    I really like Angling Direct! The staff are always polite and helpful with my beginner's lack of knowledge.

    I tend to the view that test curve is more important for casting distance, than fish playing. The current obsession amongst many carpers for distance, distance, distance, is what drives them to high test curves. (3.5lb seems to be the prime spot for them)
    Whereas, a 2.75 or 3lb rod is perfectly capable of controlling fish to 30lbs (I’ve had carp to 30 on my 2.75lb Shimano TX2’s). And had less losses when the fish start lunging and thrashing when they’re faced with the net than with my 3.25 test curve rods.
    Unless I’m casting long distances, 2.75-3lb is the sweet spot for maximum control, shock/lash absorption (fish lunging) and enjoyment.

      I'm thinking one breaks down into 2 sections and the other to 3 sections for break down?

    What would the best all round advanta carp rod for floater fishing and for fishing on the bottom

      Hello James,
      The Advanta RVS twin tip rods in 2.25/2.75lb would make great surface fishing rods, plus they would be fine for close to medium range fishing on the bottom. They are a great price right now too!

      Hope this helps?

    I got a 13ft carp rod for christmas and im a bit afraid that it is too big for my body of water.

      Depends on the test curve!? You can use 13ft high test curve rods for close fishing as well and small rods can cast long ways. Ideally you want to match the lake size and how far you will be casting to your rod. A happy medium is a 12ft carp rod.

    Bull first one ypu say 70 years max you never used the insurgent 10ft I can get 110 yards with mine your so wrong on so many levels with this video

      He said they're suited to cast up to 70 yards, that doesn't mean they won't go past 70 yards. It's more that the 12ft & 13ft rods are a better choice/more suitable for distance fishing.

      There are many different characteristics to look for in a quality carp fishing rod and Chris has covered these in a 6minute video.

      @nickschwaller3154 Год назад

      Actually you're wrong. Casting 110-120 yards with a 10 ft road is possible. Just smack it. Now try again with precision lemme know how that works out for ya 😂

    • @aarondavies8486
      @aarondavies8486 Год назад

      @Nick Schwaller it's easy that's how I fish 2 rods on a spot about 110 yards 120 yards the snags are at 90 yards where I fish to and have no problem with rods that are made from real 1k carbon not just a wrap to make them look like carbon you obviously don't know nothing about carbon fibre then do you
