Man when I first saw the d.v.d on this anime I had only one thought on my mind as I had grown up watching Tranzor Z back in the 80's and that is 'Man what if Tommy was in control of this robot instead because if he was Dr. Demon and his forces wouldn't stand a chance against Mazinkaiser' now that is an awesome thought.
Of course, Mazinger Z/Tranzor Z is stated to give the user the power of a god or a devil, Mazinkaiser's power can exceed a god and conquer the devil. Mazinger ZERO has two sayings from Super Robot Wars V 'To go beyond a god, and defeat even a demon' or borrow what I think might be the Mazinger ZERO's Manga tag line 'A God that saves the world... Or a Devil that will destroy it?'

Spoilers warning just in case anyone wants to avoid being spoiled In the first episode of the Mazinkaiser OVA Baron Ashura managed to defeat Kouji by immobilizing Mazinger Z and yeeting his pilder into the sky. Then they proceeded to take Mazinger Z and modified and renamed it "Ashura Mazinger" before attacking the Photon labs. Also it's Baron Ashura (with the help of a few minions) who's piloting Z in that scene.
