    The 4 seconds of Superior Drummer was from the Made of Metal EZX.

  • @acerbt

    Since this is just effectively the same hardware that they put inside some of their home keyboards, it's mostly xglight based, even in the drum department. They have the expanded sound set, and it even includes some things that aren't on the home keyboards, but they also don't give you access to every single drum and purcussion sound in the system. There are some sound effects/ metronome sounds, etc that can only be accessed if you play the actual midi patches for the different kits using some midi device that can send the entire note range from lowest to highest. Some examples include the animal sounds and dj sounds presets, and a lot of the electronic kit sounds aren't in the assiginable sound bank as well. There's a completely unused set of metronome sounds in the click drum kit. I can't remember the midi mappings for the patches right now, but the data list for this instrument has all that listed I believe.

    I need to learn how to program Superior drummer from DD - 75. I use this kit live with both bands.

    • @MesaMXR
      @MesaMXR  Год назад

      You will want to make sure that the midi mapping on the drums are reset to default because any changes to it will actually break the hi-hat open/close function, IIRC. You can very easily map all the notes in superior drummer to whatever notes are currently coming out of the Yamaha.

  • @jessejames5081
    @jessejames5081 5 лет назад +2

    How did you program the high hat with the pedal and stuff? I'm using getgood drums, and I got everything programmed except for the high hat. I programmed the high hat closed sound that it naturally makes when you just push the pedal, I programmed the hi-hat pad so it makes the sound of an open hi-hat. When I hit the open highhat pad and then hit the pedal it cuts the open hh off like it should, but I'm not sure how to program it so that when you have your foot down on the pedal and hit the hi-hat pad it makes the closed hi hat sound. I hope you know what I'm talking about LOL! Anyway if you could help me with any advice you got I'd greatly appreciate it. The other question I have is when I hit a pad there's a half a second delay until I hear the sound, but when I record with guitar I don't have any delay issues. Again if you got any ideas man, thanks in advance!

    • @MesaMXR
      @MesaMXR  5 лет назад +2

      Here's the thing, you can't change the MIDI configuration or it will break the hi-hats like you're describing. It's a bug in the MIDI implementation and Yamaha confirmed that they don't care enough to fix it. You'll have to reset your unit back to factory default and use the MIDI mapping as-is, sadly. As far as the delay, what kind of audio interface are you using, if any? To get low latency on Windows you need to use some kind of ASIO-type driver and set the buffers low enough that you're getting

    Hi Aaron!
    Is very nice to see another owner of dd-75! :)
    I got mine for a couple months ago,
    But i've experienced some serious problems with it,
    Maybe you can help me?
    The problem appears when i try to assign a HI-HAT (open/closed/pedal) notes to Ez-drummer's different
    hi-hat sounds (you use Superior Drummer, so im sure you know what im talking about).
    In my case there is absolutely NO WAY to get all THREE types of HI-HAT sounds.
    Only two of them!
    Yes, there ARE 3 default hi-hat sounds in DD-75. But i just CANT reassign em to another midi notes!
    Every time i try to reassign hihat midi notes by turning the wheel, it all
    messes up and wont let me get 3 different (open/closed/pedal) sounds.
    Did u have anything like that?
    Ill be VERY grateful for any advice!
    Thank you beforehand for the answer!! (sorry for double-message this! just for you to notice)

    • @MesaMXR
      @MesaMXR  6 лет назад +1

      Here's the thing. If you try and reamap ANY note in the drumset it'll mess up the hi-hats over MIDI. It's a bug in the MIDI implementation that Yahmaha told me most likely won't get fixed. There was a bug in the old DD-65 where it would transmit the same note over MIDI no matter if your hi-hats were opened or closed. The solution is to leave the MIDI notes completely stock (may need to reset the unit to do that) and make the adjustments to the MIDI notes in the software instead. I can't remember if EZDrummer will even let you change the MIDI notes but if not you'd have to use something else like Superior Drummer. If you have Reaper there's a plugin in there that will let you remap your MIDI notes and that would probably do the trick as well. Let me know if that helps.

    • @brodyaga8121
      @brodyaga8121 6 лет назад

      Hi Aaron! And thank you so much for your reply!
      Well, news seem to be not good for me :(
      First i tried to follow this guy's instructions
      ruclips.net/video/J85OIasLqDI/видео.html ,
      but then i discovered that eDrum MIDImapper
      WONT work on my Mac (i didnt try, but it says its windows-only) :(
      I dunno if there are any Mac-compatible programs similar to edrum MIDImapper,
      im searching at the moment.
      But later then i found THIS thread,
      www.toontrack.com/forum/studio-corner-1/ezdummer-2-key-mapping-issue/
      Guy says "re-mapping MIDI notes in EZdrummer 2 is NOT POSSIBLE. :( :(
      Superior 2 can re-map all drums and their different articulations"
      So it seems like getting Superior Drummer is the only way for me to go. Well, ill do whatever needs to make this damn bugged piece of plastic work properly! >:(
      Only one question left: is it truth? You use Superior with your DD-75, can you confirm that
      it REALLY lets you remap MIDI notes?

    • @MesaMXR
      @MesaMXR  6 лет назад +1

      It ABSOLUTELY lets you re-map drum notes to whatever you want. Before you rush out and buy Superior drummer, maybe you might wanna try using Reaper with EZDrummer and use the included "MIDI Transpose Notes" option. Reaper is only 60 bucks and would be way cheaper than 300 bucks for a Superior Drummer Crossgrade license. We can discuss this more if you message me directly.

    • @MesaMXR
      @MesaMXR  6 лет назад +2

      Carl Magbanua Hi Carl. I've noticed that the hi-hat open and closed notes will only transmit properly if you make no changes to the midi mapping on the drums. None. There is a bug in the midi implementation where if you change anything from the default note mapping it will break the high hats. It's a bug that was carried over from the dd65 and it's only partially fixed here. I reached out to Yamaha and they said that it's not getting fixed unfortunately. So bottom line if you want to use this as a midi controller, you absolutely have to have all the midi notes stock. You may have to do a factory reset to get it back to where it was if you changed anything. Let me know if this helps. Thanks for your comment and have a great day.

    is it posible to use the pads through midi to use them as midi signal (the way i will use a midi keyboard to make a midi instrument beat) llike with logic x. using the internal logic drums

      Absolutely. I use this with my laptop at band practice every week through Superior Drummer with no issues. Should work just as well with Logic's drums

      Was using a Roland KP-8 kick pad for the kick drum but almost any kick pad will work, actually. Yamaha KP65 is another one I have. The high hat pedal is a Yamaha HH65.

      Sorry I forgot to ask if that means I can play the TD-9 pads as well as the DD75 pads (and pedals) at the same time so that I will have the 7 pads on the DD65 and the 4 pads plus cymbals and pedals on the TD-9. AND will I be able to use one kit style on the TD-9 and a different one on the DD65 (especially kit 49 & 50!). Sorry for all the questions - new to drumming.
