year! I love your creativity and the way you just grab things and see if they work together; exactly what I do. Creating is such a wonderful outlet for stress and boredom. I’m retired and live alone with my two dogies and spend my days making things for friends & family. TFS all your ideas. 👏👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🥰🥰🥰🥰
Shannon: roll flattened tubes around a dowel and it won't hurt. The small hole won't matter. I love your crosses and designs. They would look great painted and crystalline. No glue first then finish. Thank you for your creativity. You can add dangles to ornaments and bells inside rings. Have a blessed day❗🌹🙏❤️
FYI - white wood glue works just fine on styrofoam. I’ve decoupaged many styro ball ornaments and plan to do more this years as well. I know white wood glue ( it dries clear) is a kind of PVA type glue but it works well for me. It needs to be thinned down with water for decoupaging purposes, though.
Very cool! These would work for a Valyrie's outfit on a small sculpture or relief. lol. Love the ornaments. That packaging is wonderful! The decoupaged ball was beautiful all by itself. You are so creative and inspiring! Going to try some of these. Thanks for sharing.
Cant wait to see your tree!!! Hope you will do a video For us! Even creative does not explain a person who Sees art and beauty in the sale ads of the news paper. You are a true artist! Love you, Chetta
I recently did a clean thru of my studio (just reorganizing, not actual cleaning LOL) and found quite a pile of magazines that I have been hoarding for pictures. So while I sit and cut, cut, cut and cut (sigh) I turn on your videos and watch and chuckle with you while I do so. You are so entertaining and creative. Rock on and keep giggling about boobs!
Very cool, Shannon! Please be sure to do a little video of your tree all decorated with these little jewels! P.S. I love how when something is really small you call it "tee tiny." Being a Florida girl, I used to hear that phrase all the time when I was little but not so much nowadays. I'm sure it's a South'n thang and it's sweet to hear it again! :)
I don't know that it's definitely a regional thang, just seemed like it would be. Got a Southern sound to it, to me anyway. So where's Part 2..... hmmmmm??? lol
You crack me up. I love your goofiness. You remind me of my self so much. You have inspired me to do rolled paper projects and OMG I must have a million of them. Now what to do with them. I will send you a picture of my project that I did when it is done. I love your videos because you explain and show everything. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for talking about your hands. I have cerebral palsy that affects the fine muscle control in my hands. I have tried coils from magazine paper before. I did it all wrong and it didn't work. Thanks to you talking about your hands I will try this! I think my special needs daughter would have a blast painting them! I LOVE your ornaments!
Wow! I believe making these paper tubes must have been therapeutic. They make great crafts! I am going to try making these for sure! Thank you for sharing! 🌷🌷
I do have an Etsy shop but it's been empty for over a year now. I really hate the process of listing items...taking pics, writing descriptions, figuring postage, etc. I give a lot of stuff away.
Me, I was thinking they needed a little dangly bit like a silver bell...but I was thinking elf hats because of having Christmas on the brain. Now I keep laughing about the silver bell dangles...well, you know why--ROFL! You come up with the most creative ideas, Shannon! Can hardly wait to see the next part. :)
I too have been following the Spanish and East European ladies. I use about a size 2 knitting needle for my wicker basket tubes, as they are much thinner and imitate wicker perfectly. I dye them with poly wood stains and they look like the real deal. Thanks for posting all your vids. I also use strictly newspaper as opposed to shiny adverts for baskets. They dye well.
I've thought about it, but haven't done it yet. Maybe some day. I have quite a few baskets made. I mostly just play because it's funner than dishes and laundry and cooking!
I watched your video twice, once for the educational value and once more for sheer entertainment value. Love your sense of humor, our minds work much in the same way. ; ) Smiled and chuckled through both videos. Some days (most) we just need a good 'pick me up'... today, you were mine. THANKS, SHANNON GREEN!!!
WOW!!! That IS a nice big collection of Tubes. ;) I love all the ornaments you made.... the "space ship" one is my favourite... ;) Wow, yeah, that IS awesome packaging (from the belt). =) I LOVE the dangly ornament, very cool. =) I kept being afraid that you were going to hurt yourself with the needle or the power tool... I'm glad it didn't happen. ;)
Well you know how I can take a simple idea and turn it into brain surgery! Just take the concept and tone it down into something simpler that you would enjoy doing.
Hi, Shannon! I see that many people like the idea of this year to decorate your Christmas tree ornaments made of choux journal pages. I last night also made one for my windows, but I will do more. Better glue hot glue. I pierce a hole with an awl with a small fine tip. And now is not on the topic on your page in Google is such a thing called Hangouts. There is a chat room. I made a you in your list. With it, we can write. I think you will find. Will have the opportunity - go. Let's talk.
hehehehe. Oh its ok (Sigh I guess), you've just introduced yet another thing for me to try..... I thought of you today tho, when I went into a hospice shop here in town, and I thought of you when I saw the zips, dress patterns and knitting needles !!!
That's a good question and certainly an option if you prefer to do it that way. I don't dip for a couple of reasons. It's messy and you have to devise a way to hang the items so they can drip dry, otherwise you get big puddles of varnish around them. And that's the other reason I don't dip. It wastes a LOT of varnish. I'd rather brush it on sparingly but that's just my personal preference.
Hi Shannon! I just found your channel and after watching this episode, I'm hooked! You're hysterical and made me really laugh. Today was a particularly bad day and you helped lift my spirits! Thank you for sharing!!!
Stick glue works good ! The other thing i found difficult with this method - if not glued while rolled, they unroll when you cut or work with them! I use a stick glue, lightly at random places!
You're "Alien-looking" ornament, made me thing of using a Styrofoam ball that is large enough to hold a hatpin. Take and make paper leaves and roses. The Styrofoam ball would be painted hunter green to simulate a topiary bush and the hatpins will be pushed the center of each rose and the leaves, making sure the leaves stick out from between the roses. The trunk of the tree will be vertical tubes and up close to where the topiary ball will go, the tubes will branch out and made to harden into the shape of branches. The hardened ends of the branches will be inserted into the topiary. If you don't want the trunk to stay looking vertical, you can wind tubes around it, giving it a spiral look. Then the base would be a rolled paper flower pot.The roses painted white/Red to emulate the trees the Queen of Hearts on "Alice In Wonderland" had painted.
The link one you had made, that you said you didn't know what it could be... would be a good project for parents and children who want to make paper chains for their Christmas trees, because regular chains made of construction paper, when they are wanted to be saved, don't last; and this would last for a very long time and each link could have something written on it by each member of the family, that would add to the charm of the chain.
I have a question: Have you ever had your hot glue gun, start just seeping glue and it won't quit and if yes, did you ever get it to stop and how did you? Mine started that, and I can't figure out what to do about it. It started it like 3-4 years ago and I just put it in cold storage, so-to-speak, until I can figure out how to fix it.
Just to be safe for anyone with young children, older, chronically ill, etc. [actually anyone]...I hope you are not using the same oven you cook your food in....[fingers crossed]? But beside that little worry, I enjoy seeing the recycling aspect of this!
I think you might want to put your camera more in front of you than above you.. because a lot of times your stuff is moving out of being out of the camera where you can't see it...
Really disappointed you didn’t show us how to make the alien ornament but I think I can figure it out now that I know you started with a styrofoam ball.
I love your sense of humor and my 48 triple D's were laughing along with you. I cannot imagine the size I would have to make to cover them. I am thinking that my tree next year is going to be covered in alien thingies and pointed boobs!!!!!! Thank you for your tutorials and for making me laugh!!!
I have a bunch, NOT, as many as you. Had to watch cause you said ornaments and my tree is all had made. Thanks for Sharing.
I don’t think they are weird! I like your creativity! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you!

Amazing video! This is a good creative idea.
Thank you! 😊
You're making me have an idea. Make an entire Christmas tree out of paper.

Love you,

Chauchetta Green That is so sweet of you to say, Chetta, thank you!
I agree, I’d love to see it also!! I love your creativity! We would get along so famously!!
Lovely. I love especially the snowflake. If you made several, you could put them together to make a basket also.
Great idea!
I recently did a clean thru of my studio (just reorganizing, not actual cleaning LOL) and found quite a pile of magazines that I have been hoarding for pictures. LOL I love that we are hanging out together!
Minutes 32:57- you could also use metal headpins and make loops at each end, then the inner piece would swing easily. Just a thought.
Great idea, thanks!

Ha! I had no idea it was a regional thang! Tee tiny is just a step above ant boogers.
I don't know that it's definitely a regional thang, just seemed like it would be. Got a Southern sound to it, to me anyway. So where's Part 2..... hmmmmm??? lol
A step above ant boogers! Hahahahaha! :D

They truly are therapeutic to make!
Those “BAZAAR” ornaments are my favorite of your videos ❤️🤣🤣
Shannon what do you do with all of the fantastic things you create? Do you have an etsy site?
I do have an Etsy shop but it's been empty for over a year now. I really hate the process of listing items...taking pics, writing descriptions, figuring postage, etc. I give a lot of stuff away.

soulcomfort1 If you can look at them and see elf hats then danglies would be adorable. Otherwise...not so much!!

Really fun! Love your ornaments
Thank you Loretta!
Shannon, you are precious ! I could just listen to your voice and not even view the video.
it's Madonnas bra!!! lol Love this idea...I'm wondering if I can use magazine pages. ~Dana
Yes you can use magazine pages or pages from catalogs. Anything that's sort of thin and colorful will work!
WOW!!! That IS a nice big collection of Tubes. ;)
I love all the ornaments you made.... the "space ship" one is my favourite... ;)
Wow, yeah, that IS awesome packaging (from the belt). =)
I LOVE the dangly ornament, very cool. =)

Phoebe There's always that chance but fortunately I managed to hold on to all my digits!
;) that's good.
Yeah, it's a strong possibility with me, too. ;)
Crafty project needing a dremel tool, I'm so with ya Shannon
Erika Grasmick Bring on the power tools!!
A great recycling project. Don't know if I'd have the patience for all the steps but I like the end result. Xx

How do you keep the right hand end of your tube from flaring out at the bottom when you remove it from the dowel/skewer?
Diana Hill Adjust the angle of your skewer. I'm filming Part 2 right now, let me address that so you can see what I'm talking about.
another awesome idea, thank you for sharing. :)
