I instantly thought of Scotland Yard as well. Loved that game. I suppose there's a little hint of Master Labyrinth in there too - another fun Ravensburger game. This seems like a cool channel and it makes me sad too, because it reminds me of a time before the crushing dominance of video games of that unique communal experience each Christmas time after first opening a new board game.
Looks like a great gateway game... I can see many of my non-gamers liking this game... Who would have thought Nuns would make a good theme for a game??
i picked up this game recently and got given a promotional expansion pack. "the monk" hes deaf so he doesnt roll for noise. and doesnt capture novices. but still reveals novices when he see them.
I didn't really want one but I bought a copy anyway to get shipping for all my games. I didn't care for Scotland Yard. Perhaps I will resell it since it may be out of print for now.
Played this. Good game. It was fun when I was hiding and although the Abbess player knew where I was, I made no noise and the Abbess had to go along their route. LOL
1 - I thought this was the movie review. 2 - I thought the board game was based off the movie. I'm just disappointed in every way possible. The tie is cool thou.
Looks interesting. But how do players control who is really going where? As i understand "runners" right down their moves secretly and "hunters" can only see this in the end? So there is a chance of cheating? I know that some games refer to players' conscience, but that's just don't seems like good mechanics for me :)
wroot If you are playing games with people who cheat in boardgames about finding girls running around a convent, the problem is not the game. The problem is you need to find new friends.
That was always fun until you made a misstep and fell through the roof of the church into the lobby while all the adults were discussing how well behaved you were. Ahh, memories. :P
Looks very nice but sadly it utilizes one of my no-go mechanics in board games: writing stuff down. I can´t help it, I just can´t stand that. Other than that, it looks like a decent game.
When playing this game I couldn't help but think that it's strongly flawed in many ways in terms of logic and mechanics. As a whole winning as the nuns seems nearly impossible or has never happened in our plays.
Sorry, but its not a fun game at all. This was the first game I bought after getting into board games (via Catan of course) years ago and by the name alone it sounded like a blast. Several attempts later its on my "how do I get rid of this?" list...which only has one game on it. Afterward I've purchased: Gangsters, Dominion, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Copper Country (yet to arrive), a few decks worth of Magic the Gathering and Betrayal at House on the Hill. All of these games are enjoyed by myself and others, but when it comes to NOTR, everyone just kind of gets bored and frustrated. If we want to feel suspense we play Betrayal.
Jerry Schippa hm, I have some games I want to get trade or sell off as well & haven't seemed to have been able to. This game seems like it could be fun to me, but I can understand how sometimes one doesn't like a game as much as they thought they would after playing it. I might consider a trade.

Mark Grace Everyone who is sick to death of the same boring themes over and over and over.
Such a great game. It's become a thanksgiving tradition for us!

Great review!
AlanKey86 this review was 8 years ago she probably has kids now or is a teenager or if this was her kids they are teenagers
Loved the movie, didn't realize it inspired this board game!

Like most hidden movement games, it is based on the honor system
Is this good for 2 players?
LOL, Laudanam for curing Spiritual imbalance :P

when they catch you, you must hold out your hands and receive a lashing for your sins
So THAT'S what the stick is for! 😂 😂 😂

What were you thinking?
Do you have a BoardGameGeek account (user name)? I could then possibly contact you about that.
