As is said by Guruji Meditation is the most powerful antidote for omnipresent tension . But I strongly emphasize for prerequisites for meditation for sure results. They are laid down by patanjali. They are summarized as ashtanga yoga as yam, niyam, following brahmacharya (for few months) etc.

Why is a mantra important then? What is the purpose of being cognizant of a meaningless word (not even Krishna or Ram but some meaningless arrangement of alphabets called the seed mantra given in Sahaj Samadhi) when the purpose of meditation is to drop everything - words, meanings, thoughts - and become empty or void. What is any word doing there in the midst of a void? That very word (even though meaningless and not even meant to serve as a japa mantra) may become the last crutch for the mind to hold onto instead of disappearing altogether. I come from ISKCON tradition and I am a bit confused - when it is not even a japa mantra then why need a mantra or call it a mantra?

Some of them r we use as vedic chantings ,some of kirtana and sankirtana mantras like hare krishna mantra, then comes akshari mantras like ashtakshari or panchakshari ,we know them but who r initiated into them will not discuss about them with anyone. Like this some r called beeja mantras .We can't use them again n again as we want..It has a structured way of using .. And lastly but not leastly there is no rule that mantra should have meaning . beeja mantra don't have even meaning
What do you say about " Maharishi Balmiki Ramayan " and " Tulsidas Ramayayan " which also throws " LIGHT " on many daily seen objects in the world ? Please also lets know about these facts ? A single saint like " Adishankaracharya answered all things in his " ETERNAL DIVINE Song " Bhaj Govindam Bhaj Govindam Govindam Bhaj Moodhmate.. . ? What he had propounded is still " Relevant Spiritually " ?
