Metal and Fashion go hand in hand. In high school I made my first battle vest, and all these years later I made my first hand-painted jacket. This series is a nice little nod to all of that.
I'm currently learning handembroidery to add more patch-variation to my pants and jackets, though sometimes it's difficult for me to stay motivated and to keep going due to untreated adhd and mental illness. Thank you for the series, it's very motivating!
Thanks to this episode I've found a new metal clothing shop to save up to get a piece from. (Actually within my price point too, incredible!) Loving the series so far!
*"I let Joey borrow it and he never gave it back."* I feel you, Kim. Same thing with my metal shirts. I let my elder brother 3 of my precious shirts and sadly none of them came back ever since.
I actually started my first Metal vest 2 months ago despite being a Metalhead for 15+ years. So far I have Slayer, Dark Tranquility, Blind Guardian, Within Temptation, Slipknot, Tool, Septic Flesh, Death & Behemoth patches. Granted it's rough as fuck since I had never sewn before and I need to go back and add extra stiching to some. Plus vest I chose wasn't denim but a softer material but I chose it cause it's comfy as hell and can wear it any time of the year.
Back in the late 80s when I got into metal big time, leather was well out of my price range. So, inevitably I became what could best be described as a, 'denim herbert.' Though I own a sewing machine nowadays and do customise the generic into something more unique, denim patches and denim were made for us rank amateurs. Slip stitching traditional upholstery shaped me into what I am today, but it was a work in patient progress. Talking of Saxon, they trod the boards of my local venue back in the year of our Lord Vader - 1990. On the subject of money, that ticket would have cost me about 7 pounds sterling. A bargain at thrice the price...and some. Couldn't get a brace of pints for that today. Alas...
This is that chick that got hired to be a character in Gwar and in her mind she translated that to "I'm the new lead singer in Gwar". So she told everyone she was the new lead singer. So the media ran with that and made it a headline. And when it came for showtime she just stood there until it was time to do backup vocals. Then she would move a little bit. Not even trying to be mean. But that's what happened.
I took it as meaning that metalheads suspend their disbelief about the reality of their fave artists' day to day lives to enjoy the story that the band is telling, or accept the gimmicks that give them their appeal as just part of the fun. Most aren't actually bloodthirsty/live out in the wilderness/etc, it's an act and a way to entertain and connect. Same as how wrestling fans suspend their disbelief on the feuds and dramas within the lore of wrestling for the sake of entertainment.
@@MoonlightRitual Why not those two? First of all Metallica were very vocal about their look being "no spandex" and shit like that in the early days. And Lemmy is Lemmy. You literally cant find anyone else in any scene with that consistent look.
@@lordtrigon1733 What's the issue? Do you not understand the concept of humans having different views, perception and opinions? I just voiced my opinion, why does it bother you so?
It doesn’t bother me at all, I’m just asking why you don’t want this aspect of the genre discussed - it exists. A lot of fans love sewing battle vests as a hobby, they’re going the extra mile because they’re expressing themselves and their passion for the music - what’s so bad about doing a video series about that?
@@lordtrigon1733 Jesus. I did not say this should not be discussed. Please, learn to read properly before replying to someone's comment. I just expressed my opinion. I did not tell anyone what to do and what not to do nor did I say that we're not allowed to discuss this. I simply expressed that I don't like that this is focused on image more than music. It's just my opinion. I might be wrong but it is still my opinion. Why do you feel the need to justify someone's opinion? It's just their opinion... Good lord, it's like dealing with an 8 year old.
This episode features Kim "Kylla" Dylla

As a metal head and sewist (who mainly works with band tees) I am ECSTATIC about this series! I love Kim’s work. She is truly incredible.
we're very thankful Kim chatted with us.

Would love to see more of these! Such a fun series as someone who is a metalhead working in the fashion industry!
That bit where you were voicing Mille really got me! 😂

These episodes are really interesting but they feel a bit rushed! I would mind longer episodes where the concept is elaborated more
Will guys have a episode about metal shirts?
The future is wide open :)
Please review the new Helloween ...It is a Masterpiece!!!

How is the metal world fake? I don't get it.
Kim is coming from a performance metal band perspective. GWAR aren't actually scumdogs from another planet, they are people in costume.

I believe Cannibal Corpse are sadistic murderers as much as I believe The Undertaker is legitimately an undead cowboy wizard.
Can you do Dekays Guitarsenal?? Even tho it didn’t win..
We will. Once artists still touring again.
How did you make 3 whole episodes without mentioning Metallica's early look or Lemmy?
Why those two in particular when there are a number of bands who also did the same thing around the same time.
@@MoonlightRitual Why not those two? First of all Metallica were very vocal about their look being "no spandex" and shit like that in the early days. And Lemmy is Lemmy. You literally cant find anyone else in any scene with that consistent look.
