He would fucking hate me, I smile at people and say "hm!" and look at things I've never had. I stand out of the way of carts and if someone looks like they are waiting, I scoot. This man hasn't figured out the most basic ways to interact with other human beings and his reaction is to cry like a baby rather than adapt.
Here, Dave, I have a tutorial:
"Hey, I just need to grab the ketchup, can I get in there real quick?"
Or if that is still scary and gives you the tummy pain, go get the lettuce or whatever and then return to the ketchup aisle
