I recently visited Lithuania to explore my roots, and a big part of that trip was to Kaunas and the Ninth Fort. I must say that the monument was probably the most impressive thing I saw on the entire trip, and going through the museum where you are able to put faces to the victims of this tragedy was simply shocking. May we never forget.
My great great grandfather died in the Ninth Fort, executed for organizing the hiding of Jewish children. May we remember all that was lost, thanks to a millennia of prejudice which was whipped into hate-filled violence.
