    Just completed a race weekend where we had a field of 50 E-30 BMW’s in close competition, but one of my dreams would be a chance taking part in a classic race at Le Mans. Great driving, great car and thanks for sharing!

    Gee! Seeing the way the driver is wrestling the steering wheel . . . To think that back in 1967 that AJ Foyt, driving the Mk IV version of the GT40, had to do back-to-back driving stints at night because co-driver Dan Gurney overslept.

    • @rebeccabailey527
      @rebeccabailey527 Год назад

      The mk iv and the gt were entirely different cars. The only thing carried over was the 427.

    • @brianhartley2258
      @brianhartley2258 Год назад +1

      @@rebeccabailey527 Technically, bloqk was not in error, as the Mk IV was the _fourth generation_ of the GT40, as he did describe the Mk IV as a _version_ of the GT40. There are plenty of websites, from credible sources, that attribute to that.

    I ve done this on the simulator an i love these first few turns they are the most challenging an i push as hard as i can thru there because its so fun....just getting the best the car can give u ....3:33 is the best in a rear drive only car...oh yeah the porsche curves are fun too...as long as u get the first one right

    • @jdr8393
      @jdr8393  Год назад +1

      Porsche curves are definitely the trickiest part of the track, especially with this car ! Getting the right entry speed on the first one to then keep the momentum through the whole section was the most challenging part of the week end ! And on the video I'm still faaaar from the car's limit, was only my tenth lap around the track !

    I had no idea the car has a red light, that indicates you when it's time to shift gear up. Anyways, this brings back memories of myself playing GT2 , the Gulf GT40 was such a pleasure to drive. Great experience we can enjoy today thanks to modern tech like GoPros 🚬🧐

    • @rebeccabailey527
      @rebeccabailey527 Год назад +1

      The red light wasn't in the original cars, that's more than likely a safir spares or superperformance continuation Ford gt. Meaning it's a new car.

    • @jdr8393
      @jdr8393  Год назад +2

      Totally agree, but to get the right timing while keeping the performance is quite hard with this old lady. Therefore I prefered not to do it and focus on my driving while being gentle with the gearbox !

    • @doctorhouxoflemans
      @doctorhouxoflemans Год назад +2

      Totally agree. I have a Mk 1 and you are so busy concentrating on your line and watching for upcoming traffic that rev double declutching and rev matching too is just too much for an amateur driver like me. I’m also not brave enough to change up at 7.000 as you do. 6,300 is as far as I can safely take my small block. Can’t wait for LMC 2023 👍🏁

      While I understand your point of view, please know that most of the drivers during Le Mans Classic are gentleman's. Therefore bringing back one of the most dangerous straight line of the world during such an event doesn't seem like a good idea.
      Also as a reminder, at the time, many professional drivers didn't want to drive at Le Mans because it wasn't safe enough.
