Hey Erin. I have been reading my whole life. I clock 80 to 100ish books a year. Never thought of starting a reading journal. As a 36 year old woman, mum and wife. It just never appealed to me. Until you! What a joy to reflect and live a little longer in worlds we read. So I just wanted to say thank you. You are my inspiration to start this journey. I now have a monthly list of reads and a "maybe next" list and stationary! I love this video. Sending appreciation from Cape Town. Shanay❤
Ohh Shanay I love this so much! 🥰 I hope you enjoy using your reading journal as much I enjoy mine, it truly is a joy to spend a bit more time with our fictional friends after the story ends!
I’m so glad you didn’t go for a sepia/brown color scheme! That does seem to be the color of choice for most reading journal setups I see now, and while I understand why, for those of us who enjoy color, it’s a little monotonous. It’s great to have a setup that uses colorful elements for inspiration!
Totally agree! I personally always go for the more dark academia vibe in my own journal, but I love the fact that Erin does more colourful spreads. This helps me branch out more with a different colour scheme as well☺️
PLEASE you deserve so much more recognition! when i saw your sub count it doesnt match how perfect your audio, cam quality and art is subscribed straight away. Im gonna start a cottage-core/romtasy theme for my 1st official reading/free writing journal. Thanks for the inspo and thank you for coming up on my rec i just got back into reading after 4years (im also reading ACOTAR)
@@ErinSmith aww thx im not sure how i feel abt if theyll be a lot of smut/not sure if its a genre ill like. Im on chapter 7 so not much is going on. so far i really love the writing style and characters i was expecting Feyre to be a super annoying pick me but i was greatly surprised by how realistic she is i genuinely feel like im there with her lol.
The first one is not too bad on the smut - it gets a bit intense in a Court of Silver Flames, which focuses on different characters 😅 you’re in for such a wonderful adventure with Feyre though!
I refer to my "maybe next" as "in the wings" and plan on writing the name of the book on washi tape in a B6 pencil. The tape allows me to remove it or move it around as needed. My TBR is more a wishlist... it has book recommendations for the most part.
I cannot express how much I wish I had a stationary collection like yours😍. This set up is extremely inspiring. And I'm always so grateful you link as many products as you can❤💕✨️ Also, love the 🎶 too😊
Hearing that you read ~6-10 books a month makes me want to get back into reading in the best way possible... I might start a reading journal just to help encourage me to get back into it
Yessss I couldn’t recommend audiobooks enough to make it easier - driving, public transport, working, cooking, cleaning etc - all while on an adventure? Sign me up! 😍
Very beautiful! I think I'll a similar spread of "maybe next" the coming year, because this one I made a TBR and was definitively not woking with my mood reading.
I truly wish I hadn't purchased A5's for my reading journal, I've switched to B5 for my everyday journal and square for my collections journal, but I truly wish I had chosen the B5 especially after watching your video. 2026 I'm going B5 for everything. I truly love that size. Your book is gorgeous and has given me a bunch of ideas. Keep up the good work and I'll see you in the reading groups. :) I wish I could join Page Mages but sadly living on a pension in Australia means no extra money for fun stuff. Maybe if the PM gets voted out things will change. :)
Beautiful theme, Erin!!! 💖💖💖💖💖 Also, loved the hauntingly beautiful music you played during the video!!! ❤️💖✨🎶 Really liking those illuminated letter stickers!!! ❤️💖✨
My Favorite book so far this Year is Fantastic Land by Mike Bockoven. I have also been hooked on Freida McFadden books the twist and turns are crazy. Honorable mention is How to Sell A Haunted House by Grady Hendrix.
Ah the way I got a fright when you mentioned my name is the video haha! G's CAWPILE system has changed the rating game for me and I hope it'll be the same for you. Have LOVED watching your set up - good luck with the B5! Maybe it'll mean more room for stickers!
I instantly subscribed! You have such a warm and lovely way of speaking, and your journal is so beautiful that it makes my heart ache. This is also one of the first sponsored videos where I’ve actually had the desire to click on the link. I’m looking forward to whatever videos you make next
I'm smitten... Nothing more to describe it, especially with all the colors & themes you chose this year. Definitely inspired to prep my 1st ever Reading journal...
Erin, your videos are so lovely! Visually stunning! Question for anyone who tracks reading: Do you count workbooks you’ve completed as books read? For instance, I’ve read and completed two Bible studies this year (Jen Wilkin’s God of Creation and Kristi McLelland’s Jesus & Women). I realize I can count them if I want, but are workbooks typically counted on the whole? There are more I will be doing this year, so I’m also wondering if I should count them as a sub-genre???
Thank you so much Sierra! I wish I could be more helpful for your question - hopefully someone can share their perspective but I totally agree that you can count whatever you want in your journal! 🥰
@@ErinSmith thank you for replying! I so appreciate you taking the time to respond. As a new journalist (at least for reading and bujo) I’m still working on what I want to include and what might seem fun, but I likely won’t actually keep up on. I love seeing all the ideas all you seasoned journalists have - they’re beautiful, informative, and inspiring! Again, thank you! 😊
Beautiful. I have a square journal I am going to use for a book journal but I have the same journal you are using and was not sure what to do with it and I just might use it for a movie journal. I have a backlog of DVD to go through… and a couple are fantasy type. Will be stealing/copying your design!
I have been watching your videos for a while now, and you have inspired me with your reading journal, so I will be started a reading journal too. I am not a big reader, but am looking forward to reading more
i am also looking forward to CC3!! but another one i'm looking forward to is the wayward children series. it's called Mislaid in parts Half-known and it looks like it's releasing on Jan 9th.
Absolutely love this! Your creative eye with all the elements you use is inspiring. Also super eager for Business Casual! The Lovelight world is gorgeous and gets better with each book. I'm also working in a B5 notebook for the first time for my 2024 reading journal, and I can't deny, I'm a bit hesitant to figure out how my layouts I'm so used to using working in something bigger. Some of the books I'm looking forward to are Wisteria by Adalyn Grace (book 3 in the Belladonna series), Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross (being in NZ means a December released book is now a January one, grr), and A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston just got announced the other day, and I adore her quirky romances!
Heeeeeeey I’m also a booktuber that makes these exact same reading journal videos. And uses washi tape and stickers. 😂 I loved that you talked the whole way through, I was watching while working on my own journal and I am so happy to still be able to tell what’s going on. 😉
I love your ideas for your journal and reading journal. 😍 The Fantasy vibe with the green colour creates such a well-balanced design🧚♀️ My most anticipated read for 2024 is Crescent City 3. But I'm also kind of nervous about it. 😅
I did all my trackers for this year on Canva and used sticker paper, especially for the monthly reading and library logs. For the anticipated releases: - Mirrored Heavens by Rebecca Roanhorse (book 3 in Between Earth and sky) -Amari Book 3 - Queen B (Book 0.5 in her HMRC series) by Juno Dawson And quite a few other series have new books coming out as well
While I love the dark academia vibes in loads of reading journals, I'm so happy seeing something else as well! The set up turned out beautifully and the fairytale vibes are perfect for a journal like this. I went for a house/cozy witch theme in my reading journal for next year ^^
Beautiful! As always. The audio speed seems a bit off, just a tad too fast I have list for my series books. I started one in June and waiting for book #64 to come out next year.
It’s entirely possible the audio might be a bit out of sync - I had some HUGE export issues with this video! 😭 it ended up having to be a done-is-better-than-perfect moment 🥲
sooo beautiful, i will be re-reding ian irvine's entire series, my fave books. the one im most looking forward to reading, that's got to be the finished first draft of the one im writing. i kinda want to make my writing journal beautiful like this.
This theme is so pretty! And the music made me feel like I was on an epic fantasy voyage xD Very in style with the theme. If you wanna try reading some mystery, I'm a big fan of James Rollins' Sigma Force series (Sandstorm is the first book). Just in case you wanted to try a mystery/adventure/thriller type of story.
So pretty and such a great idea! I have a separate journal for book reviews but would love to make it more informative. New goals! Question: Do you clean off your stamps when you are done with them? Can you use any marker on them (instead of or in addition to a stamp pad) for different colors?
Thanks Tara! I am a lazy lazy girl so I do clean my stamps eventually - paint marker seems to just dry down on them so I tend to not clean them until I notice the old ink interfering with new stamping 😅 but you can use any somewhat juicy marker! Paint markers are my favs but I’ve had success with Tombow dual brush pens too!
I just found your site. I was looking for enchanted ideas. I am planning for my very first journal and want a fantasy/enchanted theme. Love the music too.
I love this! So pretty! That title page turned out so good! I’m going to grab a few of the glue tape you use. They look easier to manage than tombow. Just to try them out. And they’re on sale. lol.
That cover page is gorgeous!! I love the bottles and the decorative letters. I'm so inspired!! I got this same B5 in the black friday sale, and that was mostly because of you. I can't wait to try the larger size. You're giving me all sorts of ideas, which is par for the course lol!
Yay I’ve been so excited to see your 2024 reading journal setup! The colorful fantasy theme is perfect. ❤️ I love having a book bracket in mine too, but I set it up a bit differently. I have one page with my monthly favs (sometimes 3 or 4 star books if nothing wowed me), and I set up my book bracket separately with a selection of my five-star reads. 📚
This is exquisitely beautiful, I started one last year just to keep track of what I'd read but it's not as beautiful as this. So inspired for this year's. May I ask @ErinSmith where you got your star rating stamp from please??
This was incredible! Everything you did was amazing! I especially liked the music you added to this video. I am definitely a fantasy reader and a lot of romantasy too! Now I want to make a reading journal!
Has anyone seen a goal spread for pages read? I’m guessing word count would be hard to figure out, (even though that would be most accurate)but I feel like it’s better for people who read bigger books. Sometimes I see my friends reading so much faster but when I start reading the types of books they read I can see it’s not hard to do, but I still feel like you should feel rewarded for reading classics or lengthy books.
I guess it’s easy enough to track if you’re using StoryGraph etc - you could set it up like a 12 month layout and note how many pages you read each month? I did a daily pages-read tracker for August 2023 but I didn’t enjoy it so I ditched it! 😅
This is so gorgeous! I was leaning towards a dark academia vibe for mine, but this has thrown me into confusion because the fairytale vibes are perfection. Maybe I'll do fairytale library, cover all bases 😂 I bought a lot of shiny things from Journalsay (inspired by you!), so I can definitely do it. My most anticipated read is Alecto the Ninth, the 4th book in the Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir - there's no release date yet but I'm praying its 2024, I imagine probably around October! Not sure it would be up your street, just going by your other reads from this year, it definitely leans a lot more into horror, but I'm obsessed.
Such gorgeous spreads, Erin! I'm in love with how beautiful they all are! The book I'm most excited for is A Ballad of Beasts and Brothers by Morgan Gauthier. It releases in April of 2024 and is the sequel to her book A Song of Shadow and Starlight that I read in August of this year when it released. ❤
I am looking forward to book 14 of the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs (urban fantasy) and the new book of the Chronicle of Elantra by Michelle Sagara (fantasy). I just love those two series. I have reread them several times. I will do a nice spread for each series… at least that’s the plan!
My biggest anticipated reads is Truthfully, Yours by Caden Armstrong which comes out on February 6th - now am I biased because she's one of my best friends? yes. do I think everyone should still read it? also yes.
What a lovely reading journal! I love your fantasy phase in your journals. I’ve been leaning hard into my cute/kawaii pastels and bunnies and cats etc here recently, but you’re making me feel like using some of my more fantasy/whimsical/vintage stuff somewhere. 💜 I used to be a huge reader when I was younger, but these days, it’s mostly video games.. wondering if anyone makes a video game journal? Tempted, now.. since I have such a huge backlog I want to tackle in 2024.
I’m in love with this journal. As an author I was fascinated with cawpile.. as an author, I think this would be a great tool for beta readers. Where did you get the stickers. Thanks for sharing!
Now I feel like I need to get a reading journal! Maybe once I get more in the habit of tracking my reading. Also I feel solid washi’s are so underrated!
It is really fun but also I am pretty behind on my actual book tracking right now so it is definitely one more thing on the list 😅 starting small is definitely the way to go here I think!
Nice way to disguise the cawpile rating slant. Hahaha. I was like "Oh tell me she fixes that later!" because my organization brain compartment was NOT okay with it starting and ending in different columns. 😅
BEAUTIFUL WOW this is so satisfying and your voice is so calming!! i was shocked when i saw that ice planet barbarians has 26books???! WHAT i thought it had like 5 now im scared.
I am really exited for king of sloth : Ana Huang to come out somewhere this year. I am loving the king of sins series and the fact that there will be 7 books in the series in total is very exiting for me since I love her books so much. I have read the first 3 books from the king of sins series so yeah need to wait for king of sloth. (still need to read further in the twisted series from her tho. have only read twisted love until now)
This has given me so many great ideas! I'm about to make my first ever reading journal, it's not going to be this stunning ahah but I'm excited to get started. Also, I spy Ice Planet Barbarians on your Series Tracker spread, one of my favourite series ever, I love the heart and vibes that Ruby Dixon has in all her books - hope you enjoy them!
I hope you have the best time setting up your journal Josephine! 🥰 I’ve read the first four Ice Planet Barbarians so far I think - they are so much fun! I find they’re the perfect way to get out of a reading slump!
This is beaaaautiful! I wouldn’t have thought to do a fantasy theme but it makes total sense to reflect the style of book you usually read My reading journal is a mash-up of galaxy/celestial & vintage because ACOTAR and reading haha The only books from series I’m reading that I know are releasing is Crescent City 3 and Witchlight, but I am especially looking forward to the latter
The only book I currently am waiting for in 2024 is a year away..... The Navigator's Children by Tad Williams expected 12/11/24, the final book in a 5 book series, but the last one was released in 98, i think ohhh, another one, in a series, Chimera's Star by Glynn Stewart 23/01/24 Would you sub catergorise a category? ie like fantasy/ urban fantasy etc?
Wow that’s a long wait for a book! Talk about anticipation! I don’t tend to separate my categories much - on the Maybe Next page they mostly just serve to help me differentiate so I can go ‘I’m in the mood for fluffy romance’ or ‘I want to go on an adventure’ 😂 last year I did a ‘seasonal’ column too that was just for Halloween/Christmas books and I might bring it back… later 😉
I'm currently thinking about my 2024 reading journal set up and got some great ideas from you! Thanks for that 😊 and besides that it turned out lovely! 😍✨
I'm so deep into Danmei right now, so I'm pretty much excited for All the Danmei books being released by seven seas, but especially Guardian by priest and Husky and his white cat shizun by Rou Bao Bu Chi Rou... also excited for the second part of Iron Widow. (Aaand, not a book I'll read Page by Page, but I'm so excited for the Stardew Valley cookbook)
where did you get the rating stamp? I've been looking for one just like that and you don't mention it in the list of supplies (at least not that i see) 7:32
Oh that was a big oversight on my part, sorry about that! I got it from Etsy, I've updated the description to link to it now but I'll pop it here for you too! bit.ly/3Y1b4zn

🥰😘 you’re the sweetest Leah!
@@ErinSmith ❤️❤️❤️
C'est tellement beau 😍
The goal page with that gilded book border is such a cool idea.
I'm using the same A&O journal for my reading and media journal. Your setup is lovely.
Your journal is simply gorgeous.
Thank you so much Lola! 🥰
This is exquisitely beautiful, I started one last year just to keep track of what I'd read but it's not as beautiful as this. So inspired for this year's. May I ask @ErinSmith where you got your star rating stamp from please??
I got mine from Etsy, but there are a lot of options out there - I’ve linked a couple in the description 🥰
This is my fav reading journal i’ve seen so far!! Very inspiring for my own! I think i’m gonna dabble in themes but i love the vintage theme of yours
Thank you so much! 🥰 I switch up my theme every month, it helps to keep it fresh-feeling!
This was incredible! Everything you did was amazing! I especially liked the music you added to this video. I am definitely a fantasy reader and a lot of romantasy too! Now I want to make a reading journal!
I had fun choosing music for this one, I’m so glad you liked it! Epic fantasy vibes 🥰
I love this aesthetic. It’s so magical and regal💗
Thank you so much! 🥰

It’s beautiful dear 😍😍😍🤍
🥰✨📚
Just gorgeous 👏🏻💛😊
Thank you so much! 😊
I love love love your style!!!
This is so magical! I’m starting a reading journal for 2024. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend the PERN series by Anne McCaffrey - some books also written with her son Todd 💖
FAIRYTALE LIBRARY! That sounds amazing! 😍
Those are SUCH beautiful titles - I might just pop them on my Maybe Next page 😍 happy 2024 reading Hannah!
@@ErinSmith They're great fantasy books! Enemies to lovers as well, so I know they're a big hit. 😂 Happy 2024 reading to you as well! ❤️
This is so beautiful and creative ❤. I wish I was this talented 😅
Lovely!
Your reading journal is looking awesome. I have yet to start setting up mine for next year, but it is on my list.
My biggest anticipated reads is Truthfully, Yours by Caden Armstrong which comes out on February 6th - now am I biased because she's one of my best friends? yes. do I think everyone should still read it? also yes.
You are an incredible friend. Thank you for putting this on my radar!
A video game journal would be so cool! 😍
I’m in love with this journal.
As an author I was fascinated with cawpile.. as an author, I think this would be a great tool for beta readers.
Where did you get the stickers.
Thanks for sharing!
All the stickers are linked in the description but most of them are from JournalSay 🥰
Sometimes I’m so careful about those things, and sometimes I’m a little too into my audiobook and forget to pay attention 🤣
the music is perfect 😍
BEAUTIFUL WOW this is so satisfying and your voice is so calming!! i was shocked when i saw that ice planet barbarians has 26books???! WHAT i thought it had like 5 now im scared.
Some of them are novellas to be fair - and the longer ones are still pretty short but yes SO MANY
All your journals are beautiful
I wouldn’t have thought to do a fantasy theme but it makes total sense to reflect the style of book you usually read
My reading journal is a mash-up of galaxy/celestial & vintage because ACOTAR and reading haha
The only books from series I’m reading that I know are releasing is Crescent City 3 and Witchlight, but I am especially looking forward to the latter
I love the bigger set up! 😍
It feels so SPACIOUS 🥰
The only book I currently am waiting for in 2024 is a year away..... The Navigator's Children by Tad Williams expected 12/11/24, the final book in a 5 book series, but the last one was released in 98, i think
ohhh, another one, in a series, Chimera's Star by Glynn Stewart 23/01/24
Would you sub catergorise a category? ie like fantasy/ urban fantasy etc?
Wow that’s a long wait for a book! Talk about anticipation!
I don’t tend to separate my categories much - on the Maybe Next page they mostly just serve to help me differentiate so I can go ‘I’m in the mood for fluffy romance’ or ‘I want to go on an adventure’ 😂 last year I did a ‘seasonal’ column too that was just for Halloween/Christmas books and I might bring it back… later 😉
Beautiful setup
Absolutely love this!! ❤
I love this so much 😩
I'm currently thinking about my 2024 reading journal set up and got some great ideas from you! Thanks for that 😊 and besides that it turned out lovely! 😍✨
Thank you so much Nele! It’s so exciting setting up a new reading journal, I hope you have the best time with yours! 🏰✨🔮🥰
Where did you get your adorable ruler? So cute. 💜
Thanks for asking - I'd forgotten to link that one! I got it from EasyCraftArt, there's a link in the description now! 💜
@@ErinSmith Thank you so much! I love your videos. I'm always so inspired. 🥰
where did you get the rating stamp? I've been looking for one just like that and you don't mention it in the list of supplies (at least not that i see) 7:32
Oh that was a big oversight on my part, sorry about that! I got it from Etsy, I've updated the description to link to it now but I'll pop it here for you too!

thank you so much!!!
