Band on feet side step Band on feet, 90 degree knee raise hold for 3s Band just above ankle, heel tap front of foot, toe tap behind foot Band just above ankle, kick backs hold for 1-2s Light A skip (knee up) B skip (knee up then foot forward) C skip (knee up front, knee up sideways) "Jump rope" big toe focus Leg swing forward and leg swing sideways Calf raises (!?)
Hellah, this routine saved me for real. I've been dealing with weakness in the glutes and hip imbalances after my last half and running never felt the same after a few injuries; I felt like I was plateauing. Using bands to activate my glutes made a world of a difference as well as the skipping and leg swings. I just recently increased my pace by a whole lot!!!
Perfect timing! I’m recovering from a late season injury and looking to build my strength and conditioning and this is awesome for warm ups! Thanks for sharing, Hellah!
Last year I ran 182 days out of the year averaged 5 mile runs. This year I’m aiming for 365. At least 1 mile a day. But want to keep that 5 mile average.
I think I’ll do all the skipping and jumping exercises on my rebounder to decrease the pounding since my knees are still pretty sensitive. Plus,it will add balance/proprioception and foot strengthening to the exercise. I’ve been marching and starting to run on it to rehab before being able to run on treadmill or hard ground. You’re the best and hope to meet you someday!
Hey Hella. Thanks for the pre run routine. Now, hopefully u can put up your post run routine. Might be beneficial since it helps u recover fast & keep the streak going. Thank you.
Hi Hella, I'm new to the channel, but I've already learned some useful things from you! I'm a veteran runner, for about 18 years.. Thank you for your wonderful work
Thanks Hellah! I’m rehabbing from a fractured tibial plateau and need to get back to running to show my dogs. Love your videos and wish I had the knees to do your ultras!
Amazing video exactly what I was looking for. Been doing some stretches before my runs but was really looking for a good pre run workout, this is perfect for me. I ordered those resistance bands the second I finished the video. Keep up the great work hella
PSA: My Pro-Tec resistance band snapped while doing these lateral side-steps. So just a warning that some bands may not last long if stepped on, even indoors with clean shoes. I'll now do them with the band around my ankles and move to the carpet for the knee raises. BTW, love this video and the enthusiasm! Thanks! 🙏
Based on the latest research, the correct protocol for hip flexor activation should be; 30 sec hold with light band, no shaking, followed by 2 min rest x 3-4 reps
Nice video. Been increasing my mileage steadily over the last year. Ashamed to say I do neglect warmups most times. Gonna take this advice and pick up resistance bands today lol.
Any recommendations for c skip on non dominant leg ? I’ll practice this movement every day until my non dominant moves equally fluid like my dominant but anything and everything else would be appreciated thank you 🙏

All the best!

My pre run routine has always been just lacing my shoes up, but 2023 will be different
You were the person who inspired me to run and push myself,
You also being a fellow vegan is a plus!!

I never warm up… but I think it’s a great idea! (After 25 years of running though, I’m probably not going to start anytime soon, lol)
New to the channel Hella, this has become my new pre-run routine and helps so much! Thank you!
