      Please, please wear a nose covering when cutting. That silica dust will cause you to get silicosis a serious lung disease caused by inhaling this type of dust over several years. You guys do awesome work and I want to see you doing what you love for many more years to come. Thanks and may God continue to bless you guys.

    Do you have a video showing how to remove existing caps to replace a bad hardscape light or damaged cap?

    • @TheChristianHardscaper
      @TheChristianHardscaper  2 месяца назад

      I don't, sorry. But all you need to do is get a very flat chisel and hammer and pop it off the block carefully, it will come off if you do it right ✌

    I love the curved look, does it cost more to make it curved?

    • @TheChristianHardscaper
      @TheChristianHardscaper  3 месяца назад +1

      Me too, very sharp looking. And yes, curved is more expensive because of all the caps you need to cut to make them fit right. With a straight wall, you don't need to cut very many caps.

    Another awesome project!! By the way what is the best construction adhesive to use for a wall block planter?

    • @TheChristianHardscaper
      @TheChristianHardscaper  Год назад

      Thank you! I typically use concrete adhesive made by (SRW Products) But most concrete adhesives are pretty comparable. Not sure if you have SRW available near you, if not, I'm sure you can find one made by a different manufacturer that will be just fine. ✌

      It is my cousins, he bought it at a local masonry supply store. There are a lot of different manufacturers who make splitters like this one.

    Thank you for sharing! Looks good. One tiny criticism is that the caps would look nicer if all of the cuts were in line with the radius of the curve (ie perpendicular to the wall). That probably means twice the # of cuts and more wasted material. And I like to put some glue in between all my rows. Just being picky!

    • @TheChristianHardscaper
      @TheChristianHardscaper  2 года назад +5

      I hear you, it would look nice. But you are correct with it making a lot more waste and time spent. This left them with a solid product with a good price. I appreciate the feedback ✌🏻

      I have been racking my brain cus some of my retaining wall has a variable radius; the somewhat randomness of the cap sizes is almost attractive, as it doesn't allow the eye to find flaws in perfectly splitting the difference. Esp on a variable radius, where the angle on each cut cannot be the same

      A wonderful job and so good to see a tradesman taking such pride in his work - having worked in the building industry for 48 years that pride is certainly not evident on a daily basis from the majority of workers . Great touch breaking the first and last capping pieces instead of just cutting them with the demo saw .

  • @user-ir7pw8zb3f

    I am a novice at this stuff. Basic question: Should the capping start from the middle of the wall to each end thereby adding symmetry with the end caps having the same cut demensions? Or is it Standard procedure to begin capping a wall staring from the end instead? Thanks.

    • @TheChristianHardscaper
      @TheChristianHardscaper  Год назад

      I guess you could do it either way, but I typically start at one end and work to the other. Seems to be a good way in my opinion.

    What are those caps called and do they overhang on each side? I have 12” versa lok wall blocks and the caps they gave me are 12” deep so it’s flush on both sides and I hate it.

    • @TheChristianHardscaper

      They are made by (Techo Bloc) and are called (Architectural Cap). They are 13" deep. The blocks I used are 11" deep. it is designed for use as a double sided wall with 1" overhang on each side.

    • @TheChristianHardscaper

      Unfortunately you have to pop it off with a hammer and chisel if you need to remove it. It creates a very tight bond.
