"I'll just stay all night and we'll sing 'em all!" - is a reference to Judy Garland's legendary performance at Carnegie Hall in 1961! Vanessa is channeling that era of showbiz!
If only Jackson had known that Greenlee was his daughter I wonder what he would have done to save her considering that Bianca is his niece and he treated her like she was his daughter big time.
I wished Vanessa returned to AMC before the finale and was David's partner in crime in the Erica clone story! It would have been interested to see Annie and Vanessa team up!!
Loved Vanessa Cortland. Sadly she was the type of character, that was written into a corner where they probably couldn’t come up with anything to redeem her, unlike Janet green
Robin Mattson and Marj had worked together on "Santa Barbara". Too bad that rumors about Robin going back to "Guiding Light" as Hope never panned out. Marj worked with both Vincent Irizarry and Marcy Walker on three soaps.
I have a faint memory of Vanessa having a similar scene like this where she's holding someone hostage but instead of it being Greenlee Smythe it was Jamie, Brooke & Tad's son. Does anyone else remember that? I wish someone uploaded it to RUclips! It's been in my mind for almost 20 years now.
What is truly amazing is that Marj Dusay was known for being one of the nicest ladies on the soaps. She was the anti-diva diva, giving her time to causes like funding aids research. I have never heard a bad word about her. Costars from "Capitol", "The Facts of Life", "AMC" and "Guiding Light" adored her. Jay Hammer said she had nervous issues that differed from Beverlee McKinsey that sometimes made their scenes more challenging, but obviously he didn't want Alexandra to be recast. I watched Marj as Myrna "This is war!" Clegg and Beverlee as Alexandra back to back, 2:30-4:00, on CBS for 3 years. Constance Towers said that Marj was a dream of a co-star. Marj was very open about her pain in losing her son to HIV, but she always remained very supportive to the gay community and as long as she could volunteer, did the Broadway flea market for HIV research. When you look back at her 25 years on daytime and see the stunning people she worked with, it's a huge list of who's who of soap operas, and she remained friends with many people off screen in addition to working with them. She was close friends with Jed Allan from "Santa Barbara* and spoke with grace about Richard Egan James Mitchell and Michael Zaslow who didn't get along with Beverlee. Marj was Pisces (like me), as were Jed (same birthday as me) and James (leapyear baby), and in most cases, we do all get along. Had James been born a few hours later, him Jed and I would have had the same birthday.
One of my favorite scenes on AMC. Have it on video tape somewhere. Damn I miss Vanessa. Wasted opportunity to not bring her back before ABC canceled AMC and the untimely demise of Marj Dusay
They honestly ruined her character just to make the show more interesting and trashier but Dusay did great with what she was given for the progression of her role.
@RealGreenlee4Evr -- I KNOW! Marj was amazing, I loved her! I was hoping she was behind some of the Orpheus stuff during the ending of AMC, but alas she wasn't :( You're welcome, glad you could enjoy! I did hear about the movie - good for her!
In all honesty, yes, the original Greenlee was the best. When Sabine Singh took over the role, she was back to being that girl you loved to hate again. And I thought she did a great job too. Yet, was excited Rebecca would be coming back at the same time. But when she did, Greenlee was back to being too nice, and she and Ryan who had zero chemistry were forced down our throats for many years. I think back at that boring couple as playing a key role to amc ending. Cameron matthison should have been written off long ago. He was boring as fuck
and Vanessa had some funny one liners...."you men are all such damn nuicences!" lol and "oh wait, we can't call them little people can we, that wouldn't be very nice!" LMAO!
7Smythe do you know what Leo and David's backstory were for Vanessa to be so crazy over them? Like it seems to me like Greenlee entered a crazy family without being warned.
@@KrisBryant99 she did. Vanessa was a murdering drug lord. She was also extremely unstable. Greenlee called her out on Vanessa’s unnatural obsession with Leo several months before this. She told her she knew emotional incest when she saw it.
@@greenlee7smythe but wasnt there a story where Leo in the beginning wanted Greenlee because she was heir to some money or something? I feel like this whole mess started because Leo was using Greenlee and she didnt see the signs that he was already messed up. So that's why I asked if you knew the story on him and David because I feel like Nessa's issues were a whole separate thing and they just got caught up in it.
@@KrisBryant99 yes Leo came to town with the sole purpose of Greenlee’s trust fund. Vanessa’s plan was to steal her inheritance and no, Greenlee had no idea because at the time she was head over heels in love with Scott Chandler and feuding with Becca Tyree over him. He didn’t want her and she turned to Ryan Lavery for comfort. He was in a messy thing with Gillian and Hayley but he and Hayley decided to remain good friends, and Greenlee was just a no strings attached thing but she became obsessed with him basically transferring her feelings for Scott onto Becca. Leo and Greenlee became friends and made bets on if Leo could bed Becca. That was all part of Leo and Vanessa’s plan but Leo eventually fell for Greenlee and it eventually went both ways.
@@greenlee7smythe but the FACT that he wanted her money in the beginning was how this chain of events got started. Leo only fell in love with Greenlee because he got USED to her. That's not falling in love. It's tolerating someone after so long but overall Greenlee was just given a bad deal with whole mess.
That part where Vanessa makes a crack about Jackson I would've had Greenlee say please Jackson couldn't put a proper case together if his life depended on it
I watched this show from 1991 til it ended and totally forgot? Vanessa developed an altar personality? Get the feeling it was a last minute plot since josh duhamel chose to leave and the writers got to a dead end with Vanessa as she was the kinda character that just couldn’t be redeemed, as fantastic as I thought she was on amc. RIP Mark Dusay
Loved Marj Dusae. What a fabulous talent and inspite of her scheming, I had hoped the writers would have used Palmer to rehabilitate her like Rachel Cory did for the criminal, Carl Hutchins. Hate the writers instead made her into a homicidal maniac.
sam Page is hot...but here he needed more acting skills, "as ur attorney i advice u to drop the knife"....that line could have been done just a wee bit better...but still hot in glasses...i love that kind of nerdy look :P
Thank you so much for posting Greenleo scenes, love watching them! By ant chance do you have the scenes when Leo walks in on Greenlee naked lying on Jake's desk from early Nov. 2001? How about the scenes from the end of Nov. 2001 after Leo and Laura's 2nd wedding that didn't happen and Leo takes Greenlee back to Jake's apartment and tries to get her to relax because she's worried about her father? I also would love to scenes from Leo Jake and Greenlee trapped on the deserted island from Feb. 2002. If you have any of these scenes I would love to see them! Thanks
There were so many moments Greenlee could have grabbed her by the arm. I’m pretty sure Greenlee could have gotten out of her dilemma. And was there a flirtation between Greenlee and Trey? Why did she go into his arms like that? What happened between Leo and Greenlee as this was near the end of Josh Duhamels exit? Don’t remember this at all.
Marj Dusay was an ABSOLUTE LEGEND. An actress that should have won multiple awards. May she Rest In Peace.
I so loved the character Vanessa!!! Her time on AMC , was well loved by me!! I couldn't get enough of her!! And I still love her. May she R.I.P.
Math Dusay is phenomenal. Brilliant! She really carried this scene!!! Excellent acting!👏👏👏👏

wish i could find all Vanessa's scenes she had the best one liners on AMC

He would've been in the same state considering the severity of the situation.
She was NUTS! Never saw this before but it was out there. This is even better than the time when Erica was high and told off everyone in town.
I don’t recall it either. And I watched the show religiously since 1991

Vanessa was keeping Janet Green's seat warm as the resident kook.
