I own a 2016 390 and 2018 690R. Love bother bikes to death. Both bikes have different purposes in my opinion. 390 best for commuting 690 for cruising but both capable of both. General day to day fun factor. 390 hands down. Great vid mate
you prolly dont care but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
@Arjun Moses Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I have a KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and the 690 Duke with Supermoto tires, in this video (and a Motto Guzzi Stelvio), I'm not sure which KTM I like more to be honest. Totally right about the steering on the Duke. It sometimes feels very wonky.
Those stops could be a grey area IMO. In the US if operating a motor vehicle you do have to show id and proof of insurance (Lost wallet and got pulled over, bad day but judge let it go). Where the probable cause comes from is the call to the sheriff. However if the call was something like "Those people are always doing it here" and a prior day then the probable cause is very shady. A reasonable officer would have been "We got a call.... Didn't see you but if you're part of that group know we are out here. Drive safe." One maybe two minutes then done. Just my 2 cents worth. Edit: Another 2 cents. If someone calls in 4 door cars racing on that road are they going to stop all the cars? No
AlexAlz hey I live in the GTA and I'm thinking of buying the Duke 390 as well. May I ask how much you paid for yours and what dealership you bought it from?
Financing on them is so good. Mine was $7k after everything and only $160 of that is interest. How is insurance for you? I'm getting destroyed with 2400/yr(full coverage, M2, 3rd year, 1 accident/2pts), but considering I was paying 1400/yr for my old '79 CB400T(just liability), I guess it's not that bad. Have fun. First 1000km on mine have been a blast.
Roll the bars back to you so when you stand beside the bike bars are level,, as supplied by ktm they are angled forward to much,, suits me better than stock,, from Northern Ireland ride safe ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
Its cool to see the 390 do so well! The little engine that could haha. Hey, on your view duration- the reason for it is your core audience will watch 90-100% of the video, whereas random viewers may only watch 10%- there actually isnt THAT much in between, so its typical to see a bit less that 50% video length as average duration.
@@HotdogSosage it has always been considered small in America- because it is physically small, and because 390cc is small. When was the duke NOT considered small. In fact when it was released im pretty sure small was a marketing point lol
I have no experience on a bike, well a scooter but yeah... I always wanted to drive one though, but as we don't automatically get a license for a motorcycle anymore, with the license for cars, I never really had the chance. Cause I would have to get the license first, but I would only throw my money away on that (yes it's just that expensive up here...) if I'm certain to get a bike. I've always been a fan of KTM, the looks are amazing and I know quite some people owning one and they are very positive about it so. I was always looking at the dukes on their website, god who knows how many times I've looked it up xD But I always keep doubting if I would go for the 390 or just straight up go for the 690. I wonder if the 690 might be a bit to much for a beginner and if it's really worth it, idk about other countries, but it's about twice the price of a 390. Allthough is the 690 really that much more exciting overall or is it only making it's difference when you are using that extra hp etc. I guess the 390 is much more ideal for a beginner as it is also extremely light and still very fast if you want it to be. But I don't want to get that feeling that if you get a 390, you are constantly thinking about why you just didn't go for the 690 haha. 690 would be the limit though, haven't looked into the 790 to much yet and the superduke etc. is off limits for me, at least for now xD
Can you help me decide. I’m a returning rider and 5’4”. I’m looking at 2017 390 duke($5299) and 2014 ktm duke 690($5499) both are new. I’m planning to use it to go to work 5 days a week about 25 miles each way. Considering all fuel mileage and maintenance , what is the most practical one? What about the insurance? Does the bigger engine displacement cost more? Thank you so much. Please reply asap I cant wait to get the bike soon.:)
Sit on them both and ride them if you can. Bigger engine will mean higher insurance, but when it comes to brand new bikes insurance will be high either way.
Man I love that sound out of the corners. How much better would you guess the 690 is for a tall rider. I'm not close to getting one but I'm 6'4" and just wondering if the 390 would be to compact. Just thoughts.
The 390 has plenty of room and stays very controlled and smooth throughout almost all of its rpms. The 690 is bigger but I personally feel more comfortable with the size of it because its what I'm used to. Its so light you can pick up the rear end and move the bike around in the garage quite easily. The seat on the 390 is angled downward toward the front which feels good in the corners but not so good just cruising a straight away. The 690 seat sits further away from the foot pegs compared to the 390. Gives you more leg room. Foot controls sit further up than the 390. And the 690 bars definitely keep you in a more upright position. Best thing to do is ride them both for a lengthy ride and see which one you like. Keep in mind with about $1k you can make these bikes much quicker.
TheGreatLaker what do you think with that statment for 1k$ you can make it a lot quicker, with what mods ? Im thinking of getting the duke 390 or mt07 but i am a new driver so would like to know what you think, thanks
That was changed in the US for 2018 and on. KTM now warranties everything but wear items and such. The warranty link on the website brings up the 2017 version.
ehehe u know I had the same choice ... i am going ahead with duke 390 because I`m inexperienced rider and I got a good deal for brand new, i hope it`s a good choice ... if not in 2 years I`ll get a fz 07 hehhe

you think the 390 is a better starter bike for a beginner or the 690? since you have been on both
Great video as usual, all the way to the end. Really liked the comparisons! Keep these coming👍🏻

@Ryker Lennox instablaster ;)

@Arjun Moses It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
@Ryker Lennox You are welcome xD

Do a review of the 790 once it comes out on February.

What sprocket changes did your buddy make to his 390?
Just bought my duke 390. First bike. Greetings from toronto
AlexAlz hey I live in the GTA and I'm thinking of buying the Duke 390 as well. May I ask how much you paid for yours and what dealership you bought it from?
Gpbikes brother. They got a killer deal. Got my 2017 for 5k. Ask for Ginny. They also offer 0.99% financing

I'm 1400 fresh M2 but I'm located around bradford area.
That's pretty good. Keep a clean record and it should go down more. Got my renewal yesterday and it's down to 105/month now.
Which one of those 2 would you recommend as beginner bike ?
Man I need to make my 690 sound like that. That’s the same exhaust I want.
I have a "Shark" exhaust system onder my 690 and it souds even deeper and louder!

Why is 390 considered small nowadays?

Crazy how a gen 1 390 an pull out infront the new 390 like your 690 did. I saw couple videos of them
Nice bike. I’m trying to decide between the two bikes.
Haha the feet hangin out the front. I need to try that
As some other people asked, what's the sprocket setup on the 390?
Made it to the end of the video! ...and liked :D
Any issues with 690 using oil???
It's fall in Redding season I'm surprised you didn't run into a deer.

I grew up on a Yamaha tw200. Do you guys think id get bored of a 390 after a year?
It depends, but I believe you will get bored.
Do you need to tune the Duke 390 after decat?
you need to apply a new Fuel mapping on your ECU thats all
No
I didn't runs perfect
what is the new gearing of the 390?
whats the song at the end of the vid?
Are you in nashville?

What music was playing in the beginning
Haters gon hate haha
I have that same exact arai helmet you buddy does. Good color match with my 390.
Everyone who falls in love with KTM bikes should know that there's 0 warranty on electronics. :D
Microphunktv KTM doesn’t have a warranty on them but Bosch will warranty anything on that bike that they make no questions asked.
That was changed in the US for 2018 and on. KTM now warranties everything but wear items and such. The warranty link on the website brings up the 2017 version.
Yamaha FZ 07 or Ktm 390 ?
ehehe u know I had the same choice ... i am going ahead with duke 390 because I`m inexperienced rider and I got a good deal for brand new, i hope it`s a good choice ... if not in 2 years I`ll get a fz 07 hehhe

The comparison to the mt07 kinda puts me off
