- WTF DOES “OG KPOP STAN" EVEN MEAN?! Supposedly "original gangster”, can be seen as “old generation", personally viewed as “old-school”.🤓
I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since.
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis and seizures; I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with the genre. Luckily, I'm in remission now! Doesn't mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups of I don't take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as "normally" as possible.
When I made this RUclips name, I was thinking from my graphic-design-major perspective of a brand that will not only describe what my content will be about but will also align with the times, and y’all know that “Kpop stans” have been a thang for awhile now so hence the cringe-worthy title, OG KPOP STAN. (My love for Eminem is also relevant.😂) ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛 Sooo I am currently and actively keeping a weather eye on the KPOP horizon!

someone said it wasn't 100% synched and i'm like this is NOT what this choreo is about at all. it's empowering, feeling the vibe aka musicality, being IN IT and every single one of them transports that 100% and make it look so effortless it's insane. THEY are insane. So underrated and I'm so so so so glad you found them and fell hard bc once they are on your radar there's literally no return.

I hate that people think that they have to be like the same person, same moves... They are unique, they show who they are, in music and style, their moves. And that's why I really love them, they are THE BEST
I was talking with a friend the other day and we discussed how Jooheon might (in our minds) be the overall most talented male idol right now. Arguably the best rapper, incredible singing voice, amazing dancer, and overflowing with stage presence and charisma. I often feel like there's a member in groups that kind of personally embody what that group is (like Nayeon in Twice), and I feel like Jooheon is the embodiment of Monsta X.
What a great comment and so true imho. It’s a shame that Jooheon (and Monsta X in general) is so often underrated. When you think about the group it’s Jooheon’s rapping and vocals that stand out, even though they are all amazing artists. As you said though, he is the embodiment of Monsta X and as such his level is definitely ‘A.’

This is so true. Jooheon is a beast at everything including writing music. I can't think of any other male idol on his level.
For me it's Shownu, Jooheon and Kihyun. The three mains of Monsta X. 🔥 Hyungwon, Minhyuk, Wonho and I.M is what makes them more interesting and has idol like appearances. Overall they are a whole package group. 🖤

I love the feel of this one. It's not that it's unusual for them, but this one seems to be like, the gritty version of the gentlemen that are Monsta X. I feel like I.M is an underrated dancer simply because he looks like he's not working at it. I saw one of the fancams of him for Gambler, and he was like, "doin the thing" like he brushes his teeth in that swag mode every day. Casually hitting hard, effortlessly executing the same moves with a different feel. And I still keep an eye out on Kihyun in all these because he's usually doing the same moves while hitting the hard musical notes without dying for lack of oxygen or panting through the lines. Just love them all.

Changkyun just dances so intensely but with a certain amount of restraint and subtlety, it’s so interesting to see. And I have nothing but admiration for Kihyun belting vocals while dancing so hard. Same goes for Jooheon actually, he raps his (usually fast) parts so well even while dancing.
Beastmode is one of my fav too!! The song and the choreo is out of this world🔥. Babe, you should watch Beastmode in live performance, pleaseeeee... with the choreo & hot outfit, we all gonna go to heaven trust me 🔥🌟😂
Monsta X is so cool! One of my favorite things about MX is that each member has a different voice and a different identity. I can easily distinguish their voices and the way they move. So individual! I think that makes a really cool dynamic for a group.

Yay Beastmode! Enjoyed your reaction as always. I have watched that dance practice so many times and every time I do I notice another detail. If you want to see Shownu vibrate his chest appx 13 times in 1.5 seconds I suggest Shootout. Also Alligator (they have a water performance for that- actually they have multiple water performances, it's become a signature), Jealousy and Beautiful.

I remember watching their earlier dance practices and thinking that IM has a "jumpy" and carefree style of dancing which contrasts to the overall MX style of controlled dancing, but watching your reaction made me realize that he became the slickiest dancer in MX.
