I'm no stranger to mind-altering substances, but this song tops them all. Just about the only song you can get high from, by just listening to it. Absolute hypnotic bliss. It still sounds as if it's from 100 years into the future. I don't think anything will ever outshine this.
Heard this sampled in a song a few years back listening to the radio whilst driving and it became my earworm. I would appear in my head at various times and it always annoyed me that I didn't know who it was. One day I saw a program about Roxy Music and Brian Eno. Thanks to Wikipedia searching under Eno I found Harmonia and the song I heard it on was by Engineers. Thank god for the Internet
man i love this video. Thank you, i can feel the dream. it is very relaxing, and the music have a contrast with the images, and the reverse of it, is like waking up, or remembering.....
I am so in agreement with all the people who love this, it is an amazing experience, they must have been incredible live. I don't know if they ever made to Oz?
1974. All super old analog equipment and a lot of tape manipulation. They used 3 stereo tape recorders (REVOX A77 afaik), an Elka "Drummer One" and a Farfasia Organ, also some sort of analog synthi, don't have any details though. A Piano and Guitars of course - although it does not sound like that. The Elka "Drummer One" was sent through a TMR Tremulator (Michael Rother mentioned that on some recent interview here on YT) and some other guitar pedals.
@@mixchief Just listen to “Hallogallo” by Neu! (main example of motorik rhythm from krautrock) and “Ghost of Frankenstein” by Scientist (example of steppers rhythm from reggae). Formula for both rhythms is k k k+s k (4 equally distant kick drum hits with a snare hit on the third one), but typical steppers is 2x slower than typical motorik. Harmonia used motorik rhythm in many tracks because one of musicians is from Neu!, but in this track the rhythm is slowed down so much that it reminds of steppers rhythm more (although this is probably a coincidence).
@@garx0 Thank's for the info sir. Wasn't even aware of the "motorik" term, or "Apache beat" as Dinger apparently called it :-) Yep, similarities for sure. Kinda like the polar opposite of afrobeat à la Tony Allen, I guess. But it has the same psychedelic impact, at least on me. To toss in something that appeals exactly the same to me on a psychedelic level, I gotta mention the rai beat. Here's a beat (even tho slightly faster than common rai) that gets me going nuts. Almost like the polar opposite of kraut, yet similar repetitive concept. Here's Baghdad Mimouni & Troupe: ruclips.net/video/ygLIrBpkWkA/видео.html (If you're into rai, also check Cheikha Rimitti and Cheikha Djania).
Found this from John Was Trying to Contact Aliens, an absolutely beautiful little film.. And this music is stunning. Love💜
This is the soundtrack to the future.
lmao

Wow! This song was made back in the 70s?! When I first heard this song on Spotify, I thought, "NICE!" What a weird yet totally awesome tune!😊
Indeed hard to believe.

i've discovered part of the same footage in the video on youtube "programma 101 - memory of future" at 1:47
Awesome song, I think Boards of Canada must have been influenced by Harmonia or Cluster, but this video is mental (in a good way).
Cluster with guitar.great.eno like.
Cluster with Guitar from NEU! And Eno was a big fan.
Has anyone seen 'John Was Trying to Contact Aliens'? Also, this video was originally created by the great Suburban Batherson

the beat here is 2x slower than motorik, so you can tell it is the steppers beat from reggae :p
motorik? steppers? curious, elaborate?
