As this series unfolds, its supporting cast just gets stronger and stronger. The writers hit occasional new high points. This is rare. Kramer is the star. The undoubted star.

It's not just Hunter, it's "HUNTER"
When this episode originally aired back in '88 on NBC i was so sad to see Ambrose leave the show so tragically as he had been Hunter and McCall's first fair and decent Boss, the first who actually bothered to cover their butts and care for them! When Charlie came around as a captain, he was kept around as a Lieutenant which made sense but seeing him leave the show so tragically was so difficult and i was obliviously sad and very distraught at John Shearin being let go! He was a great actor and his character should have been used more on Hunter and then maybe they never he'd have been let go!
A once good cop turned 😞😔 bad due to sad circumstances--a damn shame!!

Hunter and McCall made tv show great after McCall left the show just the same any more
I always felt so sad when Lt.Ambrose Finn got killed off due to him turning out being the killer of known criminals who were let out on technicalities or loopholes!!-- Sadly & 😖😣 painful on top of that-- poor Ambrose,s wife Sheila ends up dying from cancer leaving Ambrose feeling empty & destroyed.IN TEARS 😭 NOW JUST WATCHING THIS!!
Wasn't Ambrose their boss either before or after this! He used to get around with two silver revolvers slung low crisscross ways in his back!
Now that I watch more of this episode he reminds me Kevin Conroy.

Where Hunter and Dee Dee's addresses in the phone book,it always astounded me how sometimes the criminals would find their houses.

If this intro dont make you wish you lived in the 80's as an older teen/adult in LA living it up to the extreme...something is wrong with you. 80's shows have me imaging lines of coke with a jheri curl going to punk/goth clubs but also going to Soul Train and being a dancer on the show...sex..drugs..rocknroll. Id probably OD on new years in 1989 and never making it to 1990.
