I didn't start out wanting to play Banjo Scruggs style or Bluegrass style. From the very start my goal was to play like Pete Seeger. I can play the other styles now years later but playing Banjo like Pete Seeger is still where my heart is at! He made playing so enjoyable. He was a community minded player. By that I mean he wanted you to join in with him, even if all you knew how to do was hum. Humming is essential he'd say. He's still my inspiration and has my heart!
His was my first banjo book back in 1970. Recently bought another and I m reading it page by page. Savior ever word. I was kid back then but I learned my first song on the banjo from that book. Didn’t even know what the song should sound like. Now I m back to learning it again.
Pete passed away some years ago. I am old enough to remember the movement to stop the war in Vietnam as well as the toll it took. I turned 18 shortly after the draft ended. I still had to go sign up for it though. I had several friends and family members who went none of whom were even the same after returning. Pete, I wish you were still here with us today with all your friends. You really made a difference. R.I.P
Thank you for sharing this video. I found a copy of his book 📖 in a box of music books 📚 that I bought for $15.00. Getting a longneck banjo soon. Paying on it now. Thanks 😊
Getting into Homespun is like trying to get into Fort Knox. And forget talking to a human on their customer service number. All I want is a damned DVD!
We have someone who personally answers the phone during our business hours (8 AM - 4 PM Eastern) every day. You can also leave messages at off-hours, or send an email to info@homespun.com We ALWAYS respond. On the other hand, we haven't had physical DVDs for a couple of years now. Our instant streaming or downloading of our many hundreds of lessons will more than do the trick.

I learned to play Banjo Pete Seeger Style as my introduction to the instrument. He always was an inspiration to me.
I don't even have a banjo, but I'm just here for the great music 👍
Brilliant good old Pete

Wow! Exactly what I was looking for, but much better.
Like your videos I'm just learning 👍👍🇬🇧
I don't believe I've ever seen him without a capo. Does it really need to be that long?

Where can one find the full video of this masterpiece!
Hi all - has anyone purchased the full Dollar 25 lesson? , would it be any use to a complete beginner? Thanks
definitely of use to a beginner. Pete's picking style may sound intimidating but it's quite fun and simple!
