Same that is going to be a master level mode it can be a seasonal mode for selection. The problems were those. No detailed explanation of what the whole thing implies and the no choice decision.
We must not take theses news as a win or loose situation. Lets be constructive and creative and get analysis of what is the perspective. A seasonal structure can be use for fresh new option. I am imagining it as a narrative tool i where instead of a isolated bunch of characters in your pool you get a group where you decide your niche of work (technician, survivalist, etc and new ones with different and new possibilities). But now has to be optional. With incentives to get them as the better loot prize. Till now and these news has been like saying that for continue the play you have to complete Paradise Lost incursion as mandatory.
Good thing by the way to see and hear all kind the opinions Grock

People have been maxed out on gear for over 3 years. Crazy to me people rather continue playing on a maxed out character that offers no more progressions, growth and leaves the player with no goal. If people read the notes, seasonal character XP progression is much faster than on normal characters.

Funny how you say our current player is maxed out and has no more progression or further goals but the devs adding more content into the game will give use those new goals and progression. The only reason accounts are sitting around without goals and progression is because there is literally nothing else to do.
The argument of “people just want to breeze past content” isn’t actually an argument because difficulties are a thing. If someone wants to breeze past content they are going to play on normal difficulty regardless where any build stomps no matter how bad it is.
They also explained how getting a seasonal char up to lvl 40 could take up to 15 hours worth of gameplay. I’m sorry but I am not gonna spend 15 hours *per season* re-leveling my character up so I can finally have access to my gear that I also had to spend tons of time and effort on. And no; I’m not saying for the sake of just wanting my “meta builds” back so I can cheese content (already explained why that isn’t an argument) but it’s just about how fun the gear I have is to use. They went about resetting the char the wrong way, I wouldn’t have cared if the seasonal char had access to all of your gear but at level 1, and then you had to grind to 40. Because at least I’d be able to use fun guns and builds like my true patriot Ravenous build. But starting completely fresh negates the fun, because I have to start all over with base gear and base guns. Even then, 15 hours to level back to 40 is too much.
Keep in mind the entire story line for GoW Ragnarok was 25 hours. That’s insane. No wonder there was so much backlash, and so many players were willing to drop the game if seasonal characters made it onto main game past the drawing board.

@@zorro8027 Look at games like Tarkov. Tarkov has remained relatively the same for the past 8 years, has far less content than The Division 2, still in early access and has literally 50x the daily players and following a wipe, that number doubles. As much as I despise that game, the few weeks following a wipe is more fun and refreshing than late wipe gameplay. That's the same reason why it will work in The Division; people will not be maxed geared and have every exotic and high end item the game has to offer.
Both PvP and PvPvE will have an entirely different feeling and dynamics if the majority of the player base doesn't have a fully or multiple fully maxed out builds.
People complain about having to level back up to 40, but still don't consider what new seasonal elements will be added for players while they grind to level 40 in seasons 2.0 or the endgame re-work. I am willing to wager that leveling to 40 will not consist of the gameplay loop we have now. I am sure there will be unique seasonal missions and activities released each season to keep players engaged while they level up to 40. People are arguing against seasonal wipes with the seasonal model we have now, but aren't considering what other changes will be coming with seasons 2.0
I have been playing on Heroic with 4x directives active for the past 2 years and nothing in the game aside from raids and incursions offer any sense of difficulty or challenge. I am SHD level 9 on a new character and playing on a new character at SHD 9 on normal difficulty offers more challenges than the game does on my maxed out character playing on heroic with 4 active directives. Even playing in DZs in the level 31-39 bracket before reaching level 40 offered a new sense of experienced and gameplay most of us have forgotten existed and haven't experienced in 3-4+ years.
Games like Tarkov is a phenomenal example that illustrates even with bare minimum content, regular player wipes keeps players returning to the game while keeping them engaged with the game. Again, unlike Tarkov, The Division 2 actually has story and would have content for players to grind through following a wipe.

GC. Your opinion is valid but i tend to disagree in some instances. A couple things here. I thank you for not falsely claiming that they are cancelling the Seasonal Characters model. I have already seen 3 other creators make this claim and it's simply not true. I get that it can be irritating that a change in plan "may be" happening but let's be real here...Nobody was asking for seasonal characters especially 5-6 years into the game's life cycle. It was just not the best time to ask the community that has sunk so much time into the game to instantly change the way they play because that's what the devs think we want...especially before DLC content (which i think is just going to be reskinned Div 1 stuff). IMO this is the dry run to the model they want us to play with in Division 3 when it releases. Lastly, I don't think seasonal characters are going to go away at all. I predict that you will still be able to progress the story, play leagues, doing events like golden bullet, etc. with your main. BUT they will lock all new seasonal content via the rewards track behind the seasonal character model (including new exotics). Want the new gear or hot new exotic that is a must have then guess what you need to progress a seasonal character and once acquired you can't use it on your main until that stupid two week window in-between seasons.

Been saying this a lot since they announced the planned seasonal character, if the goal is for you to do the SAME thing that you already did years ago then there's absolutely no point in putting that in there. They can't OFFER a good take for the community to bite down on that new scheme because THERE'S NO NEW CONTENT that can be offered, it's just the same old manhunt, seasonal rewards progression. The take is everyone will be the same level nothing more, you may be optimistic about it but not everyone would want to restart again.

Having a seasonal character is not a change. Its an addition and an addition that wouldve had dire consequences. The Division 2 is a looter/shooter/extraction game. Thats is its identity. It is not an ARPG per say or MMO. Trying to implement an ARPG/MMO style to a game wouldve killed division 2 instantly because lets be real...Seasonal characters have existed in Diablo 3 & 4 and they think that its a good Idea to hang your main character out to dry after 6 years of playing and countless hours putting into the main toon so that you can create seasonal characters that will eventually become pack mules for your main character. Its not OK. No one is going to want to create a seasonal character for the sake of "having an even playing field" when you have no one on said playing field to compete with in the first place. The only time you get anyone to play with you is either in PvP, Time Trials or Bounties. lets be real. Its not even worth going to legendary missions because of the guaranteed exotic cache you get from the weekly run. now when you get that new world difficulty, hopefully the rewards are alot better (i.e. max rolled items guaranteed). all these features about season 2.0 can be implemented with the main character without any penalties at all. Anyone who thinks that this seasonal 2.0 character creating feature is ok. would be the SAME ONES who say that implementing seasonal characters was a bad thing and then say division 2 is dead. Ive said it once and Ill say it again: Seasons 2.0 is a terrible Idea and it would mean the end of Division 2 at the hands of the Developers. "we heard your concerns" lets see if they stand by it. Im guessing they will proceed even though they mentioned it. The minute I hear or read that your main character is not involved with the manhunts or anything related to seasons, I will hang it up and call it the day.

I've lost faith in the Devs again for the umpteenth time over the past 5 years. They broke the game and we had not a single apology or an acknowledgement from the Devs to just announce. We are aware of players currently experiencing problems with no sound on rifles and LMG weapons or no bullets hitting targets. Instead, we had a wall of silence which I despise when people don't take ownership of their errors and bugs that have broken a game. I always own up and take ownership it has become part of my trademark and I am known for being honest and upfront and when I say I will sort it I get the job done. I don't sit on my hands or bury my head in the sand and refuse to take responsibility and this is where the Devs have failed the community yet again.
And now that they have responded the reply is nothing short of an insult to the entire community and I am not happy and I doubt if I am alone. However, as a coder, I also have to look at this from a POV, as a programmer I also know the limitations of a game engine and I know that there is very little room for error and fixing one problem can also cause a completely unrelated problem to occur and I know that sometimes the devs don't mention certain bugs or glitches because they don't want players taking advantage of these bugs and glitches and I appreciate and understand that I know inbound as though I am sticking up for the devs and I am contradicting myself but I am not, I am explaining to those who don't understand game coding and how you can open Pandora’s Box if bugs and glitches with a patch update but the single biggest problem with the devs is they rely heavily on in-house testing too much and then when an update or patch goes live what they tested in-house doesn't work in reality and that has been Unisoft and Massive Entertainment and other developments teams within Ubisoft.
The Achilles heal of Ubisoft at times is their lack of communication with the communities and their clients which is us the gamers the players pay for their products we are their clients and when they bury their heads in the sand and fail to communicate people start to get angry some more than others and they tend to lash out at the devs in frustration and some even take it a bit too far and threaten the devs and only those who have done this know who they are. Don't be that idiot and threaten a dev it's a criminal offence and all you're doing is leaving a digital data breadcrumb back to your console or the keyboard of your device or laptop so don't be that person who does that.

From what I've gathered from community feedback, it seems that many people don't fully understand how the new Season 2.0 works. A lot of the opposition is based on the misconception that they won't be able to use their main character, which isn't true. A clear presentation or a Public Test Server (PTS) from the development team would help clarify how everything functions, allowing the community to make a more informed decision.
Personally, I would be excited to try it out. If it didn't suit my taste, I could still enjoy the manhunt for a few hours each week and then roam around DC with my main character. This would definitely be better than having no new content until the 2025 DLC.
I believe making the seasonal character optional would be a wiser decision. It would ensure that the developers' hard work and passion aren't wasted while giving players the flexibility to choose how they want to experience the game.

Sorry, I dont agree with season 2.0 and I am soo glad that they cancelled the seasonal characters because it wouldve killed Division 2. lets be real. Its bad enough that you have a 5 character limit. If you want to see how seasonal character looks like, look at Diablo 4. My main character sits in the eternal realm while im working on seasonal characters in the seasonal server. once the season is over, they move the seasonal character to the eternal realm. When you swap your character back to the eternal realm, you have to choose what gear you will take with you into the eternal realm. The seasonal items are NOT going to go to the eternal realm so thats a bad thing. You would literally have to change your build and paragon board to compensate for the items and abilities you wont be bringing back to the eternal realm and thats not good at all.
So If you did the same thing with seasonal 2.0, You have a 5 character limit, your stash space only coincides with the current season and not your main character, you are also probably limited on what items to take with you back to the non-seasonal character once the season is over much like diablo 4. What I do want to state that the Division 2 and the Franchise Is nothing like any of the ARPG games that is currently out there like Last Epoc, Diablo 4 and Path of Exile. It makes absolutely 0 sense to turn the Division 2 or try to make Division 2 much like the other ARPG games when the game is a looter/shooter/extraction game. Trying to give Division 2 a new identity wouldve killed the game outright. I dont agree with it and will defend it. those who say that we that made ourselves knows are not giving the game a chance to give new ideas 100% have opinions. but truth be told there is a reason why we spoke out. Why make seasonal characters? please explain that to me. 99% im playing solo so that whole concept of "everyone will have an even playing field" is out the window because you see no one while youre playing and I dont group up with anyone unless its a time trial and that usually entails one additional person. For bounties, Its a ghost town so I see no one and no one ques for bounties even with manhunts active. The developers need to play the game and get a grasp on reality when it comes to "an even playing field" because the field is empty 98% of the time. If it was like Diablo 4 where crossplay is active and youre running around the open world and see other players, then thats a different story and my decision would be different but its not. So Yes, Kudos for eliminating the seasonal characters and just implement the main character for seasons 2.0. Not to mention make the necessary adjustments to compensate not having the seasonal character.

It seems the biggest gripe players have at the moment is content. People want fresh, new content to play; however, as we all should know by now, this takes a considerable amount of time & resources. Both of which have been quite sparse over the past few years or so.
Speaking from experience as a Div 1 alpha tester, I know for a fact that these devs can create quality content which lasts for years. Have there been some misses over the years? Yeah, but the devs gotta shoot their shot.
That’s when feedback becomes crucial - it hinges on the player experience.
Most of the recent disdain feels like misdirected frustration. We haven’t had enough information to provide any sort of major articulated feedback at this point. If anything, some people don’t wanna wait two weeks to progress the seasonal storyline on their main character - that’s a valid point & worth considering.
So did players want seasons 2.0? Not necessarily, but it gives us something fresh while the devs continue creating new content. We’ve been playing the same game for years. Why not give it a shot? Seasons 2.0 could add significant replayability & value towards the franchise we know & love.
To reiterate the point, I believe most of the recent “feedback” is guided by unfounded speculation & exasperated by the knee-jerk reaction of players not getting what they want *right now* (content).
This is the first time the game was delayed by something brought on by ourselves. Despite all this, I applaud the devs for being receptive of community feedback. They take a shitload of flack for literally doing their jobs. They deserve a break, yet still, content is coming.

The thing is this entire issue would’ve been solved if the devs announced seasonal characters would be optional.
For some reason the devs took an all in or all out approach to this situation that had a very easy middle ground to obtain that would t have been hard to accomplish but would’ve pleased both sides of the comm.
There were valid arguments for both sides as well so this middle ground honestly made the most sense; make seasonal chars optional.
(Also it wasn’t wait 2 weeks to then use your char, it was wait the entire season and then the last 2 weeks of the season you can use your char. So unless a season would be a single month, you’d have to wait for more than 2 weeks to use your main char which is absolute garbage for those who put time and effort into things like getting the EB)

Good day sir. I don't normally comment on RUclips videos, especially for Div2 content. I've watched your videos over the last few years and I believe you're important to the Div2 community as a content creator.
I'd just like to share my perspective on a few things. Primarily pertaining to THIS video.

    • @mackc.8849
      @mackc.8849 3 месяца назад

      1. If you rewatch the video, it appears as though you're disappointed with their decision. I believe you may have quantified your "reaction" to the news as a rant based. I'm appreciative that you shared your opinion.
      2. The reaction appeared to be emotion driven as least based on your voice during the later part of the recording.
      3. I know you were excited about the seasonal character scenario based on a livestream or prior video I watched. In the end, you would like something new, something challenging, something exciting, something intriguing. I BELIEVE WE ALL DO.
      4. They never said they were canceling season 6 content or fully changing their plans for the future. Based on the post, it appears as though they are pivoting because of community feedback.
      5. It sounds like you've assumed they are changing course exclusively because of feedback YOU are hearing/seeing from the social media community which I believe is an assumption. It's quite possible they received feedback from community members in multiple ways. That some people may have been surveyed or consulted and there may have been a collective decision to adjust their approach to the future for Div2. Or at least as it pertains to season 6.
      6. I think it was appropriate for them to actually take the feedback and use it to make an executive decision because YOU and other content creators know many things we've seen over the years did NOT appear to be done because of our feedback or a community survey versus their own doing and ideas.
If you're frustrated and disappointed, so am I. Not in their decision to make an adjustment, the fact that we've gotten to this point. Very few times does community feedback lead to actual change. I just want a game I can enjoy, not get bored and not feel like I'm being shafted/wasting my time.
It's quite possible the devs might still deliver something you'll love. But I don't think this pivot means they aren't proud of what they've done so far, more so that maybe they understand they do not want to disappoint/anger the community or let us down as they sometimes have in the past. Cheers GCROCK. A supporter from afar. Keep up the great work!
I think this may have landed differently for you if they had not stated they were making a pivot because of "community feedback".

IF ( a big if) they have the separate servers and infrastructure already done. Recoup a little money for the work done and maybe cater to the veteran and adventurous at the same time.

Season characters was a big hell no for this game, and rightfully so. It wouldn't have brought nothing new to game. You would still be running the same missions getting the same gear and weapons you already have on your main character, and that which is already in the game. Seasonal characters made no sense because there was no new content coming along side those seasonal mule characters we would have gotten, and even if that was the case current team at Massive has been completely fucking up the game to no end, and introducing poor/ shitty gear and weapons of late. Why would I want to do a seasonal track if the content for those seasons are complete shit, and the end rewards is complete shit as well.
The problem is that this seasonal character bs was forced on the player base with no PTS, without no commutation with their player base on if it this was a good idea or not. Which it clearly wasn't for the majority of the player base which actually spoke up, and stood their ground on this matter.

      For many reasons.
For one, once you max out your character, the game offers no further progression, achievement or goals.
Seasonal characters would re-introduce a gameplay loop most of us haven't experienced in over 4 years.
Seasonal characters would bring back value to loot, gear, resources and materials. Finding a rare item or piece of gear has more value a reward to it than it does on our main character.
Seasonal characters would re-ignite the grind most of us haven't had in years.
Seasonal characters would again present a challenge to players since the player base wouldn't be maxed out on gear.
There are plenty of games that have regular character wipes and each time these game wipes, player count significantly increases.
Too many people have this shallow argument about "starting over" but don't put any deeper thought into how playing on a character that isn't geared out of their ass implements a completely new dynamic layer of gameplay.

@@BigChris1735 People literally did not want the SHD watch or expertise system. There was this same blowback with the SHD watch and expertise system when they were first announced.
The SHD watch released 1 year after the game released and released with a DLC, that's no really a great example to complain about wanting new content when the watch literally released with new content.
As much as people complained against the expertise system, that's the only thing in the game that's offered any sense of grind for the past two years. Now that most of us have finished that, there's nothing left to progress. New content and DLC doesn't resolve this because after we complete any new content, we're right back where we are now; nothing left to grind or progress.
People who argue against seasonal wipes have never in their life played a game that has regular character wipes to understand that wipes keeps these games feeling fresh and keeps players engaged.

      @BigChris1735 3 месяца назад

@dylanmelotti4301 I played games that wipe character an sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't fit an too introduce something into a game that has never had it wasn't a good ideal but we all have our own options an I remember when the shd watch was released I've been playing since day 1 it really wasn't as bad as this.

    • @dylanmelotti4301
      @dylanmelotti4301 3 месяца назад

@@BigChris1735 It was pretty bad, but the exertertise backlash was worse than the SHD watch. Either way, the game needs a substation change in mitigating the build ceiling and no matter what that change is, there will have be mechanics that re-introduce a grind.
As the game stands now, there's no goal, room for progression or achievement once players max out their character.
Look at games like Tarkov, Tarkov has remained relatively the same for the past 8 years. As much as I despise that game, the few weeks following a wipe is more fun and refreshing than late wipes. That's the same reason why it will work in The Division; people will not be maxed geared and have every exotic and high end item the game has to offer.
Both PvP and PvPvE will have an entirely different feeling and dynamics if the majority of the player base doesn't have a fully or multiple fully maxed out builds.

Most of these players that were complaining dont even play the game everyday, dont even have all the commendations and use the available content daily. They are hearing the wrong people. You can not make such decision as that without putting in balance how many people want and how many doesnt want. I know a lot of people that wanted this. And this people that wanted this talk to you with no respect, like we had to agree by force, literally. My hopes now are only on DLC 2025. Even if they are now putting the same programed content of seasons 2.0 now playable with your main character. Thats silly, just like the last Hercules manhunt is. They put Kelso there, they didnt change anything, cause they are concerned and occupied on giving what "comunity wants" soon, on seasons 2.0. Thats shame. Shame on everybody that made this happen. I was personally looking forward to seasonal characters. I am finding that the game is very dry again, we haven't had this sort of staleness since the seasonal re runs.
The manhunt is lacklustre. I enjoyed the Kelso manhunt as it was adding to the storyline. This Keener one is probably the worse we have had in recent times. Manhunts are so drawn out with no excitement anymore. The global events are repetitive and while I agree they have made them all more fun, they aren't new.
For over 5 years now we are repeating the same content, same missions, same manhunt structure, and for what?
I would have loved some sort of detailed game play footage or more detailed roadmap / PTS of what they had planned for seasonal characters, to try and appease the negative views before making this decision. I have always said I am not advocating for seasonal characters, but I was excited that it was something different and new and I haven't had that feeling in the division for a while now. 😢

Think this is a bad idea as well. Regardless of what the pitchfork raisers think they know, we don't know everything. The developers were excited about this new change and something great could have happened. Do you remember those exploding bullets from Division 1? We lost those because people whined about it in PVP so everyone lost them. Hopefully they will still be able to achieve whatever their vision was without too much compromise.

That sucks. So the stupid cry babies get their way before we even saw what it was about. So we are going to get another season that is the exact same as every season we've been getting on a dying game. They have never been good at satisfying their player base. Like when all the stupid PVPers would cry about builds, they would go through and Nerf it for everybody, even the PVE players. Like Nomad for example in Division 1. They need to grow a pair, and then stick with what they were going to do. The way that they explained it sounded awesome. There were so many different mission type things that they could add, and do with everybody being on the same playing field. It's funny. I don't see a lot of people complaining about Survival mode in Division 1. That mode you started from scratch every time you played it. Yet it is probably still to this day some of people's favorite mode in any of the Division series. They need to just release Season 2.0. All the dumb cry babies can go play with their stuffies, and pacifiers. Massive sucks.

Then they should focus on the manhunts like we have classified missions. You know how cool that would be? if they worked like classified missions gives lot more options for storytelling too.

Huge disappointment for me, was looking forward to seeing how seasonal characters worked. I’d rather have played it an decided I didn’t like it. It’s also disappointing seeing that they cave to social media outrage that doesn’t speak for the community as a whole.

@@dandreharris636 are you dumb? There opinions do matter. The people that don’t want seasonal characters are the same people that played since the beginning and put thousands of hours of grinding and kept the game alive. Like 90% of the community hated the idea of seasonal characters. Nobody wants to be forced to make a seasonal character just to play the new seasonal content, especially after 6 years of the games launch. People want to play how they want to play. It makes me think you’re the casual who thinks seasonal characters is a good idea. Division is not an ARPG it’s an RPG looter shooter. 🤦‍♂️

Most of the people I've seen who disliked the seasonal characters are long-time veterans who didn't want to grind from level 1 each season just to interact with it. All the devs had to do is make it optional, give extra rewards if you did a seasonal character and go from there.

    Noise?!
Strange description of the majorities opinion...
Calling it "Noise" is devaluing and trying to negate the opinions of, i imagine, a lot of your viewers and subscribers.
If you were in favour of seasonal characters thats great, good for you...
But it was a dreadful idea.
Im glad the devs have communicated with us and listened.
I found that the "attacks" and "hate" you speak about were more vociferous from those IN FAVOUR of seasonal characters.
    I've played since day 1.
The seasonal character bs would mean all my years were wasted to appease aome transient, low attention span, undedicated new players that they hoped to get.
If you want to play stripped back, start from scratch, you already have the dreadful Descent mode.
Anyhoo, you're entitled to your opinion, but you are very wrong on this.
    Good luck Agent 🫡

Add any spin on it what you want, I am devaluing nobody that had an opinion and shared it respectfuly. This is clear.
Noise, the people that don't do this and use social media as a platform to share their opinion like its the only one that mattera and attack anyone that has any other view. This is noise. And if any of my subs/viewers are doing this and fall into this category then I would rather they unsub anyway.
I am not wrong, there are mixed views. This is fact. Since they did the u-turn more and more people have now spoke out about how they would have at least wanted to try this first. I don't know why people just can't have their opinion and accept that others have different which is blatently obvious here just by reading through the comments on this video.
Sounds like you fall under the category of only your opinion matters and there is no other.

@@GCROCK Nope, I welcome everyone's opinion, yes even if it's different to mine.
Yes, I'd have liked to try their plans for Seasons 2.0 out first, but there was no closed test, no PTS, and it wouldn't have been available to the likes of me anyway, as I don't play on PC and I'm not a content creator.
The game is 5 years old.
We keep playing every day because we love the mechanics of the game, and we love developing our character.
The game doesn't need fundamental changes.
It needs new content and bug fixes.
I would say that your opinions in this video show that you only care about what you think and what you want.
      Do a poll or something.
Again, you're entitled to your opinion, and I value it, and enjoy to debate stuff in a friendly manner.
That's the way it should be.
There's no place in this for hate and abuse.
Anyway, I always watch a few videos from people before subscribing to them here on RUclips.
As you have such a low opinion of me and my views, I won't be subscribing.

@simondillon I did a poll. So many asked for this. 60/40 currently in favor of trying and seeing this first and disagree on the u-turn.
I already knew this and my views are based on interacting with thousands of people each with their own opinion.
Again, views are mixed. They say they hear us but they heard the noise and the negative. The positive stay quiet. The positive are now speaking up more after they make this decision and its very clear to see that many wanted more info first and at least to try it first.
