12:10 that bit right here is so true. I'm actually a big jazz fan, and I always struggled to wrap my mind around rap. It was hearing Kendrick and feeling his connection with jazz and how he informs his music with jazz vocabulary that I was able to establish a connection with rap. Music is so magical at times.
Incredible how Rick Rubin with his wealth of music experience in all genres can genuinely be so interested in everything Kendrick is saying and even when Kendrick talks about being a minimalist, Rick doesn't come in telling him about how Rick has been doing that for decades and just let's him speak.

😍😍 Kendrick is so amazingly humble. So talented. My son introduced his music to me, when he was in high school. I was in my 40’s and I love his music, and love him as person.
in my opinion Kendrick is a great lyricist because he's great at speaking and explaining, and Rick is a great producer because he's great at listening to others and asking curious questions
