I’ve just watched your video about RUclips and its viability. In my opinion there’s a few things I’d like to see. Instead of reviewing the cars that are in for repair in the yard, I’d rather look at more straight talking (instead of all the comedy and never mind how well other channels are doing) diagnostic procedures, fault finding and then the subsequent repair. I’d also like to see the tuning work on the dyno, workshop tour, toolboxes and benches, the new workshop set up, the engine room and builds, and how the techs work on cars. Even the polishing process could be interesting. Out to recovery jobs and working on the bikes/cars at the race circuit. The intro in the yard talking about the broken cars is boring. I really enjoy the description of how things work and explaining the reason for things that make cars go fast. Just a few observations but well done so far. It won’t be long till you’re up there with the amateur that Matt is. He’s like a bull in a china shop the way he goes about repairs and breaking stuff.
So you basically want pretty much what we do already if you watch our back catalogue! 😂🤪
Geez and make him a cup of tea (shit tea 🤭) and biscuits 🍪
anything else sir ?🤭👌
I've very little knowledge of how cars work, screenwash a tyre pressures are my limit.
But this is just an absolute joy to watch a master of his craft at work 🚗🔥💖
A full 90min video for a sat night, we are being spoiled with this content. And your idea regarding selling used components such as pistons, conrods etc as paperweights/useless desk toys is definitely something I’d go for.
Thank you!
We will try and put together something on our webshop then for used parts!
Care and expertise first, then efficient speed. Being organised is the watchword.
I love to have a V10 just to have you look after it. Pure class. Thank you Ricky.
Ace vid Rick now I'm a qualified lambo tech after watching that lol keep the great content comin and keep the music off
Thank you glad you enjoyed it!
Wow Rik, I have to say I am in absolute awe of the methodology and precise process you use when stripping an engine, understanding at every turn what to do next and how to do it properly and for the most part without even thinking about it. I mean its like you desinged the engine yourself and know it inside out, backwards and forwards. As a life long engineer who started off in automotive enigeering I respect and appreciate, hugely, your outstanding workmanship. Thank you for sharing your work and sharing it with your subscribers in such a high level of detail and more importantly taking the time to explain the why.
Thank you so much! 13 years working on this V10 now so feels like I know them better than my kids! 😂😂 glad you enjoy the vids!
Apologies if you have done it before but have you ever done a video about how you started and how you got to the level of expertise you’re at now. I’d find it very interesting 👌🏻
Dr Rick you make it look very easy. Awesome video so much knowledge. Love the work
Thank you for watching.
Ricky - great video. Can I suggest giving Karl’s crowdfund a mention - it would be great to get it over line, don’t you think.
How has Mat Armstrong got 1 million subs and you've only got 18K?? Makes no sense!
That's life unfortunately.
Inversely proportional to engineering skill..
Thank you that’s very kind, but we know Mat well and he has worked extremely hard for much longer than our channel has been going!
As long as you guys enjoy the vids that’s ask that matters!
@@ironmantooltime I follow a guy that rebuilds fighter jet engines and he's under 200k subscribers.
His complete engine strip and rebuild videos have under 1000 views.
An engineer with exceptional mechanical abilities stripping down fixing and rebuilding fighter jet engines on his own.
Explaining everything about them to the last detail and no one watches.
Then on the other hand you have certain channels with a big mass of followers that basically can't follow workshop manuals. They don't know how stuff works. All they can do is buy parts and replace them in a 17 min video.
Now I'm not saying that there's something wrong with those people.
It's just the way it is,there are so many channels where people with exceptional levels of knowledge and expertise (like this channel) share their knowledge and go in depth on how things work and they all have low subscriber base.
It's all because of the attention span of the audience and actual interest in how things work. Most of the people don't care how and why, they don't care about the engineering behind the things all they care about is watching broken stuff get shiny again.
Slap a vinyl wrap on it,some badly cncd parts, something carbon and the crowd goes wild.
It's a decline in attention span and average intelligence levels among the general population.
@@TheCerovec I don't know its a decline, its just exposing what's always been. 👍 Check out cee engineering and Bruce in oz, golden 😎
Your getting proper good at this now Rikki you deserve a lot more Subs m8, it will come.
Thank you! Yeah it’s always growing which is the main thing!
Will also get him alot more work cause people can see he does it right and knows a stupid amount about engines 😊😊
Fascinating video, could I respectfully suggest that the zoom in shots could be a little clearer and closer, imo.
Thanks for knowledge
You’re very welcome. Thank you.
Great vid as always, 2 brews and an empty packet of biscuits......Happy days 🤣👍
Another fantastic informative video into the amount of knowledge and skill you have Rikki I know this is a race Engine what is a ball park figure for parts on this ? I won’t ask about labour as I’m sure you charge £25 an hour lol 😂 keep up the good work 🤙
Great video...I'm a bike guy, so I'm more into your bike build and racing videos. Love GT racing so this is interesting, and is very therapeutic just watching an engine tear down anyway.. You have a great way in explaining everything and not overcomplicating stuff with too many technical terms...and..Chocolate Hob Nobs! 👍🤘🏍
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes the GT3 engines are great to work on as the stress analysis is all based around average rpm over general load or combustion pressure say like on a twin turbo.
@@REPerformanceUK what compression do you go for when turboing a huracan? do you lower to 10.5?
Id have that in bits i 30 mins would never run again mind u.😁😁great work love it 🤙🤙
Nice seeing cast chain guides and not full plastic guides that get brittle. Are the street V10's that way? STO? It almost looks like the engine entraps dirty oil in some areas. Awesome video!!!
Yes, same engine. All huracans/ r8’s have the race engine from their gt3 cars
When you lifted the timing cover out of the pan, it was too afraid to drip on the floor! 😄😄😄
Thanks Ryan, rear enjoyed the video and the strip down of the engine. 👍
Brilliance
My new favorite channel. Keep up the quality content.
Thanks! Will do!
That engine has been tuned to perfection. Probably 13 AFR by looking at those valves and pistons
Yeah can’t beat well tuned and race gas!!
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Larry, great content, I love everything bmw you do!
What is the outcome music you have on your channel please?
Fantastic video, wonderful for engine nerds who never got the chance to even look at one of these apart.
Also what is that stonking thing sitting on the blue crate? Looks V12, but too big to be the murcielago's?
Always great to see a V10
Knowledge is power .another superb video Rick
Thank you kindly
Love your videos! Can you please do a video of the reassemble of this engine too? I’m about to pull the engine of my 2009 LP560 to reseal the timing covers, and want to know how the expert is resealing these covers the correct way! Can’t find any info regarding this in the workshop manual!
Another really interesting tutorial!
Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Watching you work Ricky is an eye opener to how well you know these V10 engines! You are a Master Mechanic/ Technician/ and Fount of all Knowledge ! Would love to see you document rebuilding this particular engine. Can you tell us why that oil and its deposits are so black ? Given what you said in this vid I presume it's some sort of interaction with the 'race' fuel and the oil? Can you elaborate on this subject please? And how ' trick' is the race fuel? Sorry for the dumb to some question, but I've no knowledge of modern race fuels and how they differ from normal petrol, other than the methanol of the old days. And I agree with tunnel7 that you deserve far more subscribers than you have. And to think that a certain MA who i think personally is a total twat getting a million subs, there must be 999,999 other twats out there too!
Great video Ricky! I’ll be checking the invoice labour time if I have an r8 engine refresh now 😊😂
Awesome guys!! Keep these videos up. Maybe an assembly video of the v10? I engine rs3 2.5 videos
Yeah we are planning to do the rebuild on video as well!!
Excellent, really enjoyed watching this. Look forward to watching the assembly. 👌👍. Q, Are they Titanium Rods? Thanks for sharing.😊
Great video guys love watching
That’s also a BMW engine stand
Hi where is number two knock sensor please . In the V?
Longtime subscriber here Ricky - was listening to every detail for the entire 1.5 hrs.- Can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to share you expert knowledge on all of these amazing pieces of engineering. What is the best way to contact you directly? Cheers
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy the videos! Jump on the site and drop us an email or use IG. Cheers
Hi, which T-handle are you using?
I ordered the Larini sport cats for my 2008 gallardo superleggara based on your recommendation. They haven't got here yet but hopefully soon. Was wondering if you have an alternative after market exhaust clamps and cone gaskets for these? The lamborghini parts end up being $404.53 each that is just stupid lol
Where can I get one of those T bar extensions with the blue knurling ??
...Super ❤...
Wow, I don’t know how you do it , and remember were it all goes, I take my hat off to you , well done 👍
Thank you!!
Great content as usual.
Much appreciated!
Nice lint free rag 😉
Strip down…… 😉
...super...
...dzieki...
Just watched the video and not long been a subscriber so bare with me if explained in other videos.
Watched it back a few time but can you explain why the cams didn’t fall out when you lifted the housing off.
Also can you hone the bores, just curious how things have changed
Never had a piston out of a car or truck since 1999
God time flys 😂
Hey dude, I've been glude for yonks (keep up the excellent content, without the music 😉🤣) Often wondered where did you learn your trade. You're into some serious shit, especially this gearbox strip.
super!!!
Thank you! Cheers!

Great video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍
...Dziękuję❤...
...yooouuu...
Love the attention to detail. Great content.
Much appreciated!
How have you acquired this much knowledge!!! Who taught you?
I think within a year your channel is going to blow up big time, most people really appreciate great workmanship - keep making the vids and the fruits of your effort will come full circle.
What T handle do you use?
Snap on turbo t handle.
Technical Question😂 Where does all the waste go, after the engine is put in the wash tank ? Does it get emptied each wash? Or does it get stored and you just drain the machine off when it’s full?
The Motul tank looks after itself, the hot wash is drained and disposed of with a specialist company.
If there is no indications of any issues with the engine is the strip down just for piece of mind as part of a engine swap?
No the engine was running fine it’s just a refresh due to reaching service mileage!
Nice tool trolley 😁
Snap on! 😉
I don’t get it you pay your rent/lease work your nuts off only to find out that some battle ax wants you out WTAF . I’m sure you’ll be fine 👍
You looked tired after that Rick……… Those valves look like the engine was run on methanol!!! Am sure are Grasstrack motors valves looked like that…. Was 50 years ago so memory might be a bit blurry…..!!!
Ha ha was a long day! Yeah race gas burns a lovely colour!!
...wow111...

I have anxiety thinking, what bolt goes where, and in which order 😂😂😂😂
Ah rebuilt loads now. I keep them all organised but you could throw it in a pile and I’d figure it out! lol

1 Million followers for a peddle bike rider, what is this world coming to? I know who you are but,had to google Matt Armstrong
I like your work. It impresses me. Sorry you not got a million wievers, you deserve it. I really enjoy your videos. Your knowledge about engines is something I envy you. Wish I had the same knowledge.
It will come…something that big always takes time!!
