Helo brother thanks for coming to our fest 😊 though I'm not the regular viewer's of your blog but somtimes i view. Hope you enjoyed with my aunt family and our festival. You should have spend the whole 5days and then only you'll learned more, anyway I enjoyed watching your clips and sharing about our kabui's community festival 🙏CHAKAAN means dry season, GAAN means brightness or happy and NGAI means festival. We kabui's peaple especially youths eagerly look forward this fest cus this fest is the most important and biggest one among many fest of the kabui's. In this fest, we kabuis from birth to death associated with this festival. It is based on the religious myths and belief. The fest start with the offering of wine, ginger and egg to the deitei's at the northern gate and southern gate's of the village or colony early in the morning before day break to protect our souls, body, and peace on mother earth. And make new fire by rubbing the wooden with bamboo peel and with that piece of fire we kept in the uncooked rice container, belief of to bring prosperity at home and enliven the social life and provide opportunities for the artistic expression. Anyways hope you are not boring of some of my details of this fest😉some tribes mark the change of season while yet others are connected with the agriculture and cultural I think bit similar to other tribes too. @@surjakantasingh4287Well, kabui is a terminology given to the Rongmei and Inpui by Meitei in the valley. This shows our close ties with the Meiteis since 2000 years back. But the word Rongmei means 'southerners' in our dialect and is more original to us. Also to be noted, there are Rongmei brethren spread in Assam and Nagaland as well. I hope this comment brings you some enlightenment and if you still have confusion pls look up to our history.

I'm tangkhul but I was born in gaipuinam( kabui khun), it's quite an enjoyable festival I missed those memories 💖💖💖💖
