he said this was their last song. after a 45min - hour long set, especially when touring and playing shows everyday, its nearly impossible to sustain a good technique. he's obviously exhausted. and the diaphragm muscle becomes weakened after overuse with no rest. doing deathcore vocals everyday and playing rowdy shows takes its toll if theres no time for the muscles to regain their strength, much like working out intensely and constantly.
I've seen many metal bands with vocalist that scream. They sound just fine at the end of the tour unless they're sick lol. Theres many videos of this guy sounding like marge simpson lol

I know what you mean. When my friends and i scream along with music my throat hurts after a good 15 minutes. Continuing is just torture on your throat, the pain, the breathing afterwords which feels like inhaling while chewing dentine ice. I feel bad for them. If i was able to id be like "ok alex, lets take a 20 minute break, go drink some milk or something."

alex by far has the best highs in DC... so effortless for him. if he could only perfect his lows and keep them consistent like ricky hoover from suffokate (who recently left), or Phil Boezman from Whitechapel... he'd be the best singer alive

I met him this year at the warped tour and he was really stoned so i think the correct answer is that he's stoned as fuck not drunk
i've seen them live too, last year he sucked so much butt.
this year he got a lot better than he did from last year, the last week of march of this year his screams were HORRIBLE.
Than when the sick tour ended and CG started performing at warped, his screams got better again :P

Yeah, he inhaled on Desolation. occasionally. For example, in the beginning of Sonnet of The Wretched, thats an inhale. You can even hear it.

Alex stopped using inhales after the first album, occasionally using them in desolation of eden. And he never inhales his highs, they've always been exhaled.

Alex's highs sounded like left 4 dead 2.....but i get the feel , screaming for that long makes you tired, if u go to a concert dont expect studio quality

i dont know whats happening.I observed that in many live concerts.He might not have the vocals yet.....or I suppose ,cuz of the lack of technique,he gets tired very fast

If you have good tecnique screaming you will never tire your voice, i rarely tire my voice.. and if i do its because i was screaming wrong, most vocalists this day just wanna scream as hard as they can and do whatever but you cant... you have to have tecnique!

@SchizoManatee Actually, this kind of vocalization damages your vocal chords in the long run. You know how when you first start screaming (if you ever have, that is), and your throat hurts like shit after awhile? That's because you're doing something to your voice that it shouldn't be doing.

@SchizoManatee Sustaining notes IS hard, yes, but it ALSO causes straining on your voice, just as screaming. I sing AND scream, and have been doing so for years, with training. I'm not saying that you're not going to be able to talk at all when you're 50 or so if you're a screamer, but screaming is way harder and dangerous than singing.

@Sycotic7Syanide Singing hurts if you just start out, too. Seriously, sustaining strong notes without practice is hard. My voice never hurts and I have decent vibrato and clarity when I sing. Your logic is flawed.
