- this is a tribute to randy rhoads from the radio show, "metal shop" that aired 3-2-84. all music has been cut out of this video.
it features interviews with musicians as well as ozzy himself. i also added a slide show of randy playing live.
as usual, the pics are of varying quality with credit given to the original photographers who posted their pics online for fair use. and i do not own any rights to the original material.
Randy would be 64 today, can't imagine the music he would have created. RIP
I'm 66 and randy would be 65 same reference point we grew up in so.cal back when words meant what they meant and so,,,,;; Genius !"! !🤘🏾
He would have reinvented not just guitar. But music period. All genres without a doubt. Chamber music right down to the dungeon music
Same!
My daughter is wearing polka dot pants tonight and it reminded me of Randy. Now my daughter knows who Randy is. You cant kill rock and roll. Rest easy brother🤘🍺🤘
I picked up the guitar because of Randy. Almost 40 years later and I haven't put it down.
I did so too, after Iommi, Randy gave me that extra boost.
August of 1992 I bought my first Randy Rhoads cd, Tribute. The moment he finished his solo in “Suicide Solution” I decided I needed to play guitar. Almost 30 years later I’m still playing his parts as best I can. :)
@@seanentrikin9263 I'm with you. I too bought tribute. Best album ever made. Best guitar work ever. 🎸
Lovely way to honour him 🙏🏻
It's in our blood. That is cool bro. I am still playing guitar after 46 years. Started at age 9. Always more to learn.
He was such a beautiful, sweet-looking soul. RIP, Randy!!!!
Yes he does
Almost 38 years have passed since Randy was taken from us. My eyes still seem to get something in them every time I think about how much I enjoyed hearing him play. Favorite of alllllllll time.
Randy is the GOAT! He is the reason I picked up a guitar and he is the reason I studied classical guitar. I was 11 years old and my older brother brought the Blizzard of Oz cassette home and I borrowed it. I said, WOW, I had no idea you could play guitar like that. I heard Dee and was completely hooked! I grew my nails out, asked for a gut string and an electric guitar then my parents found a brilliant classical guitar teacher and a brilliant metal guitar teacher. I went in at 11 and told my teacher I want to learn classical guitar. I want to play like Randy Rhodes. I took two 1 hour lesson a week, ate up everything I could. Thank you Randy, you are my idol and turned me on to a life time of joy and success as a guitarist. Randy, Stevie Ray, Zakk, Slash, Jake E, John Sykes, Hendrix, Ace, Chet Adkins and the Ventures were my biggest influences but Randy by far is the biggest. He is truly in a league of his own.
When I listen to randy's music on blizzard and diary today, I get this feeling that the world has been robbed of such a terrific man and one of the best guitarist the world has heard.
Blizzard and Diary. Not speak of the Devil, that was a live album with Brad Gillis after Randy’s death I believe.
@Kim Gow Nope, not dairy, silly, he said DIARY. He misspoke, don't be a douche.
You're not the only one.
The world was robbed.
It was.
The kid that knows guitars more than anyone else says there's more to learn.
Dedication + obsession =
a Master
It’s a shame he never got to see what a legend he became.
His Mom did, though!
Imagine what he could've become
Are you kidding? He knew. He learned that he was super well respected every time he took the stage. He saw it in guitar and metal magazines. He would've been swamped with male fans asking him to sign their guitars, and female fans wanting him to sign their boobs! You know you've made it when that happens!
He sees
Seriously? He was all of this long before he died! A legend isn't born in death! It's born in life, and before death! Randy was larger than life, long before he died! The fact that he died just solidified his place in metal! A good foundation can only be built on rock!
As a fan, Randy will always have a special place in my heart. For anyone who doesn't understand why Randy touched, and still does, so many people, just listen to his music. The music world lost something that can never be replaced when he died.
Exactly!
When I first heard Blizzard of Oz, I was completely blown away. "I Don't Know" is my all time favorite song and I doubt that will change. I played guitar myself for a few years, I listen to many guitarists but Randy just shines through like no other. I guess I'm just biased.
He definitely was a amazing gutair player especially on diary of a mad man and blizzard of ozz classic Ozzy Osbourne album , I had both tapes when I was in my 20s and now with my I phone in my 40s I have I tunes on my phone and last night I layed in my bed in my bedroom and played the whole diary of a madman album and zoned out . It was so awesome so chill out and listen one of my fav albums on my phone
January 6, 1982: my first concert (Diary Of A Madman) I was a month away from turning 15 years old. Ozzy seemed drunk and sloppy, but Randy Rhodes was a different story and he blew this girl's mind. Randy was a musical genius, and my musical horizons were infinitely broadened that night. Thank you Randy sir. I've never forgotten the influence you had on my musical tastes. ❤️
in his own way Randy is special to all of us
It's so weird hearing this again. I remember taping this off the radio and listening to it over and over as a teen in the 80's. Wow.
Yea man, me too!
Seattle KZOK FM played current rock in the late 70s. I taped it thinking it might disappear... Today KZOK is classic rock, playing the exact same stuff!
@@rogerf7229 i got a copy from a penpal i met in a magazine when tape trading was a thing.
Hell yeah. This show continued on through at least the 90s, because I use to record the episodes
Same! Toronto's Rock Radio Q107
Till now there is NO ONE like Randy Rhodes he still holds the BEST guitar player. There no music like the 80's rock n roll
I attended Ozzy's Osbourne Diary concert in Corpus Christi, Texas, because I wanted to see Randy play live. I'm glad I did. Before the tour was announced, I went and bought the Guitar World magazine with Randy's interview (A Cinderella Story) before his death. In fact, I bought two copies, because I wanted to place some of his photos on my walls. I still have these magazines to this day. They later printed and reissued the same interview after his death as a tribute, which I also bought. Man was I shocked to hear of his passing. He's still my greatest influence. R.I.P. Randy.🎸👍
Randy is a pure genius he helped me thru the some bad times I lost both my parents a year apart I wanted to play the guitar its cuz of randy that helped me thru soooo many hard times thank YOU randy for ur kindness and ur teachings
Metal Shop memories... Wow! I can't believe it has already been (nearly) 38 years since I heard over the radio that my hero had passed away. I was 12 years old, never got to watch him live in concert and I feel so robbed of that, and also the fact that we will never know just how much more greatness he surely would have gone on to achieve kills me inside to this day. Gone, but never truly gone. My playlist keeps his memory alive. RR
I recorded this on cassette the night it aired on WDIZ Orlando. I haven’t seen that cassette in many years so it’s good to hear this again.
Thanks for posting this. Randy is the reason i got into guitar, I love that people still love him!
I know it....I still remember the first time I heard him, and being a player will be playing what he has taught me in my own bands Halloween show tomorrow night!!!!
Randy is the reason i got into guitar
Crazy Train hit me and sounded like metal chains hitting a brick wall. I also spent endless hours learning all of his guitar solos in high school.
Randy we love you man...he should have his own constellation in the heavens... He is immortalized....I play and he is truly a metal god...
brian sataray literally the reason why I started too. 12 years later I’m here :’)
Almost 40 years since Randy died. In that time, he was on four albums. It utterly astounds to consider that guitarists are STILL being compared to him and they STILL come up short. They forever will.
Greatest radio show ever. I heard this episode on Q95 in Indy as it happened. Cool to hear it again. Been a long time.
Now I'm going to listen to Dee and let my heart weep. We only have a limited amount of Randy's music. Imagine what he's playing in heaven?
I listened to Metal Shop in the 80's when I was in high school; brings back great memories.
A one in a million player writer and from all accounts,a one I a million human being!! God Bless ya SIR. May ya be ripping it up in the big man's Arena!!
Those two albums were a staple of my high school years. Did they ever hold up over time.......HELL YES
Randy made this disenchanted teenager pick up his guitar again and find passion. Nearly 40 years later I am still playing thanks to him. Anyone that really understood the period of the 80's and Randy's influence gets teared-up while listening to his work.
Randy was a melodic player and loved to embellish when it was allowable in the song . This was one of the reasons he was such a great song writer and composer .
What first attracted me to Ozzy was not so much his guitar player at first , it was his song structure and the way he played within that structure .
There's never been anybody that's come close to the gifts he had as a complete musician since his death .
Most guitar players can riff and throw some chords together and make a decent tune , some are better than others and some are prolific riff masters .
What Randy had was beyond all that . RR had the ability to compose music . That is a gift
Randy became a legend in the blink of an eye, there will never be another Randy Rhoads
Randy, one of a kind. Nobody is ever going to be close to the best. God bless Randy.
Randy was one of the greatest guitar players ever. Period, end of story. Metal, Rock, Randy excelled at all of it. He was so good. Best metal guitarist of all time by far. That's a shame because he was capable of so much more.
Metal Shop!!! Boy does this bring back a flood of memories. I was 17 when this aired and graduated in '84.
We love and miss you Randy. Hope you're living in happiness and doing what you love wherever you are.❤️
It is hard to believe Randy Rhoads would be 64 years old this coming December 6th if he had lived.
Randy is the reason i got into guitar, all these years later and i still cant play like him :)
Can anyone play like him? He does riffs that are out of this world. Still, I'm thinking you are pretty good tho. Keep rocking you guys!!
@@scientificdevil4672 I only have demo songs posted, but some are good. The way Randy Roads constructed a solo was great. Vary melodic
Randy is the true guitar God🎸🤘💞we miss U brother 🎸🤘❤️
I remember when the plane crashed into a house it was all on the news and reports on television and radio stations. Hello Randy I'm sorry for your loss will be missing you in the meantime thanks for your time and hope that you gave us all you are a legend of rock n roll. How'd heavily Angels get you into the gospel of Christ playing with them in anguish and despair. Sounds pretty cool to see how the lord God's words come to be with you and continually make music sound very exciting. Teachers are Angels that sing in heaven Please save me a seat beside the harps and play yourself a little noise with the lights of Angels glistening on your face. Hello !!! Rondy Lee Phelps.
Blessed with love for the music sound of guitarist be a string band and one that had some great time learning peculiarities. Thank you God almighty for his work. Randy Rhodes. Hello
A beautiful soul taken too soon. They will never be another like him. I grew up with all these bands. It was great for America. Yes, I would go back in time do it all over again maybe this time the outcome would’ve been different. I love my brother Randy Rhodes, rest easy my friend. We love you and miss you.😇🎸🎸😇
RANDY WAS A COMET in our GALAXY ........Thanks for the Memories Little Brother .
Randy Rhodes' legend will never die He's my idol Everytime I play along on Rhodes tribute I learn or find something new.
Greatly missed !!!!!
Why the fuck do people spell Randy's name wrong? Its not Rhodes its Rhoads
Holy sh!t. Metal shop...i havent heard this radio show since it was on the radio. Thanks for sharing!
M-m-m-m-m-m-metal shop!
KNAC PURE ROCK 🤘
Truly a one and only...often imitated but never duplicated!!!! Thank you ... Your memory and music will continue to live on.you are truly loved and missed
Great information about Randy Rhoads, Thanks!!!!!
Randy Rhoаds is a unique guitarist, the most important thing is his hard work and true love for music.
There are concert photos where Randy Rhoаds plays the guitar, and Bob Daisley is not looking into the audience, but looking at Randy Rhoаds as he plays. Amazing photo frames that say that it was necessary to see how Randy Rhoаds plays.
For us kids that grew up in the 70’s and was turned on to metal music of the 80’s. Randy was our guitar hero. For us he was above Eddie, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton.
Amen
True the goat
Randy was, and will ALWAYS be the best and most talented guitarist EVER !! RIP RANDY
I grew up in the 60's and no one was better than Hendrix, all the famous guitarist stated so, he did not play metal at all, just blues, so there is no comparison, a shame they both died way too soon, I listened and still do to Randy, love his leads.
He was above all of them combined !
I was only 9 at the time. His music had a major impact in my life. I miss him dearly and Randy is the reason I play guitar. Thank you Randy.
i was one of the lucky ones in 1977 / 78 a friend i new since childhood Pat Riggen brought to musonia in north hollywood behind the midas muffler shop , got out of my truck and heard these remarkable ripping guitar riffs coming from inside .............the rest is history i was there a year and a half RIP MY FRIEND
Thank you so much for your work in putting this together! I was a drummer until I heard Randy..RIP Mr. Rhoads!
Randy Rhoads had Impeccable Musical Phrasing! He spoke to you with musical words, sentences, paragraphs that told you a sonic story!
Wow! I recorded this show on cassette tape back in the day. I listened to several times before it got recorded over or lost. Great memories. Thank you!
Me too ! lol I got this off KOME 98.5 FM in San Jose CA. I feel old and young at the same time ;) Randy Rhoads RIP ♥
Great audio! I too recorded this entire Metal Shop episode on a Maxell XLII 60 when i was 13. I used to listen to 104 WTPA Harrisburg every Friday night I believe it was. Thanks for posting as the quality of my recording is not as clean. If I recall correctly, they aired an hour episode of Metal Shop before this special. This tribute was an unbelievable and unexpected surprise!
Tommy Eye me to I was 14. I taped it listenin over and over
I second the motion, Randy was and still is a Guitar God! I was 11 when I first heard him play and it was like WHOA what the hell was that?!?! I would listen to his riffs and solos over and over until my parents made to go to bed. I got an old acoustic and I tried to learn his riffs. When I finally got a Les Paul (cuz Randy had one) I was a lot better than I thought. I still play to this day... all because of Randy.
I cant wait to go to heaven, so I can listen to Randy forever. I Miss it so much.
Brother, so do I. Thankfully I got to se him live with the Diary of a Madman tour. Un-fuckin'-believable!! Will NEVER forget it!!
He will be well rested and ready to Rock! 🥰
He would have been 66 this year RIP Randy Rhoads gone but never forgotten your music lives on
I saw Randy Rhoads perform a few
weeks b4 he died in Tucson (with Ozzy and Co.) I not am a person who goes gaga over a celebrity type.. Here comes this short fucker starting a solo during an Ozzy concert.. FUCKING WOW!
I'm literally at the edge of my seat
in total amazement while Randy played the PolkaDot Flying Vee..
I was sitting on his side of the stage (right).. I had never heard of Randy Rhoads, that I recall,b4 that!
What a powerful, magnetic,impressive musician
he was and IS..
Rock on brother Randy..you made it possible for this world to spin a little bit longer! 🎶🎸🎶
✌💖
Randy is what got me learning to play ....wish he was still here playing for us.....R.I.P brother
Randy ....i hear him and my Heart burning...Over 30 Years!! Ever and ever. This is pure Love and Dedicated.....
Those were the best days of my life the 80s and the day that I heard the tragic news about Randy Rhoads lost it love the guy four albums just what could’ve been rest in peace, brother and thank you.
Metal Shop was such a great show. I was there in '84 with the rest of you Randy nuts giving up our Saturday night to record this off the radio! Remember you couldn't find a poster of Randy anywhere. Some buttons were about the best you could get. Then 84 going into 1985 they started coming out. Room was a shrine to Saint Randy (that's what the press made him out to be ;-).
I loved Metal Shop!! I miss the 80's
Thanos vallejos
You’re not alone.
I remember sitting in my grandma's kitchen that night in '84 taping this off the radio (96 Rock WKLS 96.1 Marietta/Atlanta GA) on my big goofy ampex tape recorder, RIP Randall William Rhoads...one of, if not the, best players ever
Ever wonder what Mozart or Bethoven would've sounded like with a Les Paul plugged into a Marshall amp? Well now we know...
Randy only had one instrument, composers have orchestras. He did a hell of a lot of classical riffs and chording whilst hiding in rock bands...
Justin Ford I guess if I take the comment literally Im not sure those composers would have played an electric guitar as well. If they grew up like Randy and liked guitar then heck yeah they would likely rule. Bet they would like Randys playing. Ooh maybe they jam together now! Cheers...

You get it totally. What sounds better than a Les Paul plugged into a Marshall stack? Having Randy Rhodes play it!
What a musical genius. Mozart would be proud.
Jimi R Smith Hello, I don’t get it?
I am 60 years old as of Wednesday I look like Randy Rhoads I also have nothing but Flying V guitars I portrayed myself after Randy Rhoads and KK Downing two of the most fabulous guitarists in the world I still have tears to the day how Randy was taken away from us
Randy was,is and will always be a massive influence in my playing. As long as there’s guitar players randy Rhodes will be remembered
Wish I knew him as a person, but musically he is a living legend!, Saw him at the tower theatre (1500 seater?) In 81 when I was 16, I was close enough to pull one of those dangly cloth strips off of Ozzys sleeve, Randy blew me away!!, Such a tragic loss. RIP Randy, you'll live on forever through your music!
That's a tough act to follow, gettin' to see that band in a 1500-seat venue. All concerts after that must seem dull.
If I remember right. Metal shop was on 102.5 WBLM Portland, Maine.. Great memories. Those of us that were teens in the 80s. We had the greatest time.
Listened to this show every Sunday if I was not going to be home i had someone tape it. Was such a great show.
My first concert was Ozzy on 3/18/82 here in Knoxville TN I remember it like it was yesterday Watching Randy play live was like a Magical Experience HE WAS UNBELIEVABLE I never will forget it..People forget how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING HE WAS HE WAS AND IS ONE of the GREATEST GUITARISTS EVER
I miss this show. I use to have a t-shirt of it. Randy was , and still is the best ever.
Wow,thank you for posting this, although I,m a former drummer,I always wanted to learn guitar,an this man absolutely was nothing short of amazing. At least we still have his playing to inspire future guitarists. ✌ ❤
R.I.P. RANDY.
He keeps his memory alive but didn’t pass the rights to Randy’s royalties to any of Randy’s family members what hog wash ozzy damn.
That's more Sharon's doing than Ozzy's,Bob Daisly, and a bunch of others that played with Oz went thru similar stuff Izzy is known in the business for ripping people off, once again that's Sharon,She does the business end of Oz (in more ways than one, lol)
He was a huge influence on me. RIP to a great man.
I would love to know who those 222 people are that disliked Randy Rhoads
I haven't heard Metalshop since the 80s... Thanks for this!
Have some of this interview on cassette i taped off the radio back in the day, cool i found this on utube 😊 2024
Some of those riffs he came up with are all-time land marks, he definitely had a vey good understanding of music theory.
Inspired me from the first time I ever heard him. Thank you Randy for guiding my style of playing through the early years. A God amongst men.
I love how Eddie Van Halen takes credit for Randy’s success, Eddie couldn’t touch Randy in theory, phrasing, and technical ability.
He did? When? Where? Got any links to back that up?
@@HigzyTeflon ruclips.net/video/95M9cNlunYc/видео.html
@@jimmys511 : You know, I actually had already heard that interview with EVH many years ago and had forgotten about it. Perhaps, at the time, I had given Eddie the benefit of the doubt? Searching it even today yielded NOTHING to back up what Eddie had said "I read some of his (Randy Rhoads) interviews and he said everything he did he learned from me." Those interviews only exist in Eddie's head, but that's just Eddie being the self-centered, ego-driven dick head he was/is. Obviously, he made that shit up to feel better about himself. With Randy not around to dispute what Eddie had said, making that statement was pure cowardice on Eddie's part. The unbiased truth is that Randy was multi-faceted in his skill and he had only begun to scratch the surface skill-wise. Randy was classically trained, Eddie was not. Randy knew how to read music, Eddie did not. Obviously, EVH felt threatened by Randy's quick rise in popularity as a guitar player and wouldn't even answer Randy's question on how he got his guitar to stay in tune without the use of locking nuts on his tuning keys. What a sad and pathetic narcissistic loser! lol. Thanks for that link.
Randy did admit he was a fan. There is a story where he was at a show and wanted to meet Eddie and he shrugged Randy off. I believe it because from what I've heard, all the way back in the 80's until just recently with Sammy, that the VH brothers have always been colossal douche bags.
That’s cool you have your opinion. Still doesn’t change the fact that Van Halen brothers have been labeled as colossal douche bags.
Very cool! Randy in my view, "my view" mind you, was one of the individuals that gave respectability to the profession of rock guitarist. From what I've read, it's common knowledge that Randy was a humble, kind, sincere and gentle soul, aside from his incredible musicianship. In an era polluted with egotistical guitarists, he certainly was a cut from the rest. Either you have over the top narcissists, grunge anarchists, female divas, selfish frontmen; Randy didn't subscribe to any of that nonsense.
Johnny K.
I casually knew Randy . You are exactly accurate in your observation. That is exactly who he was.
Johnny K. You got THAT right. Ozzy loved him.
I went to High School with Randy. He was a soft spoken, really kind guy. He used to teach at his Mom's music school. It seemed to me that he really enjoyed teaching. He loved classical guitar and he never seemed "Impressed with himself" as a lot of the musicians I ran into. It was obvious that he was very talented and headed for bigger things. It's heartbreaking that such a talented, yet humble guy crossed over so soon.
He has a great family! Most kids from 1970s Burbank, CA will tell you that.
@Absolutely nothing on my channel , I didn't know him super well, but the times we did talk he would sometimes mention my brother, Steven Lovett. My brother would have been 2 years younger than Randy. I was 1 year younger. I was surprised that he knew Steve was a Jazz Trumpet and Flugelhorn player. He said that he was into Classical Guitar and he thought once he saw how things went with doing the rock thing, he thought about going to college for Classical guitar. I remember that he told me to tell Steve to stick with the Jazz, if that was what he loved. I will never forget that.
Wow great video Randy is a bench mark for guitar greatness
God bless ozzy... Randy Rhoads..well... he's a beautiful musician... love the flying V
Really would have loved to see Randy live. Saw Ozzy twice always wished Randy was there. Only the great ones are lost early. Much respect and admiration.
Loved this show when I was a kid.. and don't ever forget, THE KING BISCUIT FLOUR HOUR...
Rodney Torres Yea man... I remember that! You remember “Don Kirshners Rock Concert”? Lol.
@@XHuntinatorX man I don't remember that one but I bet it was a good one
It was a TV show back in the day... prob around 76-78. Came on after the late news... back when there were only 3 channels lol. Saw some early Van Halen on it. Just thought you may be able to find some old showings and see some of the good bands in their prime. L8R man.
I remember now
Damn, haven't heard that in many years! Spent many a late night listening to the king biscuit flour hour!! Wasn't it Sunday night at 10 or 12 am
hey folks, this is my original video i put together with my pics. beware of others who have reposted this video or any of my other videos.
Cool,
Better subscribe !! 🤘
Drummerfish are u Joe? If so we used to play together back in the day lmk
Is this the whole recording of the Brodcast vinyl ?
Thank you
Great job thanks
Thanx for the memories :).
I remember getting a new Rolling Stone in the mail one evening in '81 that had a glowing review of Blizzard Of Ozz.
Unlike Randy, i was a fan of Sabbath since hearing the S/T album as a 13 year old in '70. I hopped into my car and drove over the hill and snagged this great album.
Bought an MXR Distortion + in '82 and again in '09 or so. Randy's fave box, it seemed.
Too bad no one mentioned Mr Crowley. Fave solo for me and yes, double tracked, both middle and fade.
Who does that ???!!! No one but Randy Rhoads.
RIP
Omg! I taped this original airdate from KOME 98.5 FM in San Jose back in 1983 (?) and I think I still have it somewhere 😀 Randall William Rhoads, YOU are the reason I play guitar and to this day, still approach all music as a never-ending, exciting journey of musical evolution. God Bless you 🎸😇🎸
Early Spring, 1984.
Much Love for Randy from South Florida
Randy Rhodes was the best best guitar player since the 80's till now there's no one i say it again NO ONE can take his place
Great video !!! Nice to learn some information from back than, especially since it was from the mid 80's.
Gotta say, "Diary of a Madman" is just incredible. Could listen to just Randy's guitar alone over and over again.
The older I get, and the more the years roll by I hear and read interviews with Rudy Sarzo, or Brad Gillis. Those interviews give me a different feeling of the relationship Randy had with Ozzy/management. As a young budding guitarist Randys playing on the Tribute album amazed me. I always felt the Ozzy really felt like he lost a best friend. Which he very well could have. Who am I to say different. However through hearing Brad say for playing on Speak of the Devil he was oaid with Randys pedal board, and a few of Randys amps because Randy only owned guitars while with Ozzy.. Blows my mind. As a guitar player playing out, I own my effects and amps. I feel that Randy being into the creative world of music and learning all he could. Ozzy and management may have taken advantage of that. So to hear Ozzy speak of Randy, Just has my Bullsh*t detector go bananas..
Respect for Randy Rhoads.
I grew up during the 70s and 80s. I was always a Sabbath fan. I was so bummed when they broke up. Then Ozzy went on tour with his Blizzard of Oz album. There were 4 of us in high school who followed this tour for two years. When we saw Randy for the first time, we are like who is this guy, as we were blown away by his guitar playing skills. I missed some powerhouse bands in my day but I so glad and fortunate to have seen Randy play!!!
What kind of moron would down vote this? Randy Rhoads was THE best guitar player. Eddie van Halen had some comp. we MISS Randy very much. Thankfully I got to see him with the diary of a Madman tour. Will NEVER forget it!! Randy was THE shit!!!
I think I still have this on tape somewhere. it was awesome and still is to this day
Randy an all time A leaguer
my father recorded this as a young man. he found the tape he made while cleaning out his mom's stuff she didn't want and gave it to me since I enjoy (well made, good condition) cassettes
I remember listening to this show while cruising around. It makes me sad remembering walking out on Brad Gillis just after Randy died. Not that Brads playing was bad. It was excellent. I was just in shock and felt awful. Randy deserved more credit than he got in this life. It makes me sick seeing the Osbournes exploitation of Randy. None of those kids ever met Randy.
Loved Metal Shop Show.Thxs for sharing.🤘
I still have this tape and just listened to it today on my way home from work. Randy was amazing.
My biggest memory of Randy was his shoes,he always had some crazy shoes, lol
Randy made metal relevant and professional,at a time when it was devil music and not going to last, it was Randy and a bunch of other early 80s metal musicians that got people like me and even all the way up to bands like Slipknot, Godsmack etc to start making music. Rest in Peace Randy your gone but immortal to some of us🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
My first concert was to see Ozzy with Randy Rhoads at Cobo Hall in Detroit. I was in grade 10, what a first concert, Randy’s playing, the castle, never forget that night
Metal Shop... I used live to hear that radio show at midnight! Took me back
Thank you for posting this tribute. It really does give an insight into the man and his music.
Long live Randy rhoads!!! He’s also a big reason why I continue to play guitar. Always amazes me to listen to every song in depth. Always sounds different each time.
I actually recorded this off the original radio show! I listened to that tape all the time. Great flashback!
For the material on the "Tribute" album alone, Randy is is one of the top rock guitar players of all time.
