Larry and Susie on the same team ? Unholy alliance
it truly is
UNSTOPPABLE
When I saw those 2 together I lost it!🤯
Sounds satanic
Susie values a social assassin when one is needed!
“Do you like fishing Cheryl?”
“No.”
Lol
Fishin
Conversational KO
I love how Andy gamely accepts his fate, and then later requests that Larry be the middle at his dinner party.
Cassie's (Cousin Andy's wife) actor is so good at portraying that annoying pretentious suburban woman
@@saikrishnasunkam4344 I kind of like her though. Her and Andy are lowkey hilarious in the show. 😂😂😂
Andy's lovely
@@saikrishnasunkam4344 yes I couldn’t stand her in the past, but she’s kind of growing on me, I guess because she sees Larry’s value as being a social assassin.
@@saikrishnasunkam4344 It would be a tough request for a performer. "I need you two to improv a very boring conversation. Not so caricatured that it's actually funny. Legitimately boring, and let the situation be funny." They did a great job of it.
"Middling".....I didn't know it was a thing until I saw this, but it so fucking is.
Me neither I’m glad I wasn’t the only one
Sit where ever you want, Jeff I want you there

To her Jeff isn’t a person lol

DO YOU PERCIEVE THAT THE REST OF US WILL SUDDENLY FIND YOU THE MOST INSIGHTFUL, PERCEPTIVE AND OBSERVANT OF BEINGS, ON THIS PLANET?
This was the most intruiging premise in a long time... that it gets Susie and Larry to team up to resolve an awkward social issue.
So brilliant. This is the show that never stops giving.
I am a big Curb fan but you are very easily entertained. Sitting in the middle of a dinner party is not funny and shows how desperate the writers were to get another story line approved before their deadline.
@@davidr4523 Youre mad because you're obviously not a middler

I like how they just switch without arguing. They know what they've done -____- terrible middlers
😂
"Sit wherever you want, Jeff I want you there" underrated line lmao
I thought that was great too.
The greatest thing about curb is how preposterously the characters handle social awkwardness. Normal people would’ve mingled elsewhere, start side conversations or tried their damnedest to engage…nope. Susie and Larry have a sidebar and it’s addressed openly and *immediately* lol
Jews lol
@@marvincool3744 The best dinner parties are jewish haha
That's normal to you. It sounds like you are fake. These are east coast people.
They made the entire party better instead of having to compromise, they're right, address problems openly, honestly and without any kind of genuine malice
No. There are no "middler" attributes. It is a typical L David absurdity that fuels - like kindling - his plots. Normal people aren't offended (an example) like the Curb people. Real people don't act / react like Curb (or Seinfeld) characters.
Specifically, there was no social awkwardness based on reality. There is no taking turns at conversation at a dinner party. People talk and listen to whom they please.
Love how Susie is thinking to herself. “Desperate times call for desperate measures”.
Patton Oswalt and Vince Vaughn do a great job of looking bored out of their minds from the bad middling. It literally looks like they're at a funeral for someone they didn't know that well.
Huh, funny you should say that. I was at funeral like that today
Vince Vaughn is the best
You're right. Plus I just like patton for his stand up. Particularly his old stuff.
Oswalt is a hole.
@@ryleighloughty3307 uh hole
I like right at the end @4:00 Andy says “I have told these stories before and I’ve gotten laughs.”
I felt kind of bad for him there lol
@@charliepanayiotou4305 Richard Kind is so great in Curb.
Thanks. I just realized how genius that is. The fact that he actually thinks they're funny...somehow.
Some people will follow just about any story with their mouths already open ready to laugh. I've gone as far as to test them with deliberate duds and they'll reliably laugh as you stop talking. Andy must have encountered someone like that.
hilariously funny that to be fair
Larry is providing a Public Service to the world. We now have a reference point for bad middlers - and how to handle them. Frank and bold. Love that Susie sees Larry as the deadly assassin who can solve her problem. It's a new season and a new détente.
Well, I'm fairly (actually, fairly highly) literate, however, I had never heard of the word "détente" until your comment. Looked it up. Good word.
@@ContentWizard - Would you say then - that I'm hyper-literate? I was a spelling champion in middle school - and love to turn a phrase in a discordant manner.
@@murraywestenskow2896 indubitably!
"Middler" was invented by L David for this show. It's what he does. Made him $millions.
"I have told these stories before and have gotten laughs..." A throw-away line at the end but the best line of the scene.
The "point guard distributing the ball" analogy is everything 😅
“YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE MIDDLE!”
- Col Larry R Jessop
Had never heard of “middling” before but it’s undoubtedly true - I’ve even observed it at kids birthday parties, you’ve got to get the charismatic kids sat next to or opposite the birthday boy/girl, otherwise the whole thing goes down like a lead balloon.
These people attend more dinner parties than the characters of Clue
suzie : how we can save this?
larry : i'll take care of this

Jeff and Larry doing it on their own is hilarious
Stop looking at me weirdo.
Only Larry David can take the most mundane social interactions and lift it to comedy gold. Just a minute into this clip and I recognized this excruciating real world experience from my own life. Just brilliant.
Middling is an art form. A bad middle will ruin an evening. Now me and my colleague always talk strategy when going out to a business dinner. We arrive early to monopolize the seating since we know we’re a very formidable middling duo. If you’re not a natural middler, don’t hide from it. Nothing is more embarrassing than someone who thinks they can middle but can’t. Leave it to the professionals.
How do you get better at middling?
@@leaninheavy you can't. Either you got it or you don't. I actually find comfort in the ends of a table, you can make snide comments about people in the middle with other enders.
Ah. Someone from my own tribe❤@@jonathanskinner6310
Round tables: The middlers worst nightmare. EVERYONE IS A MIDDLER!
And yet nobody is a middle. My most fun dinner events happened at round tables.
@@annamelanie5151 Agree, round tables ftw. You get to swap convos with someone more interesting without it seeming obvious or obnoxious. I'm kind of a middle, but only if I'm not tired and have bothered to do some research before hand (which I do anyway, but its really hard to get 4 hours of convo without anyone else's input, you're forced to come up with too many talking points with some shy, unbalanced groups of people), but round tables allow for flexibility.
How does Larry still come up with all of these brilliant social commentaries 😂
The dude who takes a sip of his wine two handed! 😂😂
Larry and Susie....enemies, confidantes, friends....a psychologists nightmare 😂😂
"The important thing is... you found it...and now you're reading it and that's great" 😂
Lol I know right, I hate people that are socially conservative, you can't say anything even remotely opinionated around them. The point could of been made, that she's a woman and women face sexism and are known by their first name, not their last, which gives less respect than men - cue discussion about how women's roles have changed dramatically in the past 100 years, interesting content etc. But nope. bros before hos
My favourite part of this scene is at the end, when Richard Kind fully understands and appreciates the value of a Middler
Haven’t even started watching Curb yet but, this has got to be one of my favorite scenes so far! The fact that Larry says he’ll take care of it as if there’s a way to be subtle about resolving the situation but, he just goes out and tells Andy & Cassie directly lol and then he caps it off with “it’s very presumptuous of you to even be sitting here!” and you go back to how Larry saw Andy pushing his way to the middle chair! Lmao damn I love this kind of humor!
Hahahah totally
It's been a year I hope you've seen it by now ... Multiple times!
I'd never thought about this before but I do remember being at gatherings where some dull fucker is getting way too much air time and I remember thinking, "How is *this* guy leading the dance?" and looking back it's because they were in the middle.
2:18 Larry looks 120 years old
*puts glasses back on*
Looks the same age as in the first episode of Curb
This is so real, you can’t just let anyone sit in the middle at a dinner party.
You also can't put all the fun people on one side and all the boring people on the other
You can tell at 0:39 that Larry's trying not to burst out laughing as Susie's asking him to look him in the eye and toast
Good catch...the blurry side view of Larry. Hahaha
" I have told these stories before and got a laugh" classic
😂😂😂😂😂
The fact that she thinks Larry can fix something still is hilarious
This unironically made my family consider our seating order this thanksgiving
Ok. Leon should have been there and secondly trust Larry to be blunt about his feelings. Damn i love this show
Leon could middle from literally any seat on the table. So much energy.
I love Larry's and Suzzie's relationship throughout this entire series.
ya know what- why this show is top fkn notch- because holy fuck so what we argue sometimes, I had a friend like that hahah people say we quibble like an elderly couple but at the end of the day we love it😅 best friendss
This is the first time of the history of party's where Larry make it till the end without being kicked out 🤣🤣🍾🍾
Patton Oswalt is so naturally a Curb character.
"It's very presumptuous for you to even be sitting there!" 😆😆
Andy`s boring story adlibbing, and his girlfriend`s follow ups are so top notch, absolutely perfect for this unique scene. Total A game!
Can you imagine being told your not interesting enough to sit in the middle.
Oh dam, I hope that is not why I'm always seated in the far corner. A funny just turned into a sigh.....

Larry and Susie are like Jerry and Newman. Sometimes they have to team up to solve a problem, despite their angst towards each other.

It's not the same if Larry isn't being thrown out
honestly, i don’t mind.
I'm storming out ! Lol
The ambidextrous Susan :)
C'mon, let them like eachother for once lol.
It's nice to see Larry shine once in a while, if only so we can see why people invite him over at all.
“ I have told these stories before … and got laughs.” Precious
the face Larry and Jeff made at the end of this sense is priceless.
"They don't know the dewy decimal system anymore"
Who ever mentions the dewy decimal system is a demon let alone at a dinner party
"Hello! I see you, I acknowledge you, I connect with you"
Middlers should not only be great conversationalists but also good, strong passers. They should have the ability to lift up the food dishes with one hand and pass them around on either side upon request.
Also they need to have a keen awareness of cultural expectations and sensibilities. When an American sitting on one end requests the middler to fill the plate with a spoonful of rice, you do just that. When an Indian person requests half a spoon they really mean two or three but are too shy to say so.
Underrated comment
You deserve to be young Larry.
That's why you have the incredible Susan
A very Larry dissection. And all-good and bad-that the designation signifies.

I always would rather be at the kid's table than the insufferable adult's table blathering on about nothing.
"it's very presumptuous of you to even be sitting here" WHAT A LINE HAHAHAHA
This show makes so much out of normal life circumstances. Truly genius.
It's awesome after all the dynamic Susie and Larry have, she calls on the master to save the dinner conversation
So wholesome when Larry and Susie are on the same page.
People, this is how got Social Assassin title.
This scene always stays on my mind even when I'm eating alone 😂😂😂
There’s an unspoken skill to Seating Arrangements.
At a birthday party, you seat the person or people the birthday person is most at ease with (their choice- not yours) closest to them. If you seat a fake friend or an annoying person next to them- they will get up and move.
Hosts on the ends across from eachother. Reason: the hosts can overlook anything needed from their end to the middle and the other host on the other end can do the same.
At the Corners, the quieter people that prefer to observe and eat quietly rather than engage in extrovert conversations.
Middle- the ones capable of serving. Know how to serve a plate, carve a roast, pair a wine, include others in conversations. The diplomats that won’t start a feud at dinner with topics best left for before or after dinner.
Larry is an enigma.
An extrovert at the wrong time and an introvert also at the wrong times.., not sure where I would sit Larry at the table…. Perhaps on a chair with wheels so he can be free to roam around?
3:58 "I have told these stories before and got laughs" made me crack up real good.

This scene along with a thousand others in this series tells me this - Larry and Suzie love/hate one another. They hate each other as people but do they wish they weren't in their lives? No. They want a challenger, they want someone who will see their social faux pas and tell them.
