I bet Dr. Anjana Khatwa would love to walk down through the valley in Drumheller in Alberta Canada, to see all the wonderful rock exposure, hoodoos and the history it holds in the earth layers.

This was way too short. I want an hour of this lecture.

Funny how this appears in my feed after spending an afternoon scouring the beach for ammonites.

I like the spangles in the Pink coat - Yea for you and what you do for us. I'm a Yank of sorts , Texas, and we have 400' of limestone underground. Nice talk.

I'm a Geologist, learning about geological time is among the best things one can do to appreciate the relevance or irrelevance of the present state of the climate and atmosphere and put human existence in its tiny capsule. Lectures at the RI, or anywhere for that matter, should be about the science and not a place where political tropes, like "colonialism", are woven into the message. Institutions like the RI, and many others, need to get back on track with relevance to the reasons they exist, and why people pay memberships to support them, for facts not political messaging!

Yes, yes, please skip all the uncomfortable truths in your special Ada Lovelace Day lectures, or the oppressed white people might unsubscribe.

How did they explain this before Darwin? Seamonsters?

Dinosaurs and marine reptiles were described as such before Darwin, although for a time they thought the latter were forms of crocodile.

Too much cute talk. The talk would be much better if she stuck to the science, which is truly fascinating.

Agree, all science talk should be dull and boring. Wouldn't want to accidentally get kids or laymen interested in it.

@YouYibe making the attempt a miserable experience.
