I always come back to this video every so often to see how you were doing things to see if there is something else that I can implament in my method. Then I pull the book out again. Very informative video. Thanks!
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any tips you can offer me.
@Ivan Allan Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I cannot tell you how perfect this was for me right now. Just finishing up the book and was wondering HOW to incorporate this into my TN. Your videos are spot on re: enough information, always relevant details and so very helpful. And I find it hard to balance the simplicity of the page with wanting to be creative (stickers, etc.) but you've managed it so well. Thank you for sharing!
So refreshing to see a setup where someone actually uses their planner to “plan” in and not to decorate. I really enjoyed this video. I’ve watched it a few times 🙈...... got some great tips from it. Thank you for sharing.
So very enlightening and inspiring presentation! I’m very thankful that you chose to share all of this with us. Continued success in your planning as I intend to implement some of your ideas.
Thank you for sharing your Van der Spek Nomad -it is beautiful. I love how thoughtful you are with your layout and planning system. I have been considering implementing the GTD system into my revised planning system and you show an easy and personal way to do just that. I have been relying on screen shots, too and it's good to know that I am not the only one! Love your video xo
I’ve had this book for a month now, and hadn’t found the time to read it. Now I’m diving into it right away. I love your videos, how functional they are, how you mostly use paper and pen 🙂 they are so inspiring
Finally! Someone whose brain works a little more like mine. Lol I get so tired of the planner extremists.....my brain is a hodge-lodge of several types, combined. I especially loved how you journal as you go, I do the same thing. Some days have memorable notes, some don’t! But when I look back, I don’t want it to be nothing but TASKS and check-marks (as much as I’m in love with check-marks!) . I love your menu system, never seen that before! And I screenshot EVERYTHING too 😂😂 helps me hang onto information more easily! Thanks for all the help ❤️
Screenshots!! LOL I can totally relate! What I started doing that has also helped is sending my screenshots to the Bublup app. I love that I can categorize and organize my screenshots and I do not have to save them in my camera roll. Bublup has a very nice layout too and it is super easy to use.
So many great ideas here. I’m bookmarking this video so I can come back and watch it again. Thanks so much for sharing. I’m going to read this book! I don’t know why I haven’t yet. 🙃
I love this. And I LOVE your planner . The back pockets are the best ! I've never tried to use a regular size TN for a wallet and this one would be great as one !
Great video. Since you’re into Eco friendly living thought I’d share something. Staples sells an eco friendly printer paper that is fountain pen friendly and made from 95% sugar cane husk and 5% bamboo husk. It’s literally all the parts of the plant that get thrown out during processing.
Thank you so much for all your lovely videos! I am binge watching them today haha You have a very charming way of thinking and talking and I am getting so many ideas. I have had the planner itch for a long time but couldn’t think how to change things up even though they my current system doesn’t feel like it is working. I think I might be working things out a little after watching your videos so thank you so much xxx
Just found this video. I absolutely loved watching your video. I also think your set up is fabulous, and I will be implementing some of what you did or all, even if a varied version. I hope you all are doing well uo there right now, if still in Seattle. Be safe, stay healthy!! 💛💛💛
Really appreciate all the info you shared since I am new to planners and all the options available. I am fascinated by the covers of your inserts with all the houses. Can you tell me where you got them?
The 2 minute rule is applied when you are doing your weekly review. In other words, your weekly review is when you are going through your "inboxes" and processing each item. An inbox can be a physical or digital (bills, mail, postit notes, cell phone photos of things you want to follow up on, emails, etc). When you go through these inboxes, if the item takes 2 minutes or less (file that bill, send that RSVP via email) then do it. Otherwise, make a task or a project (if it takes more than one step) and place that task (next action) on the appropriate resource page (at computer, at phone, at errands, at meeting, at work, etc). The idea is that logging that activity would take more time than doing it. The weekly review should be done when you can allocate an hour or more to doing this. It is possible to do the weekly review in chunks, and I have a checklist for my weekly review: check weather for the coming week, check calendar for upcoming events, go through physical inbox, go through photos on my phone, go through my emails looking for loose ends (run the email inbox to zero!), mind dump, check projects for next actions, check planner inbox, check tickler, etc. The idea is that there is a next action for each and everything in your life, and it is documented to take it off your mind. His book takes a lot of time to implement, I have been doing it now for 5 years, and I still fall off the wagon or have to go back to it, but it does keep me on track. I know when I am behind when I start feeling that "anxious" feeling, and then the weekly review gets me feeling in control. Thanks for the video! Great job, keep it up!
Thank you for this video!! Very informative I am also an ICU RN. I do bring my TN and ring bound, especially on nights, as I occasionally have time to plan!
Are you enjoying Seattle and the Pacific Northwest? Check out the all the festivals and family friendly / free things to do at Seattle Center (the fountain in the summer), children’s museum, great public libraries, Olympic peninsula, oregon beaches.
I’m also going to nursing school, so this was huge for me. It’s long but I will watch again, love all the practical lists in reference section. My brain is happy. 😄🤓 PS Your voice is very calm & soothing. 😊👍
Hi. I'm considering developing this kind of journal ling for myself to keep better track of my life, tasks and goals. I have a slightly off topic question for you. One of the items I expected to pop up in your journal-ling was professional development and apart from bi annual competencies I think you mentioned you did not touch on this. As an RN in Australia we have to earn a mandatory 30 'CPD' (professional development) points to renew our registration each year. Planning and tracking this is what I would have thought that was an obvious thing to include in a journal. Do you have mandatory development as part of your registration requirements in your part of the world? Note in Australia that 1 CPD point is equivalent to 30 minutes of training. It can be a formal course, online course, in services, staff development, personal research etc. 10 points must be earned for updating pharmaceutical knowledge.
That's a great question. I'll try to be brief... I am basically on a very long maternity leave from bedside nursing. The state I moved from did not require additional continuing education outside of what was required by the hospital where employed. Where I live now does have specific requirements, similar to what you mentioned. I plan to track those in a personal ring planner that will be dedicated to nursing/working at the bedside (Filofax Finsbury that I've owned for a few years but don't currently use). The current plan has me going back to the bedside in January or February, and I plan to have that work planner set up by then. I will share it here when it is ready. Thanks for asking!
Loved this video! Thank you so much. I've been wondering about how I can apply this system as a SAHM. This gives me so many good ideas! I watched it twice to take notes!
I had to pause the video and tell you how hard I just laughed at “David Allen doesn’t have a 1 year old and a 2 year old.” True story! I just write it all down too. Otherwise I would probably forget what I was doing halfway through! 😂
I definitely loved that comment too! I roll my eyes at a lot of books like this if the writer doesn’t have the responsibility of looking after children (and that includes Mari Kondo haha)! I love that you mention he has a secretary instead haha.
My husband became a peer referenced 'expert' on GTD at work. After seeing me struggle for a long time with two kids under 2, he softly suggested that GTD would be a helpful tool. Hungry for anything that could help make sense of non-naptimes I eagerly read every word over the course of a week while they slept. Husband's expression evolved from one of pride in suggesting a planning tool that he *knew* would work. As the days progressed, his expression evolved into one of nervous concern. Without realizing it, I would guffaw every 4 pages or so, and then after an hour each night, I'd firmly thunk down the book and mutter "hump. Well, he clearly doesn't have kids." I had to pause and laugh at the memory. Thank you!
Great video. Thank you. Do you have another recommendation similar for the Traveler's Notebook you've got? Looks like the price for the one you put on there is in Euros and coming up to around $170.
Funny that you mention Brandy since I watched her videos. Love how you separate things out. One of these days, I'll find a way of separating things out that will make sense to me and be easy to maintain. Thank you for the links! I didn't realize Van der Spek makde TN notebooks. I like the fact that you can have a pocket in the back, but the price tag is a bit high at the moment, so time for me to add this to my wishlist, and see if I am still interested in it when it is affordable to me. :) Thanks for all the inspiration on how to incorporate GTD with a TN system.
@@Dreblueskies I was in personal rings before switching to a standard TN. I briefly also used a pocket-sized as a wallet. Other than that, no. I knew I wanted bigger than personal size and have stuck with what works for me! Partially luck and partially love 🙂
Love this, I learned a lot of new ideas for my planning. I use ringed planners but I can easily use these ideas in my Filofax pocket Finsbury and my Franklin Covey classic. But I am in love with your Van der Spek Nomad, the black leather is so beautiful and the four sections are perfect for my Book of Shadows. I can have different sections for my herbs, crystals, spells and deities. It’s will be perfect. Thank you for sharing. 💜✨🌟💫⭐️🌙🔮
