When I was a child I truly didn't care about brushing my teeth. I had cavities and pain, but eventually those teeth fell out as they should. That's when I started to care for my teeth. A fresh start. I am now 25, and even though I have a near perfect dental hygiene (I am aware of what I eat and drink, brush 2 times a day and floss, the only thing I sometimes skip is dental elixir), I have early stage periodontal desease and had to treat two small cavities (the first ever since loosing my baby teeth and without going to the dentist for nearly 3 years due to Covid). Me and my dentist found out that my medication for endometriosis leaves me more vulnerable to periodontal desease and the stress I endured during the last two years only worsened it. Sometimes it's not only the lack of hygiene that will damage your teeth and gums, there are other factors. So always take a closer look at all the variables.

I just got my $6000 braces off a couple weeks ago (I’m 22 and I never wanted anything more than I wanted to get braces) and there’s no way I would throw that away by being lazy! I’ve become a tooth care fiend because I worked so hard for my smile (and took really good care of my teeth when my braces were on too) and I’m proud of it. People who don’t take care of their teeth either didn’t have to pay for braces themselves or just overall don’t care how they look. I would never be able to get braces again due to the expense so I’m very proactive about making them worth my money!
Being a new dental assistant has opened my eyes to taking better care of my teeth. Also it makes me stupidly happy to know everything in this video lol

I used to never brush my teeth but ever since that one dentist checkup. It started to change. It turned out that I had holes in my teeth and that I'd need a filling. That filling didn't last long though since my tooth started to ache and I repeatedly went back to the dentist to relieve this pain They did many fillings and I took tons of medicine but one time they did a root canal and that helped alongside a filling as well. I started to drink plenty of water and eat less sugary food now.
I actually used to have gingivitis because I wasn’t brushing my teeth good enough but I started brushing them better and it’s not as bad as it used to be and I never got to the fighting stage (when the fighter cells are fighting strep and his friends.)

When I was really young, I didn’t brush my teeth for months but I brush almost three times a day so I’m extra clean from that mistake of being lazy lol
Brushing your teeth won't do it alone. Even flossing and rinsing along with brushing won't prevent gum disease. Getting your teeth professionally cleaned by an oral hygienist every 6 months, along with flossing, brushing and rinsing will prevent gum diease. Oral hygienist can do what an avg person can't do and that's clean below the gum line, which is why it's essential to get your teeth professionally cleaned.
My parents never taught me to brush my teeth as a kid so I didnt. Between age 8-16 i probably only brushed them a few times and never went to the dentist. I had like 20 cavities that i had to fill, and my teeth are kinda crooked now, but I'm lucky nothing this bad happened

That's a lot of worst case scenario, dental fearmongering. They didn't at all mention the many more practical ways to prevent tooth decay, like drinking water after eating or especially after sugary drinks, & even washing your mouth with water (safe to swallow too). Or how about the proper way to drink sugary drinks by curving your tongue and squeezing your cheeks in to let liquid slide down your throat and without flooding your mouth or especially sloshing it around. This decreases the amount of contact & therefore helps prevent the problem too. Then there's the proper way to eat sugars where it's also minimal contact with your mouth instead of coating your teeth with it as you eat. Bad toothpaste ad, scaring kids into thinking brushing teeth is a cure all and the make or break issue. Sure it helps, but it's by far not the only way to help and doing it doesn't instantly override other mouth related bad practices.
That's a really good point. I'd never give anyone the impression that they shouldn't be diligent with brushing, but brushing alone isn't always enough. Especially if you brush right after eating acidic foods.
👏 I’ve switched to candy that just melts without needing to be chewed (like chocolate) and also rinse/soak with water after every meal or snack. And my dental/endodontic team has confirmed this is working well ☺️

As a kid (5-8) I only brushed my teeth a few times a year. It felt so hard for me. I'd have a cavity every dentist visit and I'd lie to them saying I brushed my teeth every other day... Lol. They knew I was lying. Unfortunately I still struggle with brushing my teeth due to depression. It's hard to keep up with hygiene when you can't even get yourself out of bed every morning. I'm trying to go for once every other day to once a day, which is a huge step from where I used to be. As I'm trying to get better with my mental health I'm also going to be trying to work on my physical health too. At least for now. It could get worse again. Episodes are not fun

I never brushed my teeth when I was small. How did I survive?

Same, and yet I didn't get any cavities, unlike my sister (who brushed her teeth more than me)
I do occasionally brush my teeth, and when I do, it’s a long and hard brush.
You have bad breath
For 3 years i stopped brushing my teeth when i was about 10. I thought nothing would happen since i never had dental problems till then. Well, it changed and now i have 4 cavities. Thank god it isnt more. Now I'm brushing my teeth touroughly 3 times a day to prevent my teeth form decomposing. Now they are fine but i wish i had never been such an idiot when i was 10.

Maybe I should brush 2 times a day instead of once after dinner 🤔
I brush after every meal
and before every meal
@@sunnysunflower383 I heard that's bad, I heard you're best at twice a day
@@masonfrank931 oh, thanks, i just have bad anxiety because my aunt died from gum cancer
@@sunnysunflower383 I understand bro, you have this layer over your teeth, what it does is to keep your teeth white and if you wipe it off from brushing too hard or over brushing (like 5 times a day) then your teeth will get bad. If you brush for under a minute I guess you should be fine (that's just a guess) but try twice a day for 2 minutes, set a timer on your phone; it will help alot. It could be 3 times, I forgot. I brush once a day though lol. I try to brush twice a day but I always forget
I remember seeing a RUclips poll about how many times people brush their teeth and I was surprised by some of the comments
Thank you! I showed my 4 yo because she hates to brush her teeth. She ran to the bathroom and brushed! I am finding all the videos I can to teach her. THANK YOU!
My grandpa never brushed his teeth.
He had some teeth missing but he never freaked out.
Because old people are always tired.
Same with my dad he now lost all his teeth
That's on good genes and LUCK
@@quentinreusens3208 same for my ancestors, they are meat and fruits predominantly and, through natural selection, they lived since back in their day, salt water and your finger were the toothpaste and brush of the day
I haven't brushed my teeth for 16 years. I only lost a couple.
Thank you for showing me all the reasons why brushing my teeth is so important!

I havent brushed my teeth in over 5 years. I eat mostly meat and eggs diet and drink only water. No problems, in fact my teeth have improved. No plaque, no more gum inflammation. Breath doesnt smell. Prior to diet switch I have constant plaque build up and gum bleeding.
Because your not eating carbohydrates or food with sugar which cause plaque and gum disease
Same man I knew I wasn’t the only one who seen benefits from not brushing your teeth. I haven’t brushed mine in about a year and really don’t see the reason to🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

Well i Belive it beacuse i did not clean my teeth for 4 years
Brushing your teeth won't do it alone.
What if you don’t have teeth?
You brush your gums ahaahahhahah
Cody NvidiaGeforce and brush your tongue too, more importantly.
Tongue contains the bulk of these bacteria. Only 25% are in the teeth actually so its more important to brush it.
Ha keep
My parents never taught me to brush my teeth as a kid so I didnt. Between age 8-16 i probably only brushed them a few times and never went to the dentist. I had like 20 cavities that i had to fill, and my teeth are kinda crooked now, but I'm lucky nothing this bad happened
I thought if you did not. Brush your teeth your Breath would STANK And your teeth would slowly rot away my. Whole life I’ve been eating and drinking the most sugary things. Even knowing I brush my teeth every day I feel like I should not eat or drink anything with sugar in it. After this video
Thank you so much. I’m convinced enough to brush my teeth now. I used to brush my teeth only once in two days.
in the future i might only do it once in 3-7 days fyi

And my dental/endodontic team has confirmed this is working well ☺️
My parents never told me to brush my teeths when i was young so i grow up without brushing when I entred highschool I discovred the importance of brushing your teeths so guess...it was too late I had cavities in all my teeths and that hurts you know , I'm now in the university and i am suffering and it hurts , I am no long laughing I'm just depressed , I just want to smile again and eating and living my life without my teeths hurting me , no one deserves this..

So I’ve gone 7 years with out brushing my teeth and my teeth have less cavities then most people who do brush. Told this to a dentist and he was confused especially since i still have a “baby tooth” at the age of 15.

I didnt brush my teeth much up until recently where i was told i was about to get braces so i brush my teeth alot now like i cant even go along my day without brushing my teeth because if i dont then you guys know that feeling when you first wake up how your mouth feels all gross, When i brush my teeth thats the best feeling ever having that gross feeling in ur mouth just go away
According to many experts, Strep bacteria cannot be removed completely by brushing. All that is accomplished by brushing is to spread the strep around and maybe even get it into places where it wouldn't normally go. The strep bacteria needs to be dealt with. Brushing won't do it.
This is a great toothpaste ad

Broo honestly same. I would only use mouth wash to keep is a lil clean. I’m thinking about brushing daily too.
This helped me encourage my son to brush his teeth.
I'm just glad I listened to my father and dentist long ago.
All the best
