Did this yesterday on my R32. Great vid and helped me a lot. Agree with everyone on those clips! Just keep teasing them out and don't be tempted to force them. Thanks!
Flat head spanner helps ease the plastic case that holds the bulbs out, more pressure that way but careful not to snap the plastic fins that holds it in place. A 13mm ring spanner will also get the nuts off
Hi guys! Just watched because want to see if my car should have any seal Around the light unit. I have a problem with left one. After washed car day after inside the light was about half inch of water. Again… and I haven’t clue which way going through. I put some silicone around the outer shell and unit him self and still this happen. Have you guys any idea what could happen? Greetings Tom
@@ZakiGarage well, they are just couple months old. First was wet after week, so company sent replacement and this happen again and again. Actually in mk5 I should have any rubber seal around tail lights and/or boot doors? Because it’s nothing there . It’s just really strange. I looked and no cracks. Water shouldn’t go under and through that black block which holding all bulbs so I don’t know. Btw thanks for answer.
@@tenzin044 I don't see any rubber seal on the unit. The one on this car is still the original one in the video. Sounds like you have a bad brand, you might need to buy it from a different maker. May I ask what brand the unit you got?
@@ZakiGarage DEPO it’s called. Think is I don’t mind what brand but they are sealed now around. And water still going in so I try find the way where. What by do you mean this car still have original rubber seal? I pause your film and actually can see grey rubber on the side if I’m right. It is anything g there? Because I have none.
@@tenzin044 I meant what you see in the video is the original light housing. I asked about the brand coz sometimes aftermarket parts come bad or not working new, I had some bad experiences with aftermarket brands so I try to buy more OEM brands now and avoid aftermarket.
Best close up instructions out of all RUclips videos. I managed to replace my left brake light easily, with right tools. Thanks lads.
Cool, I was reading the owners manual and they are insistent of taking it to the dealership. Thank you for helping me avoiding the Stealership
Very sad how new owner manuals don't show simple fixes and want you to go to the dealership

Guessing the housing or unit is cracked somewhere, you might need a whole housing unit. 🤷♂️

1:18 I broke one of those 3 things :(
Horrible design.
Me too, I did on the most little one. Well, that plastic has at least 16 years, on my 2007 car, now on 2023
I don’t get why they made it so unnecessary harder smh
