It's not a serious plan, just a way to delay power grid upgrades so Gina Rinehart can keep selling her coal with the help of her LNP buddies.....
Fission reactors would have been a great plan back in the 1990's, but it's too late to be effective now, renewables and storage are cheaper and getting cheaper each year.

Gosh everyone on you tube has graduated from being a public health expert to being a nuclear physicist😂😂😂😂....the 3 mile island nuclear power plant had a partial meltdown in march 1979 it took till August for the clean up to start...the whole plant was decommisioned in 1985 and wont be complete till 2079.......and you think that accidents wont happen now its all safe??? Just recently a mining company had a nuclear isotope fall of the back of a truck while in transit in WA for crying out loud 😂😂😂😂😂

Some of Australia’s waste comes from the former High Flux Research Reactor (HIFAR) at Lucas Heights in Sydney. HIFAR operated for around 50 years but was retired in January 2007 and replaced by the OPAL reactor. During its life, HIFAR supplied millions of doses of nuclear medicine and provided neutron beams to study the structure of materials. In the 1990s, the Australian and French Governments entered into agreements for France to reprocess HIFAR’s spent nuclear fuel. Reprocessing removed residual uranium and plutonium and made the waste safer to manage. This reprocessed spent fuel was returned to Australia at the end of 2015. This waste is now being temporarily stored by ANSTO at Lucas Heights until a national facility is completed.

Is statistically safe, we could suck them in the outback where there would be no major damage if there was an incident (which is unlikely) and they can be run with minimal staff using modern technology.

1:08 yes, yes I would. I would absolutely LOVE a nuclear power plant in my backyard, it’d have to be small because otherwise it wouldn’t fit but I would be able to power my house off of it for decades

Westinghouse went bankrupt from the time and cost overruns of the latest two nuclear reactors built in the USA by them. Almost took down its parent Toshiba along with it. That’s why they remain at best 3x more expensive than solar, wind + batteries + transmission lines

Take a look at that pie chart again - two of the 'negative' attitude segments began at 100% and shrink to their respective numbers, while the 'pro' nuclear segment begins at 0 and works its way to 41. Subliminal messaging to say 'we don't want it'? (watch the animation of the graph in slow motion)

Nuclear needs the national electrical grid.
    The grid cost $TRILLIONS
1/7 th of Australia's energy is electricity.
