Every song these dudes have released so far have been killer. I luv that they are not trying to be another Ill Nino. They sound like a new original hard rock and metal band and I love it. I look up to both of these guitarists 🤘👍The melodic elements mixed with the heavy, this stuff right here is an example of why Rock should be on the radio and popular. Bands like Lions At The Gate, Sevendust, Nonpoint, newbie generation badass band Cane Hill, all should always be blowing up in popularity. I’m a fan of old skool hip-hop but how todays mumble rap about taking drugs etc, why that stuff is popular and gets mainstream play over incredible stuff like this just blows my mind. I still remember the late 80’s and 90’s being a little kid and hearing on mainstream pop radio Van Halen (Van Hagar) with songs for example like Love Walks In etc etc and thinking WOW how songs like these LATG tracks are not on regular rock/pop radio gaining mainstream popularity just blows my mind. Maybe they are gaining popularity there but I think you all know what I mean. I’m not talking popular as within our world, what all of us Metalheads think and stations like Octane, Liquid Metal, etc but talking mainstream top 40 stuff. Sure play your Pop stuff, but a Lions At The Gate jam like this song or Bed of Nails, even Not Even Human, could all easily be thrown in a mix with other popular Pop and Hip-Hop music. Some would argue EW we don’t want that, they need to be just METAL always! 🤘. I hear ya, all I am pointing out is the fact this music is really good and can easily be thrown in with what others consider to be popular music. Aggressive and melodic guitar and bass playing to incredible drums and with Christians outstanding vocals, that is what should sell it. Christians mixture of aggressive gutturals and then his clean singing absolutely perfect mix in my opinion. Speaking of Christian, as I was jamming the badass latest Soulfly single Filth Upon Filth, it put me in a mood to throw on a mix of Soulfly albums (considering I own all) and the song Christian did with the band on Soulfly 3 called ‘One’ was the first song that came on ha! 🤘 Song is still great. I get tired of reading stuff on fans wanting LATG to sound more like Ill Nino and the Latin themed stuff, flamenco guitar playing etc. Well first off Ill Nino is still around and now that they have back one of my other guitar hero’s Marc Rizzo, I’m sure fans will get plenty of that, especially with Rizzo’s awesome acoustic flamenco playing, and so if you as a fan want that, go listen to their music. Lions At The Gate are their own band and every musician in the band is an American first and foremost. Sure just because most of the members are of Latin descent doesn’t mean they have to incorporate Latin themed stuff in their music. I never understood that especially when there are so many Hispanic American musicians in the world of hard rock and metal and you don’t hear people screaming at all of them to have Latin themed elements in their bands music. Just because most these guys in LATG use to be in Ill Nino doesn’t mean they have to continue playing that stuff. I am so happy they are not doing that and trying to re-create yet another Ill Nino. Again if you want that then go listen to Ill Nino, don’t gripe and complain to the musicians in Lions At The Gate on how they should be doing that stuff. THEY should be doing whatever the hell they want to be doing and thus far with the 4 songs we have received, I approve a trillion percent of what they are doing ha! 👍🤘 These songs they have written are all such damn good songs. Really good written songs, great hooks, great heavy hard rock and metal, great everything period. I check all the time to see if they gave us another new single yet, but the one with Jinjer’s vocalist is still most recent. Ready for another new jam, though I have those 4 LATG songs in an overall mix usually whenever I have music going and so those songs are still getting constant rotation and what’s great about them is that they don’t get old. 👍
