My first steel bike was built in 1961 by Bill Grey who started in the 1930s and was foreman builder for the original Claud Butler. It is an incredible frame with extended lugs, that reflects his lifetime of bike building
fully built up no expense spared, perfect fit, as new, did not take long to find, all for £250 on eBay. Gravel bike geometry, takes massive tyres, so there is nothing new.
Sits in the garage next to a 1970s steel bike that has full first gen dura ace in perfect condition, also £250
I would love a Speedvagen, but for each one of these expensive designer bikes, save an old steel bike, the extra cost is probably no more than one of the extras!
Who knows it might ride surprisingly good and last another 50 years, and not be stolen when you leave it locked up outside

I was riding my bike across USA a couple of years ago and in some small town, I can’t remember where, I saw a car with a fancy bike on top rack and it had a way crazy paint job. It was a Speedvagon. I had never heard of it but it was awesome looking

Sasha has been making big moves!
I sort of knew him years ago as we were couriers in Portland ( I still am)
And we both worked for Western Flash/world courier at different times.

I'd heard of Speedvagen before but not Vanilla when I watched this video when it first came out. Little did I know a few weeks later I'd be talking to Jenn and Sasha in London amongst a display of some of their bikes. Love the bikes! Thanks for the video

The most customized Speedvagens are outrageously expensive ($15k and more if you get every upgrade), but... the OG-1 and OG classics are just as good frame-wise, but a fraction of the price because they aren't custom-sized and don't have all the blingiest components and custom paint. If you can spend a bit extra, follow Jenn's advice and get the custom fit on a simpler build if you know you come in between the stock sizes. It's a good experience.

Wild Outdoor Living check out the coverage from the NAHBS, Vanilla gets plenty of coverage and you’ll get sugar-sick from all the bike pr0n.

Kit X mod with the super light tubing & carbon seat tube! Actually, Jenn just sent me some pictures of my frame post-fabrication. The whole Speedvagen experience is pretty amazing. Great video!

I would love to own a Vanilla but they are just out of my budget. I contacted Jen and she was really happy to ask me what I really wanted out of a bike. She talked to me about what it would take to get that and the cost. Then she gave me ideals on how to best save for it.

No decals on the bikes and being all paint is most assuredly NOT unique to Vanilla or Speedvagen! To claim that is a bit arrogant.
