Police officer shot with crossbow, civilian stabbed and suspect in hospital - High Wycombe incident

- Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to a serious assault and weapons incident in High Wycombe yesterday (10/5).
The man in his sixties who suffered a stab wound during the incident at around 6pm in School Close has been discharged from hospital.
The injured police officer is based at High Wycombe police station. He was discharged from hospital last night and we are supporting him.
The 54-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remains in hospital under police supervision in a stable condition with serious, potentially life-changing injuries.
The police cordon remains in place in School Close and the nearby park, but is expected to be reduced later today.
A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Assistant Chief Constable Tim Metcalfe said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with all of those affected by this distressing incident, the assault victim and his family, our own officers and staff, and the local community.
"The man in his sixties who suffered a stab wound has been discharged from hospital.

@@SM-fk5or Outside of the major cities the USA is FAR safer than UK. Most gun homicides in the USA are suicides and most weapon uses are for hunting and most non hunting uses are self defence. When you factor all that in and factor in the larger population (which more than linearly increases the rate of gun violence), the USA and UK are not that much different in terms of the likelihood of violence, and the difference is literally worth it so that people can protect themselves against violent people, animals and tyrants like the people who run the UK
