Not to mention that she didn't think at all about the fact that after causing a war she also wanted to drag the United Nations into all this mess that SHE caused.

Studio Mir apparently ran themselves ragged making the first season animation so ridiculous, so they had to scale back a lot for season 2 and brought some other animators in to help. By season 3, they'd found a more comfortable rhythm to work in.
Yeah, a Japanese anime studio worked on the first part of season 2, but they couldn't keep up with the quality, so Studio Mir came back on with a better work flow.

She was going to drag the Republic's military into a needless war without the authorization of the proper chain of command and without any regard for the consequences that would have for the people helping her, like Iroh. He would be getting court martialed at BEST, even if they did win the fight. And that is assuming they wouldn't be up to their necks in dark spirits and get absolutely curb-stomped. She was letting her emotions do the thinking.
The fact that Iroh would just a involve his entire navy fleet into another nation's civil war just cuz his acquaintance asked him to, is hilariously unprofessional of him.

No lie. This the exact episode I checked out on when I was watching it weekly back in the day. The way Korra's actions are portrayed in this season get on my nerves but I also realize that there wouldn't be much of a season without the chain reaction of her decisions. After biting the bullet and finally watching the rest of season 2 and starting season 3 I definitely did kick myself for not toughing it out but Korra's personality and thought process is just so annoying, still kind of is but I love most of the supporting cast.
Mako and Salami's break up was more cordial due to Asami's temperament. Also, Korra was quick to respect General Iroh's situation but not Mako's. Then again, Mako and her were together.
Took info Korra told him because she feared for her family's life and gave it to someone that would use it to stop her from saving her people. I get he was doing his job, but he didn't even tell her. I'm on Korra's side for this one.

This season is so sad because it comes off of ATLA and LoK S1, where ATLA has some near perfect writing, and LoK at the very least had Amon, but then this season hits you with that writing dip, but everyone still holds out hope for Unalaq to have that big, interesting master plan....
I feel for Korra in all this. Let's take into account her sheltered upbringing. This girl was kept from interacting with the world and people just to protect her and hone her skills as the avatar. Obviously protecting her was important and it gave her the space to be a strong fighter. Something Aang didn't get and had to learn on his journey. However, she lacked the social skills needed to integrate herself into society. With that she makes very rash decisions based on her emotions. She has a good heart and wants to do what is right for her family. However its lot on the shoulders of a 17 year old who has never been given the freedom to make her own choices. She has always been told what to do and not given the freedom to make her own choices. And so she is going to make mistakes. She is going to make choices without much proper thought. It's a part of her growing up. From her perspective, nobody gets her, nobody understands her, nobody listens, and she can't seem to do anything right. It's a lonely place to be in and I relate. I hope that over time she learns to understand herself better and can lean into her friends/family. Everyone cares and wants to help her, she is just trying to figure it all out. Poor kid.

I feel for Korra in all this. Let's take into account her sheltered upbringing. This girl was kept from interacting with the world and people just to protect her and hone her skills as the avatar. Obviously protecting her was important and it gave her the space to be a strong fighter. Something Aang didn't get and had to learn on his journey. However, she lacked the social skills needed to integrate herself into society. With that she makes very rash decisions based on her emotions. She has a good heart and wants to do what is right for her family. However its lot on the shoulders of a 17 year old who has never been given the freedom to make her own choices. She has always been told what to do and not given the freedom to make her own choices. And so she is going to make mistakes. She is going to make choices without much proper thought. It's a part of her growing up. From her perspective, nobody gets her, nobody understands her, nobody listens, and she can't seem to do anything right. It's a lonely place to be in and I relate. I hope that over time she learns to understand herself better and can lean into her friends/family. Everyone cares and wants to help her, she is just trying to figure it all out. Poor kid.
