When I played UA it was nearly always guard, dug in like ticks with plenty of guns at their backs. Whatever faction I was against, whether I won or lost we killed hundreds or thousands more of the enemy than we lost thanks to the hammer of the emperor that falls from the heavens. His blessed heavy artillery!
Nah it's just skirmish. Or was when I played it.
You technically can do the campaign but it's just the base Soulstorm campaign, without any changes to accommodate the mod, so expect very unbalanced missions. It's also in very, very early beta so sometimes in things like cutscenes the game can freeze or fail to save progress.
Amazing gameplay landshark, when i last played UA i recalled loving to play tyranids because of the sheer strength of their tunnels. Tyranids can get massive amounts of ravagers out and from there if you go cooldown to cooldown you can have eldar levels of map supremecy through tunnels placed in the far corners of the map, or just hidden in debris
UA is much more in-depth and precisely balanced, with far more efficient skirmish AI which will kick your ass on anything higher than easy difficulty. Titans rarely show up unless a game lasts much longer than 30 or so minutes, so you won't have to worry about them that much in a simple 1v1 game. The individual factions have much greater depth though there is less variety, with only some races getting subfactions like legion of the damned for SM or the various doctrines for IG.
Unification by comparison is much more similar to base Soulstorm, with minor balance changes and a whole bunch of new races with comparatively lesser depth per faction, lots of reused assets and non-canon additions to pad out their rosters but personally, it feels less like unique playstyles and more just cosmetic differences.
I can see Zoastrian mostly spending his time reading the tooltips.

nice forward base tactic from the guard there….if lost the mid ground n let them dam tyranids build up, there usually aint no turnin back that tide…
IG tanks are really poweful in this mod, the only problem is that it's a bit dead, i can't find games .

13:00 Is it just me or was the north-tyranid player about to wipe out the north IG player? Anyone got any idea why he pulled his warriors back instead of continuing to destroy the base? @MrLandshark perhaps?
Basilisks kill warriors very quickly. They were gonna die anyway.
Man idk if it was the last update or I did something, but I cannot play a skirmish match past 5 players to the end. It always crashes towards Titan or superweapon time, even sooner if theres a swarm team. Really a shame bc this mod rocks.
If you set up these matches yourself instead of finding reports. Can you avoid the red mars-like maps? they are bit hard to watch with how dark they make models.

Best nid units are Zoans and Biovores in this...

5:54 yer but if a horse can outrun a tyranid then i get why there is no point building anything not tanky :P yes i really hate the horses, they are ridiculessly fast compared to everything else, they also make zero sense bc they would die to everything and anything in 1 hit; but here they win in melee vs. tyranids and range; don't like that :P
love the cannibalism for tyranid thats a nice touch ;D
small tyranids should be jumping up and down ledges, bc ofc they can :P love their jumpin attack, so cute :D
if there is a low limit to squads, i think the number off units in each squad should equal out powerscale; so in the super late game when titans are out, t1 none elite-troops should be in squads off like 30+ units to at least somewhat usefull to still have and use, and give that feeling off bigwar ^^

23:22 in fact, there was no need to do baneblade, you had to do invisible caskarins or ogrins with a priest, + additional priests from the base.

@@_Roman228_ my teammate was newer so I try and make time for them. Didn't work out very well. Needed lictors to deny HQ at beginning. Alas onto a new game :)

These guard players are so garbage. They got the commands down in the worst spots in the middle. Too far away from the the thermo vents and they didn't even cap them. They set up in the middle but totally failed to take advantage of it.

seemed like one tryanid player was doing all fighting...if his ally helped when he started pushing tyranids could won
