- Blue Lou
JAZZ AT THE PHILHARMONIC
Poplar Town Hall, London, United Kingdom
November, 26, 1966
Coleman Hawkins (ts), Benny Carter (as), Teddy Wilson (p), Bob Cranshaw (b), Louie Bellson (d).
Blue Lou is one of my favourite tunes. Unfortunately seldom heard these days.
Great job by always dependable Bob Cranshaw. He knows what a bass player should sound like and he always delivers.
fantastic!
These are great musicians who could do this in their sleep.
Hawk died just 2 months after this famous March 1969 concert (not 11/66), which was some of his best playing in 4 years.
The November 26, 1966 date is correct.
