It's really cool seen people been instantly hooked by songs and artists that we take for granted down here. Of course we know they are really good, but see the kind of effect they can had on people who never knew them is very special and really shows how big they are. Besides that I wanna offer my two cents about your thoughts on how music develops in different parts of the world. We have our share of Trap music down here, and a huuuge and prolific hiphop scene too... Not to mention what we call as "Funk", that have almost nothing to do with what you and the international community understands by Funk, but is a distance cousin of the 80's and 90's Miami Bass, who was born in the guettos of Rio de Janeiro and took over the country in the early and mid 00's. Funk is our Trap. It's a product of the lower classes, with huge racial roots, made by the masses for the masses, ultra sexualized and constantly associalized with criminal activitys, gangs and things like that. Funk, as I think Trap also don't, isn't a movement per se... But it's a musical manifestation that defines this cultural moment in history and the envirioment where it's born. I think many of my brazillian fellows will disagre, because we have this tendency to overlook Funk and treat like something inferior music wise, but I think you can give this a shot if you really wanna make a paralel about music development in different parts of the world. And just for you know, almost all the artists you had react to can be classified as MPB (Brazilian Popular Music)... This genre is a big umbrella who fits the most different kinds of music. Some flirt with soul, samba and sambarock, like Seu jorge, Milton Nascimento and Tim Maia, others are more country or chill, like Marisa Monte, Zé Ramalho and Maria Bethânia. MPB is this beautiful culture melting pot. Just like our country is. ;)

Listen to "Chico Science e Nação Zumbi" (Chico Science and the Zombie Nation translated). He was a very important and influential musician from the 90s. He was from a region that has a lot of mangues (mangroove) and crabs, he incorporated this into his style. There is also a great and old rythimic movement there called Maracatu. He mixed this with other inspirations like Sepultura (brazilian famous metal band) and ended up with what i like to call "Brazilian Red Hot" because it mixes local influences very well with modern music from america and europe. Listen to "Maracatú Atomico" or/and "Computadores Fazem Arte". Make sure you get the versions with Chico Sciense.

Listen to "Chico Science e Nação Zumbi" (Chico Science and the Zombie Nation translated). He was a very important and influential musician from the 90s. He was from a region that has a lot of mangues (mangroove) and crabs, he incorporated this into his style. There is also a great and old rythimic movement there called Maracatu. He mixed this with other inspirations like Sepultura (brazilian famous metal band) and ended up with what i like to call "Brazilian Red Hot" because it mixes local influences very well with modern music from america and europe.
