Was lucky enough to get to speak with Godfather at Wales Comic Con last year and according to him he didn't miss his cue because he wasn't given it. He was told to stay behind the curtain until he was instructed to make his way to the ring. The instruction didn't come, so he didn't move until someone realised THEIR mistake and sent him out there.
Isn't he just a nice guy! I met him and he told me if I ever got to meet the undertaker I had to ask him about the fight over his stetson. And I did get to meet taker and he told me the story.
I don’t know, I guess he’s cool when he wants to be. He about ran over my buddy pulling into the venue for Judgement Day 2000, then proceeded to aggressively gesture at him lol.
I would castrate myself on live broadcast without anesthetic or any form of tourniquet just for a chance to meet and shake hands with The Undertaker. You lucky, lucky human being.
Hogan vs Flair would've been a big main event to end the Golden era for the WWF, but instead we got one of the most disastrous WM main event of all time.
I think that Flair vs. Hogan at WrestleMania 8 would have been a huge disappointment. I certainly wouldn't exchange it for the Flair and Macho program we got instead.
The main event of Wrestlemania wasn't Hogan vs. Flair because Sid had been guaranteed a Wrestlemania main event against Hogan as part of his agreement when he jumped from WCW in 1991. That's why Sid allegedly turned down $700,000 per year guaranteed from WCW. He thought the Hogan match would increase his viability long term. Sid himself has since admitted this was a mistake and he should have taken the cash.
With how long the entrance way was for Wrestlemania 8 he would have had to set off long long before Hogan dropped the leg, and as soon as the crowd saw him they would have known shenanigans were coming. Was a poor idea of a spot from whoever put the match together.
Only works in the right instance. They banked it on Ultimate Warrior's return. Place went berserk, and I think it would've worked had they actually executed it, but so much went wrong looking back. Wright has said that no one cued him, as he couldn't see that far back. Just a disaster all around.
Hot take: Hogan vs Sid could have been really good, if they had chosen not to ignore the Hulkster turning heel at the end of the '92 Royal Rumble while keeping Sid as a babyface. The story going into 'mania would have actually made sense, imagine that! But i guess Hogan wasn't ready to acknowledge the decline of Hulkamania yet (even 4 years later he wasn't sure about the whole NWO thing until he saw the fan reaction).
According to Hogan ( so take it as you will), he wanted to turn heel at WM 6 after he lost to Warrior. He even claims that then he would become Hollywood Hogan. Lol.
@@LibraJohnny true that, so yup take it with a grain of salt. But I also believe one of the reasons Hogan vs Flair didn't happen at WM was poor draws, and receptions at house shows leading up to it. I think in Feb of 92 I went to a house show that had Hogan ,and Piper, vs Flair, and Undertaker as the main event, and it was pretty sparse crowd. Idk, but yeah Hogan is an unreliable narrator for sure
Why can't I find like 10 best WWE matches 1992? You always remind us what sucks, how about some balance, enlightening newer fans about what was good? There were some gems in the 90s too
For all the crap Pappa gets for messing up his entrance that still doesn’t take away from fact that the original plan was for the main event of WrestleMania to end on a DQ run-in involving someone with no storyline connection to either wrestlers in the match. Botched? Sure. BUT IT WAS ALWAYS AN EXTREMELY STUPID ENDING!!!
I was 3 years old in 1992, so I don't remember that year, as the matter of fact I became pro-wrestling fan in 2002 and Hulk Hogan was my fav. June and July in Smackdown! Hulkster didn't lose single match, then in August 2002 Hulkster lost to Brock Lesnar in Smackdown!
@jsmith3946 Gorilla position is the area behind the curtains. It's named after Gorilla Monsoon who was always found there watching monitors of the ring
With only the PPV matches, you had a total of about 31 matches to chose from. Nearly 1/3rd of the available matches are on your list. You could have a 10 best, 10 worst, and 11 other list. The series gets sillier and sillier. Pretty soon the 10 worst and 10 best match lists will have some of the same matches. Maybe watch some TV? You at least had some SNME in this year.
In order to win the coffin match you had to pin them and then put them in the coffin and nail it shut. That's why the bell rang after Kamala was in the coffin.
At the end of 1991 I started watching wrestling 92 was the first full year I started watching professional wrestling these were terrible matches but as a six as a five or six year old child awesome
Hulk vs Sid was a good match and the finish wasn't horrible. Sid kicking out waa better than the original plan anyways. Unfortunately Sid left soon after
Nothing on riddle but a boxing match with Jake would be a miss match, he'd be better signing for the pfl MMA company, if he wants to get back into MMA though.. hope he keep wrestling though as he's Pretty decent tbh
I would second that. His matches were little more than nightstick beatdowns. I saw Nailz fight Virgil at a house show in absolute silence, and it was uncomfortable. The Boss Man's injury absence angle really hurt his momentum at a time when he was really getting over as a face. And that's without even mentioning everything Nailz's performer did outside the ring.

I’m sure in his version of events it wasn’t his fault …

I think that Flair vs. Hogan at WrestleMania 8 would have been a huge disappointment. I certainly wouldn't exchange it for the Flair and Macho program we got instead.
Did Hogan ever have a proper main event against Flair?
@@The_Chef2511 They wrestled on the house show circuit. Supposedly, those shows didn't draw very well.

Absolutely loved Earthquake, great big man wrestler
Kudos to the editor, the Pachitti photoshop was ON POINT in this one!
Any match involving Nailz is candidate for worst match ever.
Poor Charles Wright! Wonder what happened to him after this mistake!?

Repo Man, on the Worse matches of 1992? Simon Miller would like to have a word with you 🤣
I will NEVER understand booking a run-in to end the main event of Wrestlemania! Even if Papa Shango hadn't missed his cue, that would be a bad ending.
Only works in the right instance. They banked it on Ultimate Warrior's return. Place went berserk, and I think it would've worked had they actually executed it, but so much went wrong looking back. Wright has said that no one cued him, as he couldn't see that far back. Just a disaster all around.
That look on Shangos face will always be pure gold. You can litterally see him shitting himself in his eyes
I’m calling Simon over criticizing the repo man
I recently watched the undertaker vs kamala coffin match and i still like despite the pinfall victory instead of rolling them in to the coffin to win.
Bro, 1992 has no business making me laugh so hard. Just what are these matches!? 😂 And worse yet; it had to be at MOSTLY their biggest PPVs?!
A nightstick on a pole match? Did Vince Russo work for WWF in 1992?
Know why Charles Wright can never finish the alphabet?
He always misses his cue
I'm surprised that the Vinnie Vegas in that Detroit Back Alley Handicap match wasn't on the list. 😮

At the Rumble, they shoulda made Hogan eliminated Sid first, then Flair woulda eliminated Hogan thanks to Sid.

Macho Man stealing the show halfway through the card at Mania two years in a row while Hogan stunk up the main event.

1992 really was a terrible year. The roster turnover was crazy.
It was poor but certainly not as bad as 1995 that is the worse ever year in WWE.
I was born in 1981 so I was 11 in 1992. This cartoon world was what made me the wrestling fan I am. Don't knock it if you didn't live it.
Hacksaw and the Bushwhackers Vs Mountie and the Nasty Boys at Summerslam a glaring omission for me

The moment the warrior returns is a top mania moment. Especially if you saw it live when you were 10.
They usually make these lists based purely on hindsight.
..........Then the subsequent "OMG! It's not the same guy.... Is he dead????" rumours. 😀
To be fair, Mania is split across two nights now, so they can get away with having two main events with one to finish each night.
Wasnt Shango's fault. He was at gorilla and ran as soon as he was told to
at gorilla what does that mean
@jsmith3946 Gorilla position is the area behind the curtains. It's named after Gorilla Monsoon who was always found there watching monitors of the ring
10:02: That'd still be better than Higan Vs, Sid.
3:15 They were running out of time so much Berserker vs British Bulldog was cut altogether
Was that Bill Alphonso at 3:41? Lol
Honorable Mention: Kevin Nash vs Young Harlem Heat Handicap Match in July of 1992
It's still NOT FAIR TO FLAIR
Beverly Brothers vs Bushwackers should have been number one.
How dare you. Jamison was a hero to children everywhere.
Hogan vs Sid was awful, but Flair vs Savage was probably better than what we would've gotten out of Flair vs Hogan, to be fair.

I like Sid vs Hogan tbh, because it means we got Flair vs Macho which was a much better match than Hogan would have allowed to happen.
