It's not a serious plan, just a way to delay power grid upgrades so Gina Rinehart can keep selling her coal with the help of her LNP buddies.....
Fission reactors would have been a great plan back in the 1990's, but it's too late to be effective now, renewables and storage are cheaper and getting cheaper each year.
If they ever get fusion going we've got it made.
Just burn more coal. Cheap, reliable electricity.
Gosh everyone on you tube has graduated from being a public health expert to being a nuclear physicist😂😂😂😂....the 3 mile island nuclear power plant had a partial meltdown in march 1979 it took till August for the clean up to start...the whole plant was decommisioned in 1985 and wont be complete till 2079.......and you think that accidents wont happen now its all safe??? Just recently a mining company had a nuclear isotope fall of the back of a truck while in transit in WA for crying out loud 😂😂😂😂😂
Already mining it to ship overseas as well as storing France's waste, yet not receiving the benefits of nuclear power for ourselves
People really need to stop watching the simpsons for their information on the topic
I'm shocked that we are storing french nuclear waste - can you fill me in?
@@footbru www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Parliamentary_Departments/Parliamentary_Library/pubs/BriefingBook45p/RadioactiveWaste#:~:text=In%20the%201990s%2C%20the%20Australian,at%20the%20end%20of%202015.
Some of Australia’s waste comes from the former High Flux Research Reactor (HIFAR) at Lucas Heights in Sydney. HIFAR operated for around 50 years but was retired in January 2007 and replaced by the OPAL reactor. During its life, HIFAR supplied millions of doses of nuclear medicine and provided neutron beams to study the structure of materials. In the 1990s, the Australian and French Governments entered into agreements for France to reprocess HIFAR’s spent nuclear fuel. Reprocessing removed residual uranium and plutonium and made the waste safer to manage. This reprocessed spent fuel was returned to Australia at the end of 2015. This waste is now being temporarily stored by ANSTO at Lucas Heights until a national facility is completed.
Tldr: we gave them our sandwich after one bite, then they give us the rubbish after eating the rest
@@nickbilske8140 I don't understand.
@@footbru we have medical and research reactors here, we sell the byproducts to france to power their reactors, they send the spent rods back here for disposal/storage
Is statistically safe, we could suck them in the outback where there would be no major damage if there was an incident (which is unlikely) and they can be run with minimal staff using modern technology.
Peter Dutton hasn't got a plan.
You haven't got a clue
@@Lourens551
neither do you 😮
what happened to Jacinda's accent ???

legalize personal nuclear plants
humans are to stupid for that yet ..😅
nuclear waste can be reused repeatedly if the plant is set up for it .
Australia has many abandoned mines to store waste.
1:08 yes, yes I would. I would absolutely LOVE a nuclear power plant in my backyard, it’d have to be small because otherwise it wouldn’t fit but I would be able to power my house off of it for decades
$1billion ASMR the size of a service station .........done in 4 years from either Westinghouse or Copenhagan atomics
Westinghouse went bankrupt from the time and cost overruns of the latest two nuclear reactors built in the USA by them. Almost took down its parent Toshiba along with it. That’s why they remain at best 3x more expensive than solar, wind + batteries + transmission lines
SMRs? Vapourware. Just stop burning stuff, and make use of the fusion reactor 8 light minutes away.
Take a look at that pie chart again - two of the 'negative' attitude segments began at 100% and shrink to their respective numbers, while the 'pro' nuclear segment begins at 0 and works its way to 41. Subliminal messaging to say 'we don't want it'? (watch the animation of the graph in slow motion)
shhh the algorithm is watching and it doesn't like above average intelligence humans 🫣🤷♂️✌🏻🫶🏻
Nuclear needs the national electrical grid.
The grid cost $TRILLIONS
1/7 th of Australia's energy is electricity.
Ziggy does not look like an Electric Grid Construction Engineer who has priced and built these things.
He looks like a smug ignoramus.
Like the child who said " I will pay for it, you give me the money ".
FMD, he is frustrating and pompous expert outside his expertese.
Well this is about as funny as a truck load of dead babies! 😢
No it isn't.
Thats why the seats are so cheap
@@graemegillett6437, they couldn't pay me to watch this show!
Why not just use gas fired power stations, much cheaper to build and produce about 60% less co2 than coal.
Along with oil, gas has the highest death rate while drilling per J of energy that can be produced, not a good option
@@joshuawhelan9358 If you want to reduce co2 gas is a cheaper less complicated alternative option than nuclear. Also how about all the mining deaths, are you telling me more people die in gas fields than coal mines.
60% less isn't good enough, and the gas also runs out
@@eug_metta Better than going nuclear. And yes gas will run out some time in the future but I'm just keeping it real, you should try it.
I wonder if the Liberals will come along and shut down the nuclear power plant project like they did with the last one (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jervis_Bay_Nuclear_Power_Plant).
Barnies on a party bus about to ......... lay on the ground and use his phone . I love Barnaby. He gives his constituents a laugh . At least he doesn't pick earwax and eat it , or was that a nose .🇭🇲👍🦘
