I am SSSOOOOO happy to see a guy crocheting! I've read that many male stars, like Samuel L. Jackson knits and crochets. The video was fantastic. Thanks for explaining it so well and without going on for 30 minutes about it before you start. Very well done and videoed.
I do have a couple suggestions. I started off using a magic circle in the very first round. Then you don't have to worry about a hole in the center of your base. You can tighten it up so there isn't a hole. I would also suggest that it be stuffed with torn chunks of foam, maybe even memory foam, to make it softer for larger pets. I didn't like the batting. It flattened out in no time at all. My poor Pit Bull, Maizie Grace, wouldn't sleep in it after it did. She weighs 70 lbs and I have tile flooring in my entire apartment. I ended up having to restuff the bed with the foam. Maizie loved it after that.
Thank you so much for making this video and sharing it with us. 😁

This is an ideal way to use up odd balls of yarn left over from other projects. One can use say, four strands of worsted weight yarn and a 95mm hook. For DK yarn, five strands. I made something similar, but I made the edging by simply carrying on doing single crochet rounds until I got to the required height on one of the bases. Toy stuffing works too, but the batting is easier.

yes Now I have started this one, but I have to make it of another kinde of yarn (I live in Denmark) because the standart yarn here is what I think you would call fine or a size 2 yarn. so I'll try something called ribbon yarn for this one.

Kind regards, Ranj.

      @@ranjkaur3225 To finish a small to medium pet bed I used 8 balls/skeins - Bernat Softee Chunky Yarn, 3.5 Oz, Gauge 6 Super Bulky, Ball Size: 100g / 3.5 oz, 99 meters / 108 yards. Using a 10mm and 9mm hook.
This pattern uses a stitch that consumes a lot of yarn but its makes for a cozy sturdy bed. I've tried to mix it up with less chunky yarns and it just flops. Good luck ;)

I made this for my boxer, Sheba, in the XL pattern instructions. For some reason my side edging (and I counted to 200 very carefully) turned out to be about 12" too long for the circumference of the base! I'm not really sure of the correct way to fix this (I'm not undoing 4 days of work on the edging) but I intend to just double up the 12" as an overlap with some slip stitches. Any other suggestions?

  • @lavenderrainbow5041

So, a while ago Mikey taught us how to make the seam not so noticeable. Does anyone remember how to do this? Did he add an extra hdc in the same stitch as the chain 3 or prior to the chain? My seam is REALLY showing and I don't like it one bit.

What grey yarn is Mikey using? It doesn't look as thin as my normal Red Heart Super Saver yarn. I wonder if someone has the dimensions/lengths for the finished pieces of the medium sized bed so I can use my normal yarn and still come out big enough? I'll just do more rows so I get the correct dimensions.
